  1. They are serious in their own minds Ron about trying to get the fans to buy the club. Not as you and I see it as giving it a go if all else fails.
  2. It was announced in the Echo yesterday that there is a meeting of the above groups tomorrow evening. The trust's idea is to unite all the groups under one heading, the trust. I have spoken to Nick Illingsworth at length and am meeting him this afternoon to talk about where we both are. There are plusses and minuses and I have flagged up the public concern and perception of the trust etc. The idea is to essentially to set up a bid for the club and have the trust own it. How that would sit with those that are being asked to contribute and raise the necessary funds I'm not sure. I personally am open minded. Unless there is a visual reform of the trust I can't see this having public appeal. The proposed bid is for the club and I presume Staplewood, leaving the council to pick up the stadium and letting Jackson's farm go. I think that any bid should include the stadium and keep the farm intact for the future. The price of the stadium and the farm would never be as low again. The reason for the thread is to canvass your opinions, so if I am representing the members at the meeting I have an idea where you are coming from warts and all. I would say in conclusion, just keep the opinions sensible and leave personal abuse and opinions of people unless relevant, prejudices etc for another day please.
  3. Is this just modern bands? because the guy who sits behind me in the Itchen Block 4 plays and is the leader of a cracking professional Irish folk band all locals, they play all over the country, have made records, I have seen them, they are very good. I have his name and number if you are interested. The band is called 'Shebeen'.
  4. They didn't want to play the celebrity match on the 27th, and made it the 17th May. They would hardly have done that if they were going out of business.
  5. Ramsey came from the army, Wayman from Preston. Bates from Norwich. I think the other two were local.
  6. The original date was mon 27th April, but the date was moved back so as not to interfere with the last game of the season. It doesn't sound like the club is folding before the end of the season.
  7. For Gods sake give it a rest, the useless prat is gone, just let's move on, if we are lucky enough to have a club in the future.
  8. An interesting thought, I take it you don't like someone in particular.
  9. Robbie Williams.
  10. Maybe consider joining and alter it to your satisfaction.
  11. I've been going there since they opened, although we are using the other one quite a bit because they deliver in about twenty minutes.
  12. Tanya's is good but the one in Salisbury Road precinct is as good and delivers free, if you're a greedy bugger and spend enough. Does a great crispy seawed, Tanya doesn't.
  13. Quite how you can criticise anyone, no matter what group they represent, when they are getting off their backsides, spending their own money on a website, and doing their best. Maybe a list of what you are doing, to counter the criticism, would be in order.
  14. Princess Anne, on a previous post.
  15. You should use your third post to put the details on here, or preferably edit your previous post. Click edit then when you've altered the post click save.
  16. A charity day on 26/4/09 at the three Goodies shops with a memorabilia auction at the Totton shop. All the takings going to SFC. See all the details in the post by registered user, hence this thread to help, on the www.saintsweb.co.uk/saveoursaints sticky thread.
  17. The council have stated that they will not bid against anybody and see themselves as a fallback position. In the event of nobody buying the club and the stadium then they would look at it.
  18. Most of the players are out of contract on 1st July, there are very few with ongoing contracts. The sale of those like Surman and Lallana and any others with a value however small would virtually complete the job. Most of the more experienced players still in contract won't want to play in league one and will want to go anyway. Nobody I'm connected with made that statement, despite the parenthesis you made it up.
  19. It's Princess Anne at the launch of an education initiative.
  20. The Echo could print a howgozit panel with the address every day, Simon Carter said to me it was no problem. Haven't done it. Radio Hampshire covered it for a day did an interview for the brothers. Mike Osman put it out on his show. I asked the BBC to put it on their website and was knocked back. Kevin James did it one day said he would repeat it and talk to Roger Johnson about BBC South Tv putting it out, I've seen nothing since. Wave 105 covered it for a day. It's not as if it's money we are asking for at present, I think until the club is 48hrs from dead the bulk of the public except for the most committed fans aren't the least bit interested. In the end most of them will just shrug and say it's a pity the club collapsed.
  21. We are trying to do this. It's like pushing a snowball uphill the media only see the one shot headline. The imbalance was what I expected so I personally wanted to see what the public actually felt, without the distortion of site members pledgeing twice. The Echo have run the website address once and despite their alleged Save Our Saints banner, are in reality not helping at all either us or the club. I am getting a lot of feedback, most of it negative. Arrogant management, overpaid players, football not worth watching, needs a reality check, Lowe, Wilde, Crouch etc, etc.
  22. Isn't that what I said? The right coaching staff.
  23. I was told the other day that there are three or four substantial interested parties but the problem is, nobody is firming things up until they know what division and the league announce their decision.
  24. Apart from Bridge, Walcott and Bale who have their own natural talent, I'd struggle to name one who isn't a reserve or a lower division journeyman.
  25. No chance of that, the league are on dodgy legal ground and if they were that stupid, it would open up a massive legal can of worms. In any event no football club can sue the football authorities they have waived that right to enter. If it's asset is damaged financially in contravention of league rules, as the club is not in administration, SLH could sue the pants off the league and the FA if they step in. This is dodgy for the league that is why lawyers and accountants are going through our books and records at the moment, to try and prove that the club and the public company are one and the same. Unless they prove that to the satisfaction of the lawyers there is no way the 10 point deduction will happen.
