  4. as did Norwich - recent example with similar set up to us.
  5. Reckon will lose out to likes of West Ham - despite the bizarre comments of their manager yesterday on their finances and how they need to cut their spending. Really don't know how our spending will go - Cortesse talks about being sensible, but he ain't stupid and knows what is needed to get promotion. Salaries, signing on fees and transfer fees since he came here weren't sustainable for a league 1 club without promotion and outside investment - will he have same approach for championship level???
  6. I won't criticise based on ignorance if that's what you mean
  7. you can't say what we will / will not spend this window as fact, Cortese keeps things very quiet. You may suspect it, you maybe right, but you can't state it as fact almost criticising anyone for wondering whether we can outbid the mighty leicester! You are right now, we will see at the end of the window his, and Adkins approach.
  8. not quite what Cortese said - went onto say but needs injections for transfer funds. (Fonte / Lambert)
  9. no problem. To be honest don't know much about their current squad and how much it cost them. Just wondered why you stated as fact we could not / would not financially match them this summer - when we have no idea what Saint's policy for championship signings is, although our league 1 policy was to outspend rivals. I haven't got a clue how much we will spend. Wouldn't be surprised if we only make 2 or 3 signings but spending big. Don't think we will throw money at 'big names' - Adkins seems very keen on team spirit.
  10. so you guess we won't match them?
  11. chairman doing well shock!
  12. I guess you right that there is no evidence that we are prepared to pay higher wages and transfer fees than Leicester for next season, but where is your evidence that they are prepared to pay more than us? All I am aware of is that they have signed one league 1 player (low wages) for £175k (low fee).
  13. ok, where is the evidence that suggests your comment is right? That we are unwilling to match them for a fee or wages in championship?
  14. A Why
  15. echo says its not happening http://twitter.com/#!/gordonsimpson
  16. Leicester City have today reached an agreement with Huddersfield Town for the transfer of defender Lee Peltier for an undisclosed fee. The 24-year-old right-back has agreed terms on a three-year contract with the Foxes and will become City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson's first new signing of the summer, once his registration is completed on Wednesday morning. A dynamic, attacking full-back blessed with great speed and sound defensive instincts, Peltier heads to Filbert Way after two seasons with the Terriers, with whom he reached the League 1 play-off final this past season.
  17. His goals weren't a secret, 4m for league 1 player, of his age, with one year left on contract, one good season, who We didn't particularly need would have been silly
  18. Don't think he would have been worth anywhere near the money We would have had to pay in Jan. Probably in better position to spend the money better now
  19. Mitchell confirms skates bid for pearce but bid far too low due to half fee going to sell on clause - back to skates! if they don't get him will say something as they want him and can get him for half the price of any other club
  20. reckon our squad is pretty good, so would like to see us signing (stating bleeding obvious!) players who improve on first 11. Don't see significant improvements easily achievable to KD, Fonte, full-backs, Morgan, Lallana and Ox-C, so agree 3 through the middle most likely - if all stay.
  21. where hasn't he spent as required?
  22. wouldn't be surprised if there were only two or three in total
  23. Signings last summer: Dickson 14 June Richardson 6 July Butterfield 16 July Guly 23 August Think that was all?
  24. looks like Matt Philips and CMS both looking for premiership tranfers. would philips have been first choice 11 for money spent? could we have done any better if we had paid £4m or whatever for CMS and would they have sold to rival? This window is more important. Jan window is to get you through the season primarily - we didn't need anymore players unless could get good deal.
  25. if we had spent more in January we couldn't have done better. Can't see we can say we have underachieved due to lack of spending so far
