  1. D/L is a farce even for 50 overs, in 20/20 it really does give the team batting 2nd a huge advantage. That said the game was effectively lost in the first over bowled by Sidebottom which went for 15 runs, he didn't bowl again and when the rain arrived WI were 30-0 off 2.2. I had no problem with giving the last over to Broad who along with Swann is easily our best ODI bowler IMO. It was nigh on impossible to defend 8 runs.
  2. Well finding the clowns wouldn't be a problem !!
  3. Carnarvon
  4. True, they are !
  5. Well your pessimism was certainly justified, 25-8 to Quins, Wigan back to winning wins with a good 28-10 win over Huddersfield ( nice to see Karl Pryce back and scoring a try), Saints hammered Hull KR 54-0 which might be some consolation and wins too for Castleford, Bradford, Warrington and Lucky Leeds !
  6. Pardew late for work shocker, sack him !!
  7. He is definitely a she Frankie that much I'm sure of Chris
  8. A couple of early tips for today : Newcastle 4.40 Taborcillo : Ran well at Catterick to win on his seasonal debut at Catterick over 5f. Don't believe the 6f will be a problem. Definitely looks open to further improvement and should cope with a 6lb penalty. 11/4 looks a decent price all things considered. Main market rival Whispered Times looks the obvious threat along with Tell Me A Story. Bath 5.00 Calisto Moon : Sorry Frankie but I'm with Calisto Moon as well ! Won 4 times last season including over C&D. Reckon the trip last time out was definitely not far enough and Calisto Moon was forced to go too fast too early. With the weather seemingly set fair the ground should be fine and 9/4 with PP looks a fair price.
  9. My thought as well and who else ? Fonte quite possibly, certainly don't need the uncertainty. But ah well at least we have something to talk about on a bright but boring back to work Tuesday !

    Luton

For Saints v Pompey you could almost read Watford v Luton though in the latter case the animosity was very much one sided. Used to employ not only the whole of Herts police but half the Met I reckon when Luton were in town. My trips to Luton to see Saints haven't exactly been wonderful either, crappy little ground in a crappy little town. I truly was so pleased when they lost their league status and hope they never return.
  11. How can anyone be sure that any new manager would be as good or better than Pardew? We don't know that in the event the DM are right ( there is always a first time) who if anyone NC would have in mind to replace him. I think it's fair to say most of us on here know more about football, certainly about Saints and English football than Cortese and I would seriously question any decision to axe Pardew.
  12. Confused me staightaway with the title, I'm not sure now how to spell his name TBH ! Not surprised Strachan ( !?) is doing his "own thing" for next season, reasonable enough.
  13. Yes, it is only the Daily Snail but I'm with MM in thinking a statement from Cortese would not go amiss. Unlike some I would be upset if Pardew left and think it would be a huge mistake. More upheaval and uncertainty when IMO it's clearly not needed is not the way to make progress, have we still not learnt the lessons of the past ? If it ain't broke don't fix it, an oft used phrase I know but in this case a simple and plain truth.
  14. You still here nipper !!!
  15. Yes but not before saying "115/4 wright seems to be trying to play a test match innings, dropping the anchor !" you dim brain !
  16. 191/5 off 20. Wright the slow coach 45* off 27 balls, not good enough !
  17. So not a bad day after some near misses, tomorrow might be a little easier I hope ! Cheers, Chris
  18. England, the team ( along with Hants as well now) who specialise in collapses of all kinds !
