  1. The difference being that both players have changed their games over the last few years as they've got older, and the system we'll play tonight (and against most other teams at international level) won't involve the two of them playing directly alongside each other getting in each other's way, as used to be the case. Gerrard plays much deeper these days, Lampard will be almost up alongside Lambert tonight. I wouldn't expect Lampard to play on Tuesday, would think Hodgson will bring in a bit more energy, which probably means Cleverley, rightly or wrongly.
  2. According to someone in another thread, the Kingsland isn't open for the Bristol City game.
  3. Confirmed, Lambert starts
  4. That might be the way we go in Kiev next week but there's nothing to suggest we'll do that at home against one of the group minnows. We won 5-0 in Chisinau a year ago, and were 3-0 up inside half an hour so it's not as if we're afraid to attack. I'd expect something like this tomorrow night: Hart Walker - Jagielka - Cahill - Cole Gerrard - Wilshere Lampard/Cleverley Walcott - Lambert - Welbeck Fully expected Lambert to be on the bench originally, but now Sturridge is out there's no reason for him not to start IMO.
  5. Florian Marange, signed on a free from Bordeaux. Played 23 times for them last season, so seems to have at least some pedigree, and must be there or thereabouts as he was chucked into their second string side at Bristol City last week. Now left out of the 25 altogether!
  6. He's done that with one other player as well. Very odd.
  7. Yeah, unfortunately the system doesn't appear to be able to cope with even that most basic check/restriction. I hope the club kept the receipt...
  8. This isn't even an outsourcing issue, the club don't allow you to buy away tickets over the phone, so the call centre they occasionally use when it's particularly busy doesn't get involved here. This is a policy decision by the club - they've tried to tell people they've called in the last day or so that it's a Premier League ruling that they're enforcing (without providing any evidence that such a rule exists - there is nothing within the Premier League's 530-page handbook which makes any reference to this), and when that's then questioned, "it's club policy as well".
  9. This has definitely been the case. As an example, we took around 4,000 to Wigan away last season. Apparently more than 500 of those 4,000 were kids tickets at a fiver a pop. There is absolutely no way that one eighth of our support up there was under 18 It's a lot more prevalent at away games where they do very good deals for kids. West Ham last season, for example, was £39 for adults and kids for a quid. I know loads of adults who bought kids tickets but because turnstiles at most grounds are barcode scanners rather than a man in a booth manually checking them, they just sail straight through. There's never anyone checking for concession tickets. I don't see why it's Saints' responsibility to check who they're selling tickets to - it's up to the home club to police their turnstiles properly. If someone's tried to pull a fast one, they should either send them to the ticket office to pay the difference, or - and this would be an infinitely better deterrent - rip the ticket up and tell them to **** off.
  10. Prices for most of the other games in the third round have been announced: Aston Villa v Spurs - Adults: £15-20, Concessions: £10 Birmingham v Swansea - A: £15, C: £4-10 Burnley v Nott'm Forest - not announced yet Fulham v Everton - A: £20, C: £5-10 Hull v Huddersfield - A: £12, C: £3-8 Leicester v Derby - A: £15, C: £1-15 (seniors pay the same as adults at Leicester) Man City v Wigan - not announced yet Man United v Liverpool - A: £40-47, C: £13-36  Newcastle v Leeds - not announced yet Southampton v Bristol City - A: £18, C: £5-14 Sunderland v Peterborough - A: £10, C: £5 Swindon v Chelsea - A: £25, C: £12-19 Tranmere v Stoke - A: £15.50-17.50, C: £3-10 Watford v Norwich - A: £15, C: £5-10 West Brom v Arsenal - A: £15, C: £5-10 West Ham v Cardiff - A: £15, C: £10 Summary: we're more expensive than every game except 3 all-Premier League ties and one lower league v big PL club tie. The only real comparison (i.e. PL team at home to League One team) is Sunderland, who - as mentioned previously - are charging a tenner.
  11. 438 all out in the end.
  12. Their name's on the cup
  13. Bet it won't. We'll be lucky to get 10k, IMO, with those prices, and only the games at Burnley, Watford, Birmingham and Tranmere will be anywhere near as low.
  14. Yeah, I always thought that was a bit of a strange one

    Spurs

He's only out for a month.
  16. They're trying to cram the entire tour into such a small period of time. Full itinerary: Tour match v Leicestershire - June 26-28, Leicester Tour match v Derbyshire - July 1-3, Derby 1st Test - July 9-13, Trent Bridge 2nd Test - July 17-21, Lord's 3rd Test - July 27-31, Ageas Bowl 4th Test - August 7-11, Old Trafford 5th Test - August 15-19, The Oval 50-over match v Middlesex - August 22, Lord's 1st ODI - August 25, Bristol 2nd ODI - August 27, Sophia Gardens 3rd ODI - August 30, Trent Bridge 4th ODI - September 2, Edgbaston 5th ODI - September 5, Headingley Only T20I - September 7, Edgbaston So there's 3 days rest between the first and second Tests, 5 between second and third, 6 between third and fourth, and 3 between fourth and fifth. After two back-to-back Tests, they'd usually have a 9 or 10-day break. They're all going to be absolutely ****ed after the Oval Test
  17. A couple of years back we were in the same division. There are now 53 places between us in the league.
  18. While this is technically true, the way it usually works is that the home team tells the away team what they are proposing to charge, and the away team will only disagree if they think they'll lose out heavily. Saints won't have asked Bristol City what they think we should charge, let's put it that way.
  19. So the ECB have announced that the India test match at the Rose Bowl next year will run from Sunday to Thursday. It's almost as if they want the venue to fail...
  20. I think there's a bit of a "carrot and stick" approach from Pochettino with Chambers - basically, until today he'd played pretty well, and as the man in possession of the shirt, until he does something to deserve being dropped then he'd keep his place. From a player motivation perspective, it makes sense, otherwise where's the motivation for any player - not just Chambers - to perform if they know that even if they don't put a foot wrong they'll be out of the team as soon as someone else regains fitness after an injury? Redmond gave him a torrid time today, and I was surprised he wasn't taken out of the firing line in the second half when Clyne's pace and greater experience might have prevented the goal. I fully expect Clyne to be back in the side after the international break.
  21. Both games against them were moved for this last season. We won on away goals
  22. I would appreciate the input of someone who knows their way around financial matters.... My interpretation is that they are basically saying they can do whatever they (The PST) want with the money you have put in, if they decide against it then cannot claim back your cash.... cheers for the donation guys, it's ours to squander! P.S.... please give us more. Sounds like a Ponzi scheme to me, you can only withdraw funds if there are other funds coming in to replace you.
  23. If you arrive at a decent time (e.g. if you plan to watch the womens game that starts at 2pm), you'd probably be able to park in the side streets near the West End Brewery pub. 15 minute walk from there.
  24. Barely 6 months, IIRC
