'Southampton in Europa' - by The Red Stripez
Jimmy_D replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Somehow it's better than it has any right to be -
Think he means Sibley was possibly trolling.

He used to actually talk football, in between wumming, doesn't seem to be bothering with that now. We're keeping an eye on him.
-
He means anyone that doesn't bite on his trolling.

Just to be clear, I have no ITK credentials at all. Just my own observation that normally we get an indication from the club on Twitter that we're done.
-
Normally we'd already know if we were already done? We might just have something in the works here...
-
Just got back. We looked excellent the first half hour, their keeper kept them in it and on another day we'd have been 2 or 3 up, until we started to tail off a bit. That was also the point that Mason started to look for any decision he could possibly give against us, he was an utter joke today, and we just couldn't seem to get any momentum, partly because of that. Thought we did well to get the equaliser, even if the goal itself was lucky, we were well worth it and their keeper was due a mistake with the amount we were throwing at him. Unlucky not to go on and win it in the end. On to the next one.

Like that

Oh Lutalo It doesn't get any better the next day. That might be the most gutted I've been watching sport. All he had to do was step back at the restart, nothing the other guy could have done. He thought it was already over, let his guard go just slightly, didn't finish it off, and now he has to work for four years just to give himself a chance of putting that right.
-
He really doesn't like us after last season
-
Neither of those decisions would have gone the other way.
-
Think we actually looked pretty decent there. Man Utd probably not been quite as good as us, but individual quality bailing them out.
-
This shocking news has taken me completely and utterly by surprise.
-
Need to keep this up, we're well in this game.
-
Mané I would guess?

As I understand it, it takes the vital metrics of every known player from a vast array of different data sources, and presents it in a way that we can compare every player based on what we need. Whereas most other teams have scouting software, ours is bespoke to be able to use several different data sources, and we seem to have been pretty good at making the data we have more accurate than most other teams have, as well as being perhaps able to compare players based on a combination of stats that other teams would find it tricky to compare, because we have it in the one system. Also we seem to have a little bit of an advantage in figuring out what we need from a player in recent years. At least, that's what's been made public in interviews. Maybe it does some other stuff that they're keeping to themselves? It's not magic, or even particularly secret, what we've done, but how we've done it is what's given us a little bit of an edge over other teams in the time we've been using it so far.

Personal opinion is that Mourinho has got his agent (also Fonte's) to spread these rumours around as they're playing us next. Also, Fonte is worth more right now than he ever has been AND ever will be again. It's the biggest payday his agent will ever get on the back of him if he gets a move done. I think Fonte would probably go for it if it all comes together, but he likes it here too and he's basically on a contract until the end of his career here now. We're offering him better money for that time, want him to stay, and could keep him on the current existing contract. Fonte would have to kick up a right stink if he really wants the move (and even that might not work). My gut feeling is that he won't do that, and that he wouldn't want to do that either.
-
Still, by the end of the season they'll probably have walked the rest of the games, and finish up only having spent twice as long in League Two as we spent in League One.

An ellipsis usually has three dots, but regardless, wasn't this a build up thread for the Man Utd match at some point? Any time everyone would like to wander back towards the original topic ... I'm actually really looking forward to this. Have we ever managed three wins on the bounce at Old Trafford before?
-
So, seems to me that Fonte is stalling on signing a new contract because he wants it to be extended an extra year instead of being the same length on better terms. Aaaand it seems to the media that Fonte is stalling on signing a new contract so it obviously means he wants to go elsewhere.
-
Well, they have for the Man Utd game, maybe they will for the rest of ours, considering they're now subsidising for all of the away fans at our games? Does mean the club gets more income as well, for every extra away fan that turns up because of this, they'll get the full £30, £20 from the fan, and £10 from Virgin Media.

The Barcelona - Leicester friendly on the other hand, that was an awesome game to watch. Leicester's new forward Ahmed Musa looks a bit good.
-
Depends on whether you get better than 2/1 odds.

pluto's almost getting half decent at this trolling thing. He'd be better at it if he mixed in some normal banter instead of making out that any action taken by the club is negative in some way.
