not saying I would have wanted it, but seeing the reaction its getting on here I am guessing it is common but we didn't realise it so who knows
-
what do you make of Jimmy Case's comment that it is common place for chairmen to do this?
-
don't think a plc club has gone into administration before has it? Are the implications much different?
-
jst notice thread title says the team talk -which is bound to, quite rightly aggravate people and cause concern, but then first post is much more innocous with "pep talk". -which I am sure most would see nothing wrong.
-
Southampton striker David McGoldrick revealed that chairman Rupert Lowe addressed the team in their dressing room before the 1-1 draw with Coventry. McGoldrick, 20, told BBC Radio Solent: "It was good for the players to meet him, I don't think many had met him. "He [Lowe] has come back and it is a young squad. He clarified the position the club is in. "They cannot afford the money at the minute, so the top wage earners had to come out." Bit of a strange thing to say if the rumours on here -director of football, signing players, training, team selection/talks are true?
-
sorry I am just the idiot wanting one? Is there anyone on here who has an accountancy background and knows the implications of administation for a PLC company and its shareholders? Got a bit of an idea for private companies.

Don't know whether its me missing something on this thread but who is saying that Lowe gave the team talk? I am not saying he didn't but all I heard was the DMG interview which wasn't about a team talk? If he did I think that does undermine the manager and is both worrying and bizarre. If it was as DMG recounted - an open meeting at the training ground to discuss the club then popping in to changing room for a few positive words, then I think there is nothing wrong in either of these -in fact they are positive. Without going over what people think of Jimmy Case as a pundit, if he (having played for Liverpool, Brighton, us and others -and been away at hundreds of games where he probably has been aware of what is going on to a certain extent with the other team) thinks that is fairly common then who are posters on here who have never been in that situation to say "it just wouldn't happen" elsewhere, or other managers wouldn't allow it. Remember they are in the changing room together for quite a while, and would already been briefed in training by JP (or RL!). If it got in the way, of course it was wrong. Its no different to the CEO walking around the shopfloor and being visable -doesn't mean he knows how to operate the machinery. Don't mean to be stubborn but feel maybe I am missing the point?
-
as usual I am taking what I heard as being more likely than something made up on here for their agenda "guess what I reckon he might have really been in there to discuss formation". You are sounding childish. I do not know, nor do you but guessing something totally different went on based on insults to DMG and Case to fit in with a made up criticism of Lowe is pathetic. Lets face it there is plenty of obvious things that we know about to moan about!
-
but he is posh -he cant understand football after just 10 years of working fulltime in it and being on FA premiership board;)
-
someone has been arrested
-
just so I get this right.. you are saying the DMG, unprompted made up about Lowe popping in with a few words of enouragement? and that Case made up that it is common for chairman to do this? based on what? You bad feeling about Lowe and some postings on here? did you hear the interview?
-
thought DMG worked harder than normal and he admitted it himself on radio
-
the 3rd official was trying to get ref attention the stopage before the free kick to make the substitution but the ref let the, think it was a throw in, be taken quickly
-
only one person who was there has spoken about this -DMG -who said it was a few positive comments and welcomed it. Case who has more knowledge than any of us on here stated that was normal for a chairman. Those are the only ITK comments we have to go on - and they are being ignored because they don't fit in with what you want.
-
thought full backs did ok last night
-
you are right he did but don't think anyone (well maybe a couple) would deny that Lowe alienates fans -thats another debate!
-
thought it was strange, but Surman held his leg and limped when he came off so guess he had tightness / knock -even tho that late not worth injury (specially as so cold) or giving ball away.
-
3 is most relevant one to me -Case has been in a few changing rooms with few good managers and if he says it is the norm why are people on here, who have never been in that situation saying its so bad?
-
http://www.ccfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/MatchReport/0,,10269~44456,00.html thought we were more positive and had few decent chances, still obvious lack of grit at the back but enjoyed the game
-
agree -and only account we have was DMG who said a few positive words.
-
buy the echo -its bloody obvious! Anyway doesn't even say its in dug out and he may have been there for all I know or care. Having two pics on same page is not really a fake. God you are sounding obsessed and desperate -aren't there more important things?
-
open your eyes -in more ways than one!
-
Not read all of this yet but listening to Radio Hampshire DMG spoke about this in interview; 1) he seemed positive about it 2) its ridiculous to say team talk he said to say a few words 3) Jimmy Case said most chairman do the same thing 4) Jimmy Case thought it was a good thing. DMG also said that Lowe did a Q&A session with players to assure them about some issues. Again Case thought this was good and said a lot of chairman would not bother doing that. Merrington slags JP/Lowe of for everything. He was moaning about Surman coming off in the last minute -but he was limping!
-
I know you rate my judgement but sorry I don't appoint the directors!
-
my ususal prediction with us -not got a clue!
