Because it makes his club look better, because it makes it easier for Howe to go back and not get abuse from his own fans. Why would he be interviewed for the job, have a discussion with NC about how it would work and come away to be offered the job and then turn it down? That makes no sense at all, if he wasn't happy with the set up then I'm sure that would have come out at the interview. Edit: Also funny that he has turned it down, given that we offered Adkins the job this morning!!
-
S****horpe's Chairman also claimed a lot of things earlier today, which now appear to have been complete ****** so forgive me whilst I take what Bournemouth are saying with a large pinch of salt!

The fact that Phil Brown is spending so much time talking in the press would suggest to me that either he hasn't got the job or he's now doing a damn good job of ruling himself out - after all we know how NC likes to run the information coming out tighter than a ducks wotsit so he isn't exactly being shy with the media at the moment. And for that, I am thankful because I don't want him anywhere near looking after Saints. Plus re MLT on Talksport earlier today - I didn't hear it but I gather he was in Cortese bashing mode again. Why would anyone want to manage Saints? Please give it a break Matt - you are a legend but you are doing yourself no favours right now (whether you're right or wrong).

I cannot believe that so many people are after a big name - we already struggle being a big name in this division, imagine the pressure with a big name manager. Nigel Adkins plays football the right way, is experienced in this division & the Championship and most importantly knows how to get out of L1. If people ignore everyone who has a relegation on their CV then we'll just kepp waiting for Sir Alex, Arsene or Jose to take the job shall we? And please no KK, it always ends in tears with him... and if we appoint him then prepared to be let down.

So, do we have anyone posted outside Staplewood or SMS? Pilchards is normally to be found up a tree near Staplewood at this point of the proceedings - I would imagine if anyone is unveiled today then he will meet the players first.
-
Christ, thats the deja vu taken care of - please don't go back over the great is he British or is he Irish debate again!!!

Would be happy with Adkins - plays football the right way & deserves the chance to manage a bigger club. If its Phil Brown, I will not be happy.

A sad day for motorsport so soon after the loss of Peter Lenz at the Indianapolis GP weekend last week. Didn't see it live so can't comment on the marshalling but if the race wasn't stopped then that needs to be looked at. I don't think the large field played any part in this accident, Shoya was just unlucky that his mistake meant he fell on the racing line at one of the fatest points of the circuit & that Alex De Angelis & Scott Redding were just behind him with no chance to react. RIP Shoya

Who has stated (on more than one occasion) that its his desire to see out his career with Oldham when he finishes with Man U as its his hometown club. Scholes is a complete non-starter. Sorry.

Not 100% sure but wasn't Forecast part of the settlement of a renegotiation of Bale's move as RL cashed in Bale & Walcott's sell-on clauses?

The concern I would have with Curbishley is that it has now been 2 years since he left West Ham, and he's shown little intent to get back into the management game since then. He has become another George Graham character (surprised no one has mentioned him as he always seems to crop up when we need a manager) who appears to be happy with life on the TV as an occasional pundit. So my list would be: MON, SOD, Adkins, Howe, Mowbray, Zola/Clarke
-
Would agree with your list until you mentioned KK - but I would also add Sean O'Driscoll into that list. On the face of it, pretty unlikely but I think he's taken Doncaster as far as he can go with them & he may see us as a better long term prospect (and we will probably pay better as well)
-
Well 5live would be more on the ball than Talksport - Bobby Gould covering the game for them who has just said Cortese took over following the death of the Chairman!! FFS don't bother covering the game if you are that ignorant. He mentioned Zola but probably got all of his information from the stewards!

See the guy filmed by NOTW taking money to fix the 4th test match and who owned Croydon Athletic was already being investigated for money laundering according to the beeb website. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/8963587.stm Hmm, which other team do we know that moved up through the divisions on the back of having players they could not sustain given their crowds? (And Jasmine plays for CA now!!!)

Don't know if anyone saw Phil Brown on MOTD2 on Sunday, he talked about doing lots of executive courses so he could understand his Chairman's position better. I think I'd prefer someone of WGS's ilk who filled his time by going overseas and looking at how they coach and getting new idea's on how to make the team better.

Maybe Cortese has just twigged why Pulis still gets in the squad......

The Official Summer Transfers and HCDAJFU Thread
Gorgiesaint replied to supersonic's topic in The Saints
See Tom Craddock, the Luton striker that a few on here thought CDAJFU last season has joined Oxford (according to the BBC website). -
Mark Dennis coming up on Talksport soon for those who are interested.
-
Well perhaps no surprise that he's been sacked given that NC never appeared to get on with AP, but the timing after a 4-0 away win?? Unless something has gone on behind the scenes.
-
Kanu not playing today according to the beeb as he hasn't signed his new contract yet.... more bluff from AA, not enough money on the table or not able to sign him because of the transfer embargo?
-
Haha just listening to Talksport - just announced that they've given Kanu a 3 year contract. Adrian Durham's response "What are they doing?" Mickey Quinn just laughed.
-
Same with me... working like a dream this season so far

Someone in the Nissan design office is obviously a Dilbert fan.... http://www.dilbert.com/strips/comic/2008-10-26/?CmtOrder=DateEntered&CmtDir=ASC

Markus Liebherr RIP. All tributes here please.
Gorgiesaint replied to camdijk's topic in Golden Posts
A very sad day and my thoughts are with his family. The word legend is often overused, but despite that we have had a number of legends at the club including off the pitch. Markus was definately one of those - never has one man had such a positive effect on the Saints in such a short space of time. I would agree with those calls for re-naming the stadium as the Markus Liebherr Stadium. RIP Markus.
