The Official Summer Transfers and HCDAJFU Thread

Wouldn't be surprised to see Man Utd pick him up. Bit shocked that despite the mix up, he's decided to leave Everton where he was getting some first team football. Seems to indicate that he's had a big offer from elsewhere i.e. Man Utd, Chelsea or even Arsenal. -
The snooze site really is a laugh a minute this morning. AA is using his greek nous to try and get £1m for Diop from AEK Athens. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/Diop-to-plead-for-Pompey.6404619.jp?CommentPage=1&CommentPageLength=10#comments Only problem is they appear to be paying his wages but don't actually have a valid work permit so he can't get into the country even to train. You couldn't make it up.
-
The article has been unable to display. Perhaps they've been told to by AA to pull it, it's far too negative and may indicate to the masses that all is not well!

Okay, here's the geography bit for you (courtesy of my wallchart!) Heights above sea level Jo'Burg 1753m Rustenburg 1500m Bloemfontain 1400m Polokwane 1310m Pretoria 1214m ------------------- Nelspruit 660m ------------------- Durban, Port Elizabeth & Cape Town 0m So you basically have 3 groups - the high veldt up near Jo'burg, the low veldt (Nelspruit) and sea level. Numbers of games at each level: (includes final & 3rd place match) group knock-out total High Veldt 29 8 37 Low Veldt 4 0 4 Sea Level 15 8 23 So the majority of the games have been at altitude. With regards to the ball - I know the Germans have been using it for some time (6 months or so) in their domestic game. Maybe that has helped them. HTH

Well the ref from Uzbekistan was on tonight - think he was one of the other hotly tipped refs in the media.
-
This. Because he's such an arrogant c**k. Please whoever wins tomorrow night beat the Dutch in the final. My Dutch relatives will be unbearable if they win and I can't believe that I might even have to support the Germans.

I don't think that we've quite got used to the way transfers are done now. This was out of the blue & no-one called it. £450k (which I reckon will be all in so maybe £250k up front) is not a massive amount for a player who should be able to do a job at NPC level. The Charlton fans are not happy, and trying to cover by saying its a lot for a L1 RB. At least this should soothe the fears of some on here - so we can start guessing who's next? But whoever & whenever it is, we now have a nailled on starting XI for Plymouth on 7th August so we can sit back, relax and wait for next bolt from the blue.

Any comment from our alpine correspondant?

Much better option than Boateng as well - it says much for Celtic if he's on trial there. -
They don't learn & it seems to be catching.... Maybe paying him the small amount in the first place might have helped David?

Thats a shame! As I said, I didn't think it would work the way I had speculated but that would have made some sense in having a £3 fee where the customer touches the ticket office twice (phone booking & collection) and a £2 matchday fee where the ticket office is touched once. Of course, it does nothing to explain why you get a £3 fee for booking on-line in advance as all they have to do is stick them in an envelope.
-
The booking fee only starts to make any sense if it is only applied in say the last week before the game. If you book late over the phone, you still have to queue at the ticket office to collect the ticket - meaning that you take up 2 lots of tickets office time. If you just turn up and buy on the day, the ticket office only touches you once - and lets face it, its as quick to sell a ticket from scratch than it is to find an envelope with tickets & then check it is the right person collecting them. (remember NC is trying to make each dept cover its costs) If you could book tickets more than a week in advance without the booking fee then that would make sense, it would encourage people to book early. I'm not saying that is what is going to happen but it is interesting that people have booked tickets for Bournemouth and not been charged the fee. That has to help the club control its costs much better, how many stewards are required, buy in perishables (food & drink) and so on, all that can be controlled to reduce wastage and reduce costs. Whilst it would then encourage early purchase, it does discourage people making a late decision and coming to the game at the last minute.

Having emailed the club yesterday, I had a reply this morning from Lee Hetherington who said they were having a few problems with the data cleanse. He asked me to forward my address & customer number and he would sort the problem for me. He seems to be the best person to contact if anyone else is having issues, his email address is lhetherington@saintsfc.co.uk.

Looks good - particularly away from home. Possibly swap Barnard for either the New DM or Hammond when we're at home? -

Think he was already crossed off the list but Prutton has signed for Swindon http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/swindon_town/8787513.stm -
Would agree that Sheffield Wednesday & Huddersfield will be the main challengers this season. On the Swindon front, see they signed Prutton today. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/swindon_town/8787513.stm

No, its was highlighted on the release from the club that tickets would only be sold to people on the database. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/TicketNews/0,,10280~2080054,00.html Can I suggest that if you still want to go (despite the best efforts of the club), get them to add you to the databse & then try booking on-line - it might just let you book. All in all, very poor from the club. I am concerned that I have been deleted as well as I cannot log into the data cleanse so I might find myself in the same position. I would also email David Luker, he has been helpful in the past in resolving issues.

21st November 1885 was the formation date. Its on the OS under club - then history. Edit: Here's the link http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1695718,00.html

How about waiting until 21st November - after all that is when the 125th anniversary actually is. Edit: Now thats a Sunday - we play Peterborough on the Saturday & Brighton on the Tuesday so getting anything that weekend would be trickey, but the following weekend Sat 27th / Sunday 28th is free at the moment - not sure if its FA Cup weekend?
-
Sorry - feel the need to resurrect this thread. I've gone to check the data which the club hold on me (which was wrong last season & I would actually like to know they have my correct info) and it says my customer number is incorrect. This is the same customer number that I used to book JPT tickets for last season. Anyway, have gone to the request form to get the correct number so I can log on & it keeps saying 'setting error'. Anyone else had this problem & know what the fix is, or who might be the best person to speak to? Thanks in advance.

Not to mention the 'What is it?' thread which has turned into Car Parking 2 - 4 Parking Meter's & CEO!
-
Is that some inside info or just speculation?

...but he is quite chunky! -
Wasn't NC by any chance?

Well its a bloody hard industry to make money in - 20 PL teams would attest to that. Let's hope he's not in to double his pile of cash because I think he'll be somewhat disappointed.
