  1. But has he lost any weight? I agree he's not rubbish but last time I saw him he looked heavy and sluggish. It's down to him to follow Lambert's example, get fitter and get back in.
  2. And it seems to think they were playing Charlton in the second half.
  3. Get a Network Rail Card. £20+ for the year and you get the third off the price of the standard fare.
  4. I think he may be putting pressure on all the players to get a result in an away game at Carlisle without p*ssing off his senior players. Last week was about taking pressure off the players in a home game they were expected to win. Like him or not, he's not passive, he's a manager.
  5. Rome wasn't built in a day but Alpine wasn't on that particular job.
  6. I saw it LTC. It was a penalty. HTH.
  7. A good competitive game between two strong sides. We were good value for the first half lead. They were better second half. We dominated the first 10 mins of the second half and then gifted them a goal which brought on sustained pressure. Unlike Saints, Charlton have pace and it caused us problems at times. We need some pace and to be a bit more creative to make more of Lambert but overall a pretty solid performance. Jaidi looked good when he came on.
  8. FF, in the light of some bizarre comments this afternoon by one particular poster I wanted to redress my omission in an earlier post (to which you responded) to convey my thanks for your very informative post about a period in the clubs recent history of great interest to me and, I believe, other Saints fans.
  9. Choosing Pinnacle over Liebherr could have been the mother of all **** ups by Fry. How the hell did he go for Pinnacle?
  10. Murty has looked good on the two occasions I've seen him and we should snap him up. But I think you're right that we should bring in height (and power) at CB and in other areas of the side.

    Team v QPR?

I disagree. Obvious point but we were relegated from the CCC, since when we've lost some of the better players. Aside from the patchy quality in the side we're not physically big and strong enough down the spine of the team to prosper in League 1. Take one aspect, today we looked dodgy defending corners and crosses and conceded from one. We never looked like scoring from a corner except when Rasiak came on and had one header blocked.

    Team v QPR?

I know but it won't be ok. We need to strengthen midfield and attack as well I'm afraid. On a more positive note the fullbacks (all three that played) were solid and Schneiderlin looked the part.

    Team v QPR?

I just got back from the match. I've read this thread. I'd like to be positive but sorry I can't. We do need a centre back. We do need more presence up front but what bothered me most is that we created nothing. On that performance I believe we'll struggle.
  14. Got good work rate has he?

    Skates

I'd rather be a Flounder than a Skate.
  16. Disappointed but not surprised. What we do now to replace him will be interesting on a number of levels.
  17. I'm a slightly surprised he's considering going there because he's one player in recent years I felt had a genuine affection for Saints. I guess it's the Cole connection which has brought this about. No reason why he shouldn't go there if he wants to of course. The real story here is that this is a player that retired from the game last season due to a wrist injury. Are the Skates desperate or what?

    Skates

Some are more medium sized than others.
  19. Cut out the politics. Keep the history.
  20. OP. I disagree with some of what you have said but I won't dwell on that because essentially you are right. The winning mentality has been missing and it's encouraging that Pardew has spotted that straight away.
  21. He was clearly unfit but did enough both in how he played and his communication with team mates, especially with Lallana, to show he would be a good signing. I think the injury was because he's unfit but desperate to show he's worth a contract. It would have made sense to take him off at half time.
  22. He lingers like a fart in a lift. Great day yesterday.
  23. Bookmarked for posterity. Thanks LeBoyer.
  24. He was head and shoulders above any other Saints player and could slot quite easily into Ajax's team. I'm surprised he's still here.
