  1. Schneiderlin Lallana Wanyama Rodriguez Cork Davis JWP Ramirez I wonder how many of those Man U's fans would have preferred this season? I'm sure they wouldn't have wanted them as signings (not Mata level) but equally sure most could have done better for them this season than what they had.
  2. Game, set and match to Mr Le God! Lol Bit part player who has played over 100 more minutes than, for example, Cork in premier this season, probably over half our game time
  3. Thanks. Do think different opions should be embraced, but sometimes a bit of rational balance helps in this emotional game. Fours years ago today? 8th in league one after 29 games. 7 points off 6.
  4. Glad the irrational anger has eased and we are back to disappointment and what may have been. I think majority agree post 204 is best summary and we can get back to enjoying a really good season. Good result today and looking forward to Liverpool already!
  5. I will give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you genuinely don't get this. We seem to have a couple of regular misunderstandings over fatigue / injury. 1) if fit to be on the bench he is fit to play (e.g. Fonte / JayRod) 2) players are wimps getting tired, I work long hours, tennis players play daily during a tournament for longer etc. Both quite simple concepts.. 1) if I was 100% fit and at my peak, and Ricky Lambert had a dead leg, broken cheek bone - he would still be a better option to play than me. But a 100% fit Sam Gallagher would go from being a back up to being more effective than a less than 40% fit Lambert. Where a manager earns his money, or gets it wrong is when players are closer in ability and closer in fitness. For example Wanyama v Cork divides opinions. But a 100% match fit of either would be obvious choice over 80% fit of the other. What is hard to judge is where the players are on those variables. JayRod clearly better than Guly. But JayRod, we know was carrying a knock. So was MP's genuine judgement that a X% fit JoyRod was not going to be as effective as a 100% fit Guly? Same with JWP / Morgan. Who knows. Even in hindsight its not clear as our "best" team didn't improve against tiring Sunderland. This also explains why Fonte is on the bench. The "fit enough for sub fit enough to start" argument. Lets assume due to his cuts... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2557867/Ive-Hull-Saints-defender-Jose-Fonte-shows-battle-scars-scoring-match-winner.html that Fonte was 60% fit. MP's judgment would have been 100% fit Jos is better than 60% Fonte. 60% Fonte is better than the under 21 CBs. 2) Murry may play games every day. But if he got through to the semi final at Wimbledon and some how could swap himself with a clone who had just had three days rest / stretching / massage etc then he would. its not that players are being poor little loves, its than you cannot stay at your peak without rest. We don't get a choice, nor do tennis pros in tournaments - tennis and our working lifes are not team games. Football is. So maybe Morgan could have played games Saturday, Sunday and Monday - then turned up and made a fool out of us in our works 5-a-side, but going back to the point above, if he started at 100% his level would drop. He would always be better than us, but while at 100% he may outclass Gerrard in a game, at 80% he maybe a average prem player. Thanks.
  6. I feel people need to separate their disappointment (which I share) and exaggerating facts causing disrespectful venom against MP and the club. I have just read recent match threads. Bizarrely the players being criticised on those threads are Cork, Lallana and JayRod. Man of match poll Hull game? First Yoshida,21% second Davis 20%. The best players who we threw cup away by dropping? Lallana 2%, JayRod 6%, Morgan 5%. Team selected? Back four - first choice. No issues. (fonte's pics speak for themselves) Midfield 5 Wanyama is MP's first choice over Cork (personally agree) particular logical away to Sunderland. Maybe mistake? personal view but certainly more logical as a tactical preference. Davis - first choice. Lallana - first choice. Ward-Prowse over Morgan? Not my choice and think weakened side. However hardly reserve player coming in. JWP has played appeared in more league games than Morgan. JWP has played more time in prem league than Cork. It is conceivable that MP actually thought his play, along side VW maybe preferable over a off form Morgan? Guly over JayRod. The club have stated that JayRod (slated by fans recently!) was carrying a knock and therefore relied on Guly. Unless you think club are liars seems disappointing but fair enough selection. Lambert first choice Yes there were several changes. The cup keeper / league keeper being one. Two first choices coming in. Two injuries (Fonte / JayRod) One tactical (JWP). What was MP's approach to the game? Facts - away to prem league side but had most possession. 9 shots on target. 6 corners. Committed 15 fouls! went goal behind on 49 mins. tried to change it with fairly early subs, bringing on Morgan and JayRod. So, from a hour had our first choice outfield 10!!! Have people realised that??!! Strange substitution as I don't know much about McQueen. Taking Lallana off, was that evidence of lack of interest in cup? No. MP has taken Lallana off in 13 of our 26 league games. Sunderland are 8th in prem current form. There seems to be an arrogant view (by pessimistic fans??) that we should have walked the game and the cup was ours. We still had a lot to do. The pre-match thread included links to the Sunderland forum - who stated when they saw our team they would get stuffed. We lost. Team have games when the under perform - asked Everton and Arsenal recently. We also had three chances to score far easier than the one Sunderland scored from. Lambert and Lallana both had chances easier than any of their goals this season. JWP also had easy one. They are more the reasons we lost than KD replacing Boruc for cup games, or JWP over Morgan. Did MP get it right? No. The black and white is when a sub does well, or change works the manager got it right. Would he do the same again? I doubt it. Not because of toddler tantrums on here, or Robbie Savage not realising who first 11 are/ who injured but because we lost. Him bringing on Morgan and JayRod shows two things- one he realised it wasn't working, and two he respected the cup enough to use try his best 11 even if not 100%. BTW I am old enough to have been to cup finals, I am disappointed we are out, I had optimistically started thinking it maybe my kids first Wembley trip.
  7. If was angry it would be at the insults thrown at MP. Think some "disrespected" fans are in a parallel universe where we played an unknown side! The Sunderland fans were fearful when the saw we MP play players we have never heard of. Few questions... 1) Have the disgruntled fans notice that for a ⅓ of game we had MP's first choice outfield 10 playing? 2) do they realise how many people slated Morgan recently a d how his replacement, JWP, has played in most of our games? 3) do they realise Lallana usually gets subbed even in league of which MP cares about? 4) those not interested in season now, as its fairly likely that future seasons will not have us in relegation battle or champion challenge , and unlikely to be in many cup finals, are you not going to have interest in future seasons? I would have preferred Morgan and JayRod to start. Although JayRod was not fully fit. I Don't get the debut sub, maybe it was to insult fans, maybe he couldn't be bothered, or maybe MP saw something a young player could exploit.
  8. Carroll left Newcastle over 3 years ago now. In over 3 years his total goals = 13! This season = 0 Last = 7 Season before = 4 Season before = 2 We made it into England as a prolific forward with Newcastle. As well as unlikely to score there is a risk his attitude could be bad for squad away for world cup. Think he needs amazing few months to get in
  9. Think everyone is disappointed in the performance. Some realise a couple of decisions didn't work out but in the main good players underperformed causing a narrow defeat and are gutted that a decent chance of a cup run is gone - fubnily enough pretty much what Shaw said. Some , such as FF use it to wallow in conspiracy theories, think Lambert missed a sitter as a personal insult to them, And reason to insult owners / manager. Personally, I saw players good enough to win underperforming, saw JWP/ Lambert/ Lallana miss chances, realise the easy line in press about number of changes included first choice RB and CM returning, Fonte being replaced after articles in same papers about how bad he was cut and read about JayRod not being fit.
  10. A sensible response. I know there are strange views on here at times but this over reaction to a defeat by a single goal away to prem side is amazing. It seems that the cup was guaranteed until MP deliberately through it - you couldn't make it up! Do some posters know who our players are? Do they keep up to date with injuries? Do they remember criticisms they have recently given players? Apart from injuries and the new tradition of having a cup keeper the only player who was dropped surprisingly was Morgan. The same player that people have been moaning has looked off form/ jaded. Replaced by a player (jwp) who fans here, and even on other club forums has been spoken about as international player. I think some need to let result sink in, watch the game again to see misses by Lambert, JWP and Lallana (prob L and L's easiest chances this season) look at team sheet, look at photos of Fontes leg, find a player who played who can't get into first team normally (only Guly and who else replace JayRod when he isn't fit?) See that he brought on best players even when not 100% for half hour to try to win it. I don't get taking Lallana off but that isn't a lack of respect to cup thing, he does it (wrongly IMHO) in 50% of games. Maybe he saw something in the game that McQyeen could exploit? It didn't work. I am accused of being too optimistic and positive (I was planning my Wembley trips ) but it seems others arrogantly thought the cup was ours. We put out a good side. Guess too much sense again for OP and will be written off as waffle but at least this is based on facts. Its not the fans who are being disrespected - it is the club and management - doing great but had the nerve to make a mistake and lose! I thought arsenal were bad booing recently...find this embarrassing.
  11. Other way round would be more rational. We lost after missing three easy chances in a cup tie against a prem side, long away trip bad conditions etc....sh1t happens. This wasn't some reserve team. First choice available defence. Midfield / forward 6 - 4 were first choice. Disappointed to see JWP for Morgan - but this is player who was being talked about for England, has played 24 (most 26) of our games this season. I don't know why he was chosen. Guly replaced JayRod who had a knock / not fully fit. Taking Lallana off? Not sure why but he sees this as a good tactic, not disrespecting cup, he has down in 50% of his games, maybe McQueen faster or different in some other way? If they weren't 100% MP still bought Morgan and JayRod on for 30mins - decent amount of time to impact game. So which decision should he apologise for? Lallana missing a sitter? Or Lambert's? Or JWPs? Or should he apologise for not insulting those who travelled midweek by resting every one so we could guarantee winning fa cup? I do wonder if some moaning know how arr players are?
  12. Strange post. Sure I read a post, not long ago, on here about how our previous long standing regime went as far as insulting a fan on the fan such was his lack of respect for fans. The events of yesterday?! What events? Losing a cup game with a disappointing performance against a prem side? A long away trip in crap weather following a midweek game. Where has this arrogance come from? Apparently, it seems, if we hadn't played Guly yesterday the cup was ours?! Many (most?) Clubs play their second keeper in cup games to keep them part of the team. Played first choice defence available. Played first choice players in Lallana, Lambert, Wanyama, Davis. The only two surprises / weak links were Guly and JWP. JWP has been involved in most games, started many and was mentioned by England manager this week. JayRod wasn't fully fit. That side was picked to win. I would have preferred Morgan and JayRod but won't throw my teddies out over their omission. Every team has below par performances, after excellent season because we have one, losing to a prem side away 1-0 suddenly MP is called a c£%t and owners are insulting fans! Lambert and Lallana both missed chances easier than just about any goals they have scored this season - this is main reason we went out. You will never be happy supporting saints, unless you get your glory day of a cup win. I don't say that as insult, I think it is sad. When we had that amazing run in league one, and I was posting threads about it, I remember you saying you couldn't enjoy it as knew it will end.... We are old enough to know football goes in cycles, favourite players or managers leave, fortunes ebb and flow. It is fact that the club will lose its current owner, manager and players at some stage - when? We can speculate. Personally I want to enjoy the good times while they last, not sulk about the inevitable downs that will come. We weren't given choice of 7th or cup win - it doesn't work like that. If it did, I would have chosen cup win - had started dreaming of my kids first cup final. But, if we finish 7th, it may mean MP is more likely to stay, players stay, better recruits etc...maybe have better chance next season. The club is serving fans better than for years - the quality of football, the excitement with young players coming through etc. You mention West ham - surely a good contrast. Would you want their manager, team, owners or stadium move? This is meant to be a hobby, a pleasure, a passion. We all get disappointed with bad results, some show it in different ways. But I really cannot understand why people actively seek the negative. Whatever the topic there are about 7 posters who will always take the negative stance - and actually, bizarrely criticise fans for being biased , optimistic, happy, getting carried away etc - surely that's the whole point? Not an insult! You, and a couple of the others do also talk sense at time (worded badly - mean football views that even if I don't agree I am interested in reading). Genuinely think you should take a step back and see if it is adding to your life or not what you enjoy - its only football, there are much better ways to spend your time if its ****ing you off, life is too short. Regards N
  13. Really disappointed with result & performance. See the club have confirmed that JayRod and Fonte were not fully fit. So basically MP is being called a c%n# for resting Morgan??! So we rest one top player. Play first choice defence, Lambert & Lallana - our two star players etc just swap Morgan for JWP (who plays a fair amount) and people make like we played our reserves! Wonder if some think it through before they seek attention with OTT posts. Lallana, Lambert and JWP all missed easy chances that you would expect them to score. Lost 1-0...away...with more possession ...to a prem league team who had had a week off etc Hardly huge upset. At least the reaction here is now the most embarrassing thing today
  14. Perhaps it would be interesting to see how our team compares to every other cup team this weekend? defence first choice RB first choice LB after seeing pics of Fonte's cuts possibly first choice available CB pairing (and as so keen on cup had him on bench ) midfield 5 3 first choice 2 changes Guly for JayRod (although people moan about JayRod I would have wanted him to start) JWP for Morgan (although loads moaning he has looked tired and limped off I would have wanted him to start) His replacement has played 24 times this season, 12 starting) Cf first choice So could easily be that that was 2 players off our strongest available outfield team. I wonder if any other team will play as strong a side this weekend? Disappointing game but probably as much to do with just one of those days it doesn't click, long away trip, midweek game when they rested, them scoring a good goal, Lallana, Lambert and JWP all missing easier chances than their goal, heavy rain /wind etc. But this won't stop the half wit rants about foreign manager insulting fans, throwing game as he doesn't want europe. If you travelled and don't feel the players gave enough I feel for you, but if you feel insulted by Guly playing...well surprised you managed to get there!
  15. Watched the game, disappointed and frustrated like everyone. got to laugh at the ill-informed over-reaction on here! (not knocking anyone for being in grump after a defeat we all get stroppy!) insult to fans, clueless, hate pochitinno etc lol - idiots. We lost away to Sunderland ffs, a bad performance when we wanted a good one- christ we haven't had many. Long away trip, after long away trip midweek, in crap weather - and lost to a team who rested this week. Would team selection have changed their goal or Lambert's miss? Those moaning about team selection include those slating JayRod the last few games. I didn't see midweek game but reported Morgan limped off? Fonte has four cuts across his leg. Only particularly questionable one is Guly / JayRod. Guess glory hunters can give up on ordinary season now
  16. http://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?topic=311919.0 Liverpool thread on young England players. (Away on course too much time on my hands!) Again shows how whatever happens Saturday this season has been far from ordinary - every realist can see that If you can't enjoy this maybe time to get another hobby?
  17. In response to the thread stating defeat next season would leave us with an ordinary season.. I thought some may enjoy reading this Man U thread, the race for 7th... Includes comments such as "Southampton are our biggest rivals right now" "Its Southampton we need to worry about" "Southampton will be the threat" "All for us to do" (referring to last game of season) "Us and southampton..to the wire.. Exciting" Its a big ask hoping for 7th, I think Man U as well as their squad also have easier run-in in their favour, but we are only 3 points of them and 6 off Everton. Just months after Turkish saying we are light years away from top 8 sides we are competing. A top 8 finish would be amazing. In last four years the only gatecrashers to the top 8 were WBA scraping in at 8th last year, three years ago Fulham the same, and four years ago Villa. Hope cup run goes well but enjoy league success as well - its not an ordinary season! http://www.redcafe.net/threads/the-race-for-seventh-place.382736/page-2
  18. Too many take it as fact and creates numerous pessimistic threads on here how we are doomed, Lambert going, club for sale, MP leaving etc. The club will be sold one day, MP will leave etc.....but it won't make mail or some posters right
  19. Accuracy of daily mail? Players desperate to leave? No. Not even one. Club being sold? Doesn't seem well advertised if it is Lol! Dreams wrecked? Turmoil? When NC left, 9th. 7 points ahead of 10th. 3 behind Newcastle, 7 behind Man U 10 behind spurs 11 behind Everton. After month of wrecked dreams and crisis.... Up to 8th. Now 11 ahead of 10th 2 ahead of Newcastle 2 behind Man U 6 behind Everton 9 behind spurs 3 draws, 3 victories, zero defeats http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2539563/Nicola-Cortese-close-quitting-Southampton-bust-owner-Katharina-Liebharr.html http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2540112/Southampton-accept-resignation-chairman-Nicola-Cortese-manager-Mauricio-Pochettino-close-following.html http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2540218/Liebherr-dream-wrecker-How-3bn-heiress-whos-never-shown-football-ousted-man-Saints-fans-believe-again.html
  20. But its not that simple is it? Rest players doesn't mean we win the cup?! I bet there isn't a single poster that would choose a 7th place finish but losing saturday over an fa cup win. A team performing needs a balance of resting players when needed, giving the best team game time together and keeping squad players involved. Playing reserves today wouldn't necessarily improve our cup chances. Guess team selection shows MP agrees. Progression in league means progression as a club and improves chances for future cup - that is not the same as throwing cup for one more league place! Although cup isn't the same since it dropped its a knockout I would love to go to another cup final, and my kids first. Do think its very sad when fans show lack of pleasure and passion for an impressive league campaign if it doesn't involve a cup, promotion or successful relegation battle.
  21. Best finish for 11 (?) Years maybe 30 years. Three players breaking into England squad. Reading on redcafe forum numerous man u fans saying a saints player is their favourite England player over any of theirs. Our start, particularly the defence. - Lovren..possibly best CB we have had for decades. Press drooling over our style - Neville's comments. Liverpool away. Hull, Fulham and Arsenal home games. Excitement of going to see Sam Gallagher against Arsenal (know you weren't ) then his performance. Osvaldo - goal against Man City then his bust up. Cortesse leaving. Having the most talked about young manager in the country. Sure there's more!! Where were we three years ago? How often has a team in their second season had a less ordinary season? This season is not an anti climax for me. Its been great - pretty confident most ordinary supporters , and those at other clubs will agree. Everton still come to us, plus have spurs, Chelsea and Newcastle away coming up, their last 6 include arsenal, man city, us, man u - not impossible that we won't have them in sight. Spurs, 8 points ahead, next two everton and Newcastle, then busy with Europe, then run of four games -chelsea, us, arsenal, liverpool. Man u - sit 4 points ahead coming here last games of the season. Newcastle close, hard games left, still to come to us. I know teams may soon be out of reach, and 8 th maybe as good as we can finish but lose Saturday and I would still say season is not over, nor are chances of Europe. It won't mean this season has meant nothing to me if we go out at weekend, and honestly feel its a shame it would for you! Think we are about same age..so wouldn't have thought any saints fan of our age could be a glory hunter
  22. Yep just you. Can't see one post saying he is a terrible player, a cart horse etc. There is one saying over rated. I think the concenus is he is quite effective and handful but a symbol of fatsam's football - cynical, physical and lacking flair. Almost if you just joined a thread to take a view contrary to the popular view to criticise saints fans....but I'm sure you would never do that, just a genuine mistake i'm sure
  23. No sorry still smiling! Two wrongs don't make a right but if had choice, the fa to rid the game of one - I'd choose getting rid of fatsam/ carroll style football rather than player making fool of himself overreacting. Ideally both. If carroll hadn't hit him he wouldn't have a problem. One reporter said was second elbow from him that game with other one worse. Ban still 3 games. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
  24. Carroll loses appeal. Got to help Lambert and JayRod playing in England friendlies. And more likely worst team to watch will be relegated Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
  25. MP said Cork needed rest, VW needed game time. Tbf Cork was far from sharp and match speed when first came. If both fit tight call but think VW shades for me as more complete Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
