  1. As some of you may have stumbled upon, the SaintsWeb main site is now live. You can find it at http://www.saintsweb.co.uk You can find news updates, match reports and columns on there at the moment, and it will be expanded substantially over the coming weeks and months. Features that will be implemented soon include: 1. Comprehensive Stats section :: Fixtures and Results (including previous seasons) :: Player Profiles (past and present) :: League Tables 2. Southampton Pub Guide 3. Away Ground Guide 4. Supporters' Gallery Visitors to the site are welcome to leave comments below articles on the site, although they will be moderated to begin with. We will review that policy once the site's been running for a while. If you have any queries, complaints or general comments about the site, please either contact a site admin via private message on this forum or send an e-mail to webmaster@saintsweb.co.uk
  2. Yes, to which I believe they received a private written reply, and also invitations to meetings with representatives of SISU.
  3. I've never said that people haven't had a look, but then I've often walked past the window of various shops thinking I'd like to buy something in there but then never bothered to go back. There has still only ever been one officially recorded "offer", the one from SISU. The silence from Crouch, Lowe and Wilde as to why that deal never progressed has been deafening.
  4. To be honest, the first goal should count as a Saints goal from open play. McGoldrick did all the hard work and his cross/shot across the face of goal would either have gone in on its own anyway or would have been converted by Surman (I think) who was rushing in on it at the far post.
  5. Lucky in the sense that the Doncaster defender decided to put in a stupid challenge even though Lallana wasn't going anywhere, definite foul though.
  6. I thought he and Lancashire in particular played very well, particularly second half. We perhaps defended a bit too high up the pitch in the first half and got caught with a couple of long balls over the top, but they didn't have much to do in the second half at all.
  7. Also the near-zero purchase price of ITFC might have had something to do with it.
  8. Wotton was at the back alongside Olly Lancashire, and moved into midfield when Perry came on for Schneiderlin.
  9. Not sure where the "dodgy" penalty claims have come from - having been at the game, it was as clear cut as you could get, and I don't remember any of the Doncaster players complaining. In fact, the same goes for the second one, for which the defender should have been sent off. First half was pretty even, they perhaps shaded it on chances, but second half we were comfortably the better side - I don't remember Davis making a difficult save after the break.
  10. 178/8 to 400/9 declared Latest Table: 1. Nottinghamshire 182 2. Somerset 174 3. Durham 173 (3 batting points still available) 4. Hampshire 164 5. Lancashire 156 6. Sussex 154 (5 batting points still available) 7. Kent 153 (2 bowling points still available) 8. Yorkshire 152 (3 bowling points still available) 9. Surrey 124 I reckon it's Notts' title. The more interesting battle is now down at the foot of the table.
  11. Surprisingly, I agree with you on almost every point. The main disagreement is over your description of the iPhone as a "status symbol". Given that plenty of Joe Publics have the iPhone, I'd hardly describe it as a status symbol. As for the keyboard, it works fine on any phone as long as you don't have fat fingers. Even the on-screen keyboard on the iPhone isn't totally fatty-proof...
  12. Also, don't forget that the pro cricketers only use the video technology when it's a featured game on Sky. For all other county games, it's done on the opinion of the standing umpires alone.
  13. Also, a nice big LOL at Sussex... they had Yorkshire pretty much dead and buried at 80/6 and then 178/8. Yorkshire are currently 328/9, having put on a ridiculous 140 for the 9th wicket!
  14. They'll be looking for Schteve next...
  15. The funniest bit will be when they start singing Vegetables' name and fail to spot the irony...
  16. Au contraire. There's plenty of people who'd like to buy SFC. However, there's not many at all who are actually able to do so.
  17. HMRC will only be able to block the CVA if they (and other creditors opposing the CVA) hold 25% or more of the debt. Given the massive sums owed to Norwich Union and Barclays, I'd say it's highly unlikely they'd be able to block it on their own. Even with that information, I still maintain that administration is simply not a road we want to be going down. Simply, there are no guaranteed benefits.
  18. Wouldn't be surprised to see the FA add a few games to his suspension, seeing as it was against United. I'd be interested to hear Phil Brown's reaction to that when it happens...
  19. That as well.
  20. So did Leeds...
  21. Of course it's an over-reaction. We've been losing to teams like Rotherham in the cup for as long as I've been going to games. Just off the top of my head: Port Vale, Shrewsbury, Stockport, Fulham (when they were two divisions below us), Rotherham (twice), Notts County, Bristol Rovers, Tranmere, Peterborough...
  22. Beer isn't available to away fans in the ground at the Keepmoat.
  23. and of course most of that is on PPV in this country as well.
  24. They didn't intentionally ditch it, it was because the Competition Commission at the EU and the Monopolies Commission in the UK decided that Sky couldn't have exclusive rights over ALL of the live Premier League games. So, in the interests of "increased competition and a better deal for the consumer", fans now get to pay £129.90 for 10 months' worth of Setanta Sports instead of the £50 Prem Plus season ticket. What fantastic value.
  25. Blame Liverpool, Everton and ManYoo (and probably a few others as well, to be fair) for threatening the Football League back in the late 70s with a breakaway league if they didn't change the rules to ensure the home club kept all of the gate receipts.
