Morning all We've been invited to play against West Brom's supporters team on the morning before the PL game at the Hawthorns on Saturday 17th August. It'll be 11-a-side, 90 minutes, probably a 10:30 or 11:00 kick-off somewhere in the West Bromwich area. If you've seen us play before, you'll know there's not really much of a requirement for any decent playing standard but depending on numbers you'll probably need a moderate level of fitness. Full (striped!) kit is provided, so you would only need boots and shinpads. If anybody is interested in playing, please let me know asap Oh, and as an aside, here are some other dates with likely games: 19th October: Man United (away) 2nd November: Stoke (away) 9th November: Hull (home) 7th December: Man City (home) 11th January: West Brom (home) 8th February: Stoke (home) 22nd February: West Ham (away) 5th April: Man City (away) 10th May: Man United (home)

I'm not sure who has been the most mental here, Chelsea for offering that sort of deal or Man United for rejecting it

No settings have been changed at our end, it's possible that Tapatalk has updated its API to automatically change everybody's notification status. At least there seem to be relatively simple steps to turn it off again.

Don't get me wrong, I completely agree, but as we've seen particularly exposed by our beach-dwelling neighbours, clubs will charge whatever they think they can get away with. Last season they got burned badly with pathetic attendances as a result of arranging far too many home games and then charging £25 for the only two that most people would have been remotely interested in, so at least they've made some sort of attempt at getting more people in the ground for this game.
-
£18 isn't completely horrendous, the price is certainly going in the right direction when compared with last summer's shambles. I suspect that as we've only got one home friendly this season, it'll probably be a decent attendance for this one.

Seems unlikely, Forren seemed to make it pretty clear Adkins had no part in the deal when he spoke in a press conference shortly after he signed. From what I remember, he said that he never met Adkins and that he was made aware that there was going to be a change a couple of weeks before NA got the boot.

That's based on a "new" season ticket, not a renewal.

Players wanted - 11-a-side tournament in Preston, 20/21 July

The internet fans' team is taking part in the annual WorldNET tournament in Preston next weekend, we've currently got a squad of 12 but could do with swelling those numbers up to 14 or 15 if possible. The tournament runs over both Saturday and Sunday, with 3 group games on the Saturday and a knockout competition on the Sunday. Games are 11-a-side, 15 minutes each way. Naturally at this relatively short notice, this would ideally suit someone living in or near Lancashire, although I may be able to get accommodation for the Friday and Saturday nights, which would be £50 on a room-only basis. If anyone's interested, please let me know asap. -
Having been impressed with the work he's done with a number of the overseas Saints supporters groups - whether they're official groups or just fans who have come together from the same country - I'm delighted to announce that aussiesaint20 has been appointed as a Moderator for this part of the site. Together, we're looking at how we can better bring all the various supporters groups (domestic and overseas) on SaintsWeb to create a better and more useful community for everyone. One of those is to enable private sub-forums for those supporters groups if they so wish, to provide a free central location for their discussions and to help those looking for local advice for holidays, work, etc get the information they're after from like-minded Saints fans. If anyone has any ideas they wish to share on how we can make this better, please get in touch.

I suspect it varies. For some games they'll charge a fixed fee (most likely the long-haul trips to other continents), but others it'll be a revenue-sharing agreement. I imagine with Bournemouth it's the latter, hence the eye-wateringly high prices.

Travel Club Doing Official Package For Pre Season
stevegrant replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
A good idea, but one they should have come up with as soon as they released details of the tour, ideally. Most people who would ordinarily have looked at travelling for these games would have sorted their travel and accommodation independently within a day or two, so I'd be surprised if they get enough interest in order to make an official package worthwhile. -
Nice sponsor

I can only suggest that you experiment with different reply options - go to your General Settings page (link here), scroll down to the "Miscellaneous Options" section and change which version of the Message Editor Interface you're using. If you don't tend to use smileys or any sort of fancy text formatting, you can probably use the "Basic Editor - a simple text box" option. That should speed things up a bit.

Difficult to go too far wrong with an away shirt (although obviously they managed it quite impressively last season ), you've basically got every colour other than the one(s) used in the main shirt to choose from - even blue has been acceptable in the past. The black one's smart enough, albeit still pretty basic, and £50 for a shirt that'll get worn half a dozen times or so is still obscene.
-
At the risk of being seen to take MLG's side in an argument (never a comfortable position at the best of times), nowhere on the poll does it specify stripes, it's merely an appraisal of the new shirt, i.e. whether the voters like the shirt or not. Certainly true that only 19% (rounded up) actually like the new shirt, 66% don't like it and only 17% will actually part with their cash. That's not a positive reaction no matter how you spin the figures.
-
Why is this an "either or" choice? Quite a few other clubs have been able to maintain tradition while being successful.
-
Ah, I wondered how long it would take before this one came up. So because we almost went bust 4 years ago, we're no longer allowed an opinion on anything to do with the club?

The in-house sales only policy made sense in the lower leagues as it meant that the profits from a relatively limited scope for sales were retained by the club. Now we're in the top flight and supposedly marketing to a global audience, surely the club should be actively encouraging sales in other retail outlets in order to grow the club's "brand image" That image surely can't expand too much if the club continues to only sell the shirts at St Mary's and West Quay retail outlets.
