CONFIRMED - Mane joins Liverpool for £34m + £2m addons
Jimmy_D replied to toe_punt's topic in The Saints
You mean, like to van Dijk, or Forster, for example? You can count on one hand the teams that can keep all their players. We might have lost Wanyama and Mané, but we've also improved on the quality of players we've been able to keep hold of. We've also kept hold of Wanyama, Schneiderlin and Mané a season longer than we once would have, which has given us two seasons of qualifying for Europe. That'll let us attract better replacements for those players. We won't carry on improving season on season forever, but we definitely have the structures in place for the Club to improve over time. -
Would have been funny, but...

Apologies, 'like Liverpool journalists are trying to claim.' Saints report of a club record fee is the only official source of information we have, LFC are quoting it as undisclosed. -

Yeah, Saints saying it's a club record, so no chance of it being less than £30M like Liverpool are trying to claim. -

It's a shame he's gone, he's been really good to watch in a Saints shirt. Pretty likely I'll be able to say I was there for the fastest Premier League hat trick for a long long time to come because of him Now we need to carry on our track record of spending money ten times better than Liverpool. That's already led us to finishing above them for the first time in our history. Hopefully it can keep us above them next season. -
I couldn't name a single policy Farage has, apart from leaving the EU. I'm not sure he even has any? Considering he's got that now, I'm not sure what he'll use to get any votes any more.

Fair to say there's a lot of people waking up right now to a lot more paperwork than they expected. Interesting reaction from a Canadian MP already.
-
Leave is the favourite with the bookies now, but still too early to begin calling it.
-
Unlikely I know, but there's absolutely no provision for what should happen in the event of an absolute tie.
-
Wow what a game! Last time I felt like that was Beckham's last minute free kick against Greece. Massive amount of credit has to go to the officials for our equaliser, would have been very very easy to give that offside.

RIP Before my time, but always sad to hear of a former Saint passing. There's a nice bit about him on the OS. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/20160614-tony-byrne-appreciation-3142430.aspx

Everton have missed the boat a bit. A few years ago that would have bought you a title. Now, at best, it gives you a chance of being competitive, but with the amount of money in the Premier League these days, getting it right behind the scenes is at least as important, if not more so. Newcastle are the obvious example of where it doesn't go right despite throwing that sort of money around.

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/jun/14/ronald-koeman-everton-goodison-southampton?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter Pretty good summary.
-
Considering their notable absence (so far) from Everton, I wonder if we're considering appointing Erwin Koeman.
-
Think they're going to end up sorely disappointed if they think Koeman alone is going to be worth at least 16 extra points to them.
-
Well, there's something odd going on. Still think he'll end up there, but it doesn't seem completely wrapped up just yet. (No, not ITK, just my own observations. Seems to be taking far too long for something that's supposedly already done to me.)
-
He'll probably manage to annoy Everton fans with that as well by suggesting we're actually a big club now
-
Can't remember the last time I saw a step-over dummy actually work at a free kick Just put the keeper slightly out of position by half a step.
-
We've actually looked pretty good this first half.
-
Best way would just be to donate through their website
-
There are so many good causes here, and anyone that nominated a charity because their lives have been affected in some way has my deepest sympathy. We do have a clear choice of the Alzheimer's Society, a very worthy cause. ---- ---- ----
-
Meh, I made that post thinking that Koeman wouldn't even think about going there. The donation stands now even in the unlikely event he doesn't actually end up there.
-
Errm... well safe to say I didn't see that going through at the time, although I also didn't see Everton chucking £7M a season at him! However, apparently unlike Koeman, I keep my word. One nomination of a registered charity per person (by way of a reply in this thread), that was registered before I made the quoted post (13 May 2016). Whichever charity has the most nominations at 11pm BST this Friday (10 June 2016) gets the donation. If there's a tie, I'll split it as evenly as possible.
