  1. Think we actually looked pretty decent there. Man Utd probably not been quite as good as us, but individual quality bailing them out.
  2. This shocking news has taken me completely and utterly by surprise.
  3. Need to keep this up, we're well in this game.
  4. Mané I would guess?
  5. As I understand it, it takes the vital metrics of every known player from a vast array of different data sources, and presents it in a way that we can compare every player based on what we need. Whereas most other teams have scouting software, ours is bespoke to be able to use several different data sources, and we seem to have been pretty good at making the data we have more accurate than most other teams have, as well as being perhaps able to compare players based on a combination of stats that other teams would find it tricky to compare, because we have it in the one system. Also we seem to have a little bit of an advantage in figuring out what we need from a player in recent years. At least, that's what's been made public in interviews. Maybe it does some other stuff that they're keeping to themselves? It's not magic, or even particularly secret, what we've done, but how we've done it is what's given us a little bit of an edge over other teams in the time we've been using it so far.
  6. Personal opinion is that Mourinho has got his agent (also Fonte's) to spread these rumours around as they're playing us next. Also, Fonte is worth more right now than he ever has been AND ever will be again. It's the biggest payday his agent will ever get on the back of him if he gets a move done. I think Fonte would probably go for it if it all comes together, but he likes it here too and he's basically on a contract until the end of his career here now. We're offering him better money for that time, want him to stay, and could keep him on the current existing contract. Fonte would have to kick up a right stink if he really wants the move (and even that might not work). My gut feeling is that he won't do that, and that he wouldn't want to do that either.
  7. Still, by the end of the season they'll probably have walked the rest of the games, and finish up only having spent twice as long in League Two as we spent in League One.
  8. An ellipsis usually has three dots, but regardless, wasn't this a build up thread for the Man Utd match at some point? Any time everyone would like to wander back towards the original topic ... I'm actually really looking forward to this. Have we ever managed three wins on the bounce at Old Trafford before?
  9. So, seems to me that Fonte is stalling on signing a new contract because he wants it to be extended an extra year instead of being the same length on better terms. Aaaand it seems to the media that Fonte is stalling on signing a new contract so it obviously means he wants to go elsewhere.
  10. Well, they have for the Man Utd game, maybe they will for the rest of ours, considering they're now subsidising for all of the away fans at our games? Does mean the club gets more income as well, for every extra away fan that turns up because of this, they'll get the full £30, £20 from the fan, and £10 from Virgin Media.
  11. The Barcelona - Leicester friendly on the other hand, that was an awesome game to watch. Leicester's new forward Ahmed Musa looks a bit good.
  12. Depends on whether you get better than 2/1 odds.
  13. pluto's almost getting half decent at this trolling thing. He'd be better at it if he mixed in some normal banter instead of making out that any action taken by the club is negative in some way.
  14. Difference was, Rosberg wasn't defending, Hamilton was in front. It wasn't Rosberg's line to push wide from. Think he was more unlucky against Verstappen today, was borderline, probably shouldn't have been penalised. His move against Hamilton probably worked against him there, put the stewards into the mindset that he might have done it deliberately again.
  15. Quite funny that despite supposedly being cash rich now, Everton are still, well, Everton. Likely that they'll improve eventually this window, but so far... Koeman has be wondering if he made the right choice.
  16. Almost felt like Rosberg was giving up on his title chances today with that drive. Never even looked like challenging for the race after Hamilton took the first corner. Losing that big a lead in the Championship that quickly will take some mental strength to come back from, and I don't think Rosberg has it. He may well end up in the conversation for best drivers to never win the title.
  17. http://www.thefightingcock.co.uk/forum/threads/mauricio-pochettino.8930/page-395 Their fans seem to be taking it well.
  18. Ah fair enough, was hearing that second hand.
  19. I think they actually lost the whole forum, including all the old content, with everyone having to sign up again.

  21. Pfft, whether or not I exist doesn't really matter, it's real enough to me.
  22. Most scientists, when asked whether God exists, will answer "I don't know", and I'm a scientist at heart. There's a wonderful line between science and religion, where the difficult questions are asked. I don't believe that any human interpretation of God, told and retold over thousands of years, has much chance of being accurate, especially when I've seen those stories change just in my lifetime, and new religions invented. At the same time, I exist now, there's something different about this brain of mine and these eyes of mine that mean I'm looking out from them. A point in the timeline of this universe where I went from not existing to existing. That means that before I was born, there was some quirk, some aspect of this universe that meant it was possible for me to start existing. How that quirk got there, whether it's always been there, whether it will always be there, those are the questions that Science can't answer, and may never be able to.
  23. Awesome news
  24. http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=pt&u=http://www.maisfutebol.iol.pt/selecao/selecao-nacional/camara-de-penafiel-quer-atribuir-medalha-de-ouro-da-cidade-a-jose-fonte&prev=search Looks like there's a decent chance he'll be given the equivalent of the keys to his home city.
  25. If he has a good work ethic then Pochettino has a decent chance of getting the best out of him. Does still seem a bit overpriced though.
