Ah no, see above Frankie, I'm cursing you Chris

Tell me about it, at 7am it was a sure fire winner. By 9am having read various comments about it not being sure to stay ( which was a possibility but still looked a good thing) a few doubts had crept in and then a small walk in the market and then at about 10am the wretched HT tipping Elenora Muse and suddenly the only thing I thought I knew was that I seemed to know nothing ! From then on the die was well and truly cast, I could have found any number of reasons NOT to back Mullionmileanhour but did so anyway. On to the next and despite saying neither Omokoroa or Persian Peril would not want the going to be too quick I went and backed them anyway. Persian Peril finishing 3rd @10/1 only made things worse as I considered going ew but decided against that without again really knowing why. Still it was not all doom and gloom, I was on both Contract Catererer and Bosss Destination EACH WAY in the finale and surely some reward awaited. Well it did with CC finishing 3rd at 7/1 and my 10's looking pretty good but fair to say by then I was only really interested in a nice priced winner. Finally 2 good looking types against the field in the 7.30 at Bath. However, by then Frankie had tipped Compton Blue, my ew selection, Cheam Forever, had been backed into 9/2 and my win bet gone walkabouts to 12/1. So Cheam Forever decides not to even look like winning whilst Full Victory manages to get beaten a head ( or was it a neck, who cares !) by said Compton Blue. At least I did manage NOT to back King Roonah, oh joy of joys !

Lol, since none have any real chance,( Super Frank looks the pick but looks anything but Super !) that looks likely to be 3 losing bets in one race and following the worst reason in the world and backing horses due to their name. Sheer folly Good luck my son, you'll need it though my comments are quite likely to give you a much needed helping hand ! Chris Edit: Only just noticed this "Not much I fancy over jumps tonight, but I will have a few quid on Bernie'stheboss in the 7.50 at Perth as my brother is called Bernie (I know it's the way to the poor house) " Pulled up, I rest my case !

Ok, my bets/mentions today, my luck must change! York 1.40 Judge 'N' Jury - e/w. @14/1 (General)/Fol Hollow e/w @ 11/1 (Bet 365) Judge 'N' Jury is not ideally drawn in stall 15 but he is a very experienced sprinter who ran well in a better race than this on his reappearance. This looks his easiest assignment for some time and he has a win from a six pound higher mark to his name, so he is weighted to get very competitive. All eight of his career victories have come at the minimum trip and all ground seems to come alike to him. The yard have struggled for winners on the turf for a while now but there have been more encouraging signs from their horses recently. Fol Hollow could be in the handicappers grip but this fast five furlongs could suit a horse who has plenty of early toe and he has been a model of consistency over the past 12 months. The stable jockey replaces the claimer who has been on board for his last two outings and fast ground suits. If he bags the lead early on he could be a difficult horse to pass under these conditions. The yard continue in good form and they have a very profitable track record. 2.10 Sariska : Only 4 go to post and hard to look beyond Sariska and Midday. Preference is for Sariska who of course followed up her Oaks win ( ahead of Midday and Flying Cloud who also runs in this) by winning the Irish Oaks last year as well. Kept off the track by slight injury but looks to have every chance today. However, at around even money it's not really worth getting involved so it's a race to watch and enjoy for me 2.40 Chabal @ 9/4: Ok, before I manage to convince myself this is not a strong bet I'm definitely siding with Chabal here to overcome the most likely challenger in Workforce. Chabal was runner up on only his 2nd start in a Group 1 race last year before running too freely in the Dewhurst. However, potential was clearly there and now moved to the Saeed bin Suroor stable and won nicely at Sandown on reappearance. With Frankie ( Dettori that is) on board looks to be a very likely winner. Workforce and the Stoute/Moore combination cannot be dismissed lightly and neither can the O'Brien trained Cape Blanco, unbeaten on 3 starts to date. 3.10 - York - Actrostic - @ 5/1 (General)/ Rainbow Peak- saver @7/2 ( Blue Square) The unbeaten Rainbow Peak heads the market but, although he looks to have the pace for this trip, he looked likely to be suited by a step up in trip this season so he could be vulnerable over this mile on his reappearance. Acrostic has posted some decent progressive form since entering handicap company and, with the yard continuing in good form, he could be straight enough to go very well on his seasonal debut. He has run well on both previous visits to this track and acts on ground on both the fast and slow side of good. Acrostic starts the campaign on a mark of 103 but that is only three pounds higher than when finishing two lengths third to Roaring Forte over this C/D last August. That looks strong form with Webbow nearly five lengths back in fourth. So Acrostic is my main bet but I'm going to cover my stake by backing Rainbow Peak as well. 3.45 An absolute minefield of a race and definitely one to swerve. Duchess Dora does seem to be well fancied so one for Kipper if he is doing his placepot! 4.20 A 17 runner field over 6f with loads of newcomers is invariably going to be a bookies benefit race and an overround figure currently of 114% is really not helpful ! Elzaam represents Michael Jarvis, who has scored with his only juvenile raider to date and this Australian-bred representative is superior to the stable winner by all accounts. The vibes from the track are very strong but at 5/2 I really think that is short enough for a horse making it's debut. 4.55 - York - King In Waiting - e/w @ 10/1 (General) This race has began to cut up and there must be doubts about some of the remaining runners seeing out this 18 furlong trip. Twist Again has no worries on that score but at around three times his price it may be worth chancing King In Waiting. He may not have seen out 22 furlongs at Pontefract last time out but he wasn't disgraced and he could be seen in a better light dropped back to today's distance. He went close over 17 furlongs at Wolverhampton last October and may have been too keen when finishing in midfield over this C/D later the same month. He runs from two pound out of the handicap here but the booking of Jamie Spencer takes the eye and his riding style will suit the selection. The stable are showing signs of hitting form and they are not in the habit of booking top jockeys very often. Perth 3.25 Right or Wrong: Only BF to go on in terms of price but likely to be a shade of odds against. The front 2 in the market are both from the Gordon Elliott stable but Right or Wrong clearly seems to be the first choice ahead of Financialregulator. The selection was not given a hard ride at this track back in April. Reverts to hurdles today but the drop in class should be more than enough to ensure he can take this race today with a very reliable jockey in Jason Maguire on board. Salisbury 4.10 Mujdeya : Another which is not going to be a great price at around 6/4. However, looks to have bags of promise and seems sure to come on from her seasonal reappearance at Newbury when showing signs of greenness. Shimmering Moment looks the obvious threat and is another open to lots of improvement. However, may well prove better at a shorter trip. Newmarket 7.25 Baylini ew @20/1 888sport : Just a small ew bet here. Really seems to go better on the AW but runs off a reduced mark today and in a wide open race where there are questions marks about most of the runners may just spring a surprise. Good luck, Chris

Other than the Brits I'd like to see Noriyuki Haga win the WSB. How many times has he been 2nd, 3/4 ? That said he seems to have been around forever, he must be pushing on to 40 at least !
-
Something more apt maybe :smt102

My God, you're as pedantic as me ! Could you please try telling Stkip it is I would HAVE placed a bet and not I would OF placed a bet

Oh to be in Watford now the WC is nearly here ! Seriously though anyone who gets involved in any kind of violence deserves all they get though I agree I can't see how this would stand up. -
That's much more like it !

TBH Ron was far more than just a brilliant header of the ball, I saw him score some cracking goals with both feet...... thus my post was tongue in cheek ! But why is he called "Big Ron" if he wasn't that big
-
Ron Davies
-
Don't be silly, still plenty of mileage in these rumours yet
-
He was about 6/1 with Skybet a few day ago !
-
Lol, force of habit naturally !

Well I clearly remember Greenidge and Richards putting on an unbeaten 200+ in a one day match in the 70's when both carrying injuries as we cruised to a win by 10 wickets ( v Gloucs or Notts maybe?). Both made centuries, MOTM went to GG I think as his injury was the worst !! I'd have these 2 in my best ever Hants eleven any day, I suspect few would disagree especially as this is NOT the Saints board
-
Thanks, interesting that neither Gordon Greenidge and Barry Richards appear, sure they had a fair few big opening partnerships though !

Somerset 243/4, looking like a draw unless both sides are keen to get a result.

At Bath tonight: 7.30 Full Victory win @7/1 ( various)/ Cheam Forever ew @9/1 ( Totesport) Perth 6.50 King Roonah: Been the subject of very good support but now trading at around 3/1 so seems to me the value has gone.

Ok, the rest of York card: 3.10 - York- Mullionmileanhour - e/w. @ 9/1 (Sportingbet) The Khalid Abdulla pair of Showcasing and Main Aim along with the Aiden O'Brien Australian Import, Starspangledbanner, will command most attention. However they all have one question or another to answer. Showcasing is a three year old taking on his elders at a time of year when that is not easy. Main Aim has to prove his well-being after his form tailed off last season and Starspangledbanner hails from a yard whose horses, for whatever reason, have been failing to shine when they have travelled. At a bigger price it may therefore be worth chancing Mullionlieanhour. He has improved with each run and, after just four outings, there could be much more to come. He has plenty to find with the principals strictly on the ratings but he produced a smart effort to run Equiano to a short head last time out at Newmarket and he is with a Trainer who knows how to produce a sprinter. This is by far the selection's stiffest task to date but he has the basic speed for a quick track like this and deserves to take his chance. 3.45 - York: Omokoroa - @ 10/1 (General) Persian Peril @ Available at 14/1 (General) A wide open handicap in which some of the more fancied runners aren't favourably drawn. Two that make some appeal are Omokoroa and Persian Peril, although neither will want the ground riding too fast. Persian Peril returned over an inadequate mile at Pontefract last month and performed well to finish 6/15, beaten eight and a half lengths. He has run some good races at this track and went close over ten furlongs from a one pound lower mark last October. He has yet to win over 12 furlongs but he does stay the trip and the likelihood of a decent gallop will suit this strong travelling type. Omokoroa has only been seen ten times but he finished in the frame six times, winning once. he returned a decent effort in a race not run to suit on his return at Yarmouth last month and that will have put him spot on for this. he stays further so a decent gallop will also suit him. he has the profile of a horse who will find further improvement this season and the yard, as well as being in good form, do well at this track. 4.20: Only 5 go to post but at least 3 could easily win this with Bahcelli, C ocktail Charlie and Majestic Myles all winners on debut. Mick Channon runs Saucy Buck and at around 7/1 is also not without chances. 4.55 - York - Contract Caterer - e/w.@ 10/1 (General)/ Bosss Destination ew@ 14/1 Contract Caterer was put firmly in his place by Wigmore Hall over ten furlongs at Newmarket last time out but that still represented an improved effort. He stayed on well in the latter stages and there are enough early pacers in this race to make it the generous gallop he needs to be seen at his best. He has improved in each of his five races since his debut this time last year and that has coincided with a step up in trip from 6 through 7 and 8 to 10 furlongs. Frankie Dettori retains faith and his strike rate at this track is not bettered by many. Bosss Destination finally looks to be running over a trip more in keeping with his breeding so is definitely worth an interest, will be disappointed if this one doesn't at the very least give us a good run for our money.

Decent run by Indian Days to finish 2nd after trying to make all but Imposing another winner for Ryan Moore and Sir Michael Stoute. Forte De Marmi not disgraced in 4th, just didn't seem to quite stay the trip.
-
Ok for Wednesday : York 1.40 : Nothing really stands out for me here so this is not a race I'll be playing in. Forte De Marmi may well prove a worthy favourite with Indian Days a decent enough chance at around 8/1 but not one I'm getting involved with. 2.10 : Summerinthecity looks another favourite with very good claims but I'm not excited by the price of around 9/4 so again going to swerve it. 2.40 : Though Aviate still catches my eye concerns about whether she'll stay the trip put me off. That aside the the Hugh Taylor tip for this race Elenora Duse merits respect at around 9/1 but another race I'm just going to watch and enjoy. 3.10 Mullionmileanhour ew @ 9/1 ( Blue Square) : Just a small interest in this one. With the 1st race fast approaching I'll post this now ! Still looking at a few and am particularly keen as is Frankie on Bosss Destination in the 4.55 though fair to say there are a few on my shortlist. Good luck Chris

Which only leads one to wonder still further how they managed to get these figures ? JFH was in my opinion also at least on a par with any player I've seen in 45 years though fair to say the lighter balls clearly favour more recent players.

Far more likely

Don't need to do the maths but I do wonder where all these 100,000 fans are ? What I do know is 777 people voted on the thread regarding keeping AP as manager and 726 were 100% in favour of him staying.
