The Official Summer Transfers and HCDAJFU Thread

Yes it is - apparently the Record got his name wrong!! Mohamed Sissoko was named in Juventus squad last night for a pre-season friendly. -
Given how much we've paid for Dickson at a tribunal, there is no way I would want to take that chance... ...£250k up front anyone?

GarglingBoyle - coffee/laptop moment!

Good to see it's still the PL's fault though...

See the BBC rumour page is reporting that Mohamed Sissoko is having a trial with Kilmarnock according to the Daily Record. Surprised he's dropped that far down, could he be that potential ball winning midfielder for us? -
Just to add to Ashstead Saint's report, listening to Talksport's 'financial expert' he talked about the primary issue being in line with Ashstead - i.e. image rights taxation. Good work Ashstead Saint.

Hmm 24 hour trail and you get a free Southend programme? I'll stay in the pub thanks!! (Good to see the communication director or whatever he was called has his finger on the pulse) -
Be interesting to know what they are looking for in the rules of association - neither has any relevence to insolvency law.

Confirmed that AA not in court He he and they still Admin Andy might be good for them!

Your quote was that the squad "is significantly weaker in all departments than the squad that finished last season". It's a question of balance - I'm concerned because I'd like some cover for Morgan but I'm not panicking as you appear to be. Re players we've missed out on - go on name one player signed by L1 club that you wish we signed... go on... just one? You ignored it because you can't name anybody. Yes, Simon Gillett was signed by Doncaster - do you think AP would have let him go if he didn't rate him? He let him go on loan for most of last season & had a couple of looks to see how good he was. Obviously, AP doesn't rate him so he's deadwood at the club. You may have a different opinion, as do I but it's AP's view that counts. If it helps, I would have re-signed Gillett but then I'm not the manager at SFC.

I would be surprised if HMRC didn't go in with all guns blazing. Not sure how they would stand if a new CVA were prepared which they then appealed but only then brought up the issues surrounding Pompey's image rights - I would think that they would need to have mentioned them first time round.
-
As saintjay77 says: the FL won't provide Pompey with their share to allow then to play in the FL if they don't pay the football creditors 100%. The CVA already produced has already established that the offer is to pay 100% to those creditors, so to deviate from that, would IMO, need a new CVA. What would concern me is that if, as I expect, this CVA is deemed invalid by the court then AA tries with another CVA only paying the football creditors 20p in the pound, but Chainrai secures further debt against the club to pay the football creditors. He will, in effect be using the clubs money to pay the football debts, but because it goes through his own account then it's not illegal. He will then be repaid by the parachute monies a couple of years down the line. The only question is whether there are sufficient parachute monies available to repay Chainrai the £15-20m he's already stumped up plus additional funds to clear the football creditors and keep PFC afloat in the meantime. Thoughts?

Not UHY Hacker Young... interesting. The judge will be very disappointed that Mr Andronikou hasn't turned up for a court appearance where he is named! edit:well done Weston, beat me to it

Totally in agreement Scummer, I won't be renewing this time round. I've been increasingly finding myself in a position where I type out a response to thread & then delete it rather than press send as just cannot be bothered with dealing with the 'response' from certain posters.
-
Questions - does anyone know when the £16m of parachute money is due to be paid this season? And how much will the few actually get this season? I'm just concerned that plan A is to use that money and that they might just get enough to keep them going.

Well considering Frimpong started against Milan yesterday, it would appear that he's not going to be joining us in the near future. -
It wasn't an option - Antonio was out of contract at the end of last season so it was up to him where he went. Reading were always going to offer him a contract so it increased the amount of compensation we were due to pay if he joined us. As it's turned out, Reading seem to be offering him something similar to what we were offering (ie 1st change off the bench) but in a division higher so no surprise that he's stayed with them. But in terms of us missing a trick - no, we did what we could. HTH.
-
Let's be honest CEC, we've lost Papa Waigo & Antonio* - the rest were deadwood in a squad that was bloated with mediocrity. There are arguments (and I was surprised) that we didn't keep Lloyd James but to says we're significantly weaker in all depts other than full back is over-egging it somewhat. But yes we are weaker in key area's. However who would you have bought that has been transferred so far - who have we missed out on? Don't say Antonio because he isn't going anywhere & I'm sure we would have spoken to Reading about signing him. (Prof - you can answer that as well) Am I concerned as well - yes. I would rather we had a bit more cover in place, but so far AP has gone about things in the right way. I'm happy that he takes his time and gets the right player rather than just filling the squad with players who won't be up to it. * assuming Bart re-signs as appears likely now

Andronikou disputes the calculations and pointed out that the total claim was around £14 million as recently as February. "If Portsmouth are being held to account for image rights, I would hate to imagine what would happen if this was applied to Manchester United, Chelsea or Arsenal," said Andronikou. "There is no way the club has paid out enough money to have created this liability. Priceless - of course you haven't actually paid, and that's the point!!!
-
Typical - although he wasn't the only ex-Saint on the scoresheet today. See Surman got Norwich's 2nd against Everton & Leon Best scored for Newcastle against PSV Eindhoven.

Yes there is a restriction in the covenant in the title to the ground stating the land should only be used for recreational purpose but as GM shoes below, it's not that difficult to overcome. Just consider: 1) If Pompey are liquidated, they are providing a ground elsewhere for what? PFC won't exist so any parks pitch will do for its replacement 2) If the council are that reticent to release the restriction, then consider what a few years with rusting, decaying s**thole of a stadium is like - and then consider it after a few years with no-one actually playing there. The council will soon change their mind - a manilla envelope with cash always seals the deal!
-
Well done you - you can keep repeating your line in as patronising manner as possible but it still doesn't mean I could get to the ticket office in working hours without missing work commitments. Yes I could have pulled a sicky at work. However i tried the phone lines as much as I could & couldn't get trough. The original point to Stu was that every fan who wanted a ticket got one - I didn't for a start - was the game a sell out? Yes, did it help my cause that Stu had 30 tickets - no. End of discussion.
