Did you not read the post where the Villa fan said he divided the changing room and was their worst manager ever. The days of players and pulling power are gone, the only pull a player needs now is money, Gerrard and for that matter Rooney or Lampard are the last people we need anywhere near our club.
-
the last thing we need is another manager with more ego than ability
-
exactly, we know he could speak English as he did when he joined Spurs, I suspect he hid behind his interpreter so he could avoid any awkward questions and saying something he might regret, it's just a pity Nathan didn't say he could only speak Welsh and hide behind an interpreter
-
There were a few eyebrows raised in the media, same it was with Nathan, Pochettino then kept his council and produced results, Nathan sent the team backwards results wise and had a meltdown in from of the cameras, the media smell blood and pounce.
-
Do the metrics they use include the ability to manage top players who think they're better than the club they play for and look at us as a stepping stone, compared to players at Luton who probably know their level and are grateful to be playing professional football

You can say a lot of things about the board, I wouldn't say spineless is one of them, they've pretty much faced down the fans and backed the manager, for now anyway. It would have been far easier and more spineless to sack Jones but you can't do that every time the fans don't like a manager. Whether or not we agree with that decision doesn't matter, they've made the decision, hopefully they'll realise the error of their ways and he'll be binned off after the inevitable dross, confusion and loss served up on Saturday, but I'd say it was a pretty ballsy move by the board to keep him on
-
If the players are fighting either him, or amongst themselves there is no way he can stay, he's too divisive, SR know this, the media know this and the fans know this, if it's about saving face they need to just bite the bullet, admit to cocking up, the fans will respect them far more if they admit making a mistake and putting it right, instead of just trying to muddle through. They get a decent manager in this week, then it'll give everyone a lift for the Wolves game.
-
I'm hoping things in the background are happening pretty fast, SR wouldn't be giving us updates every hour as to what they're doing, I'm happy to wait till they get what needs to be done, done, then make an announcement..... then again they could be sitting on their hands

Mike Dean on var ffs

The best thing about Brexit is how it triggers people like you, but you are correct playing a back 5 is like being hamstrung by complying to the laws made up by the EU.

Been up there a few times and it's a complete myth that their fans are loud, they're the same as any other clubs fans, noisy when things are going well, quiet when it's not. What makes it worse is when they came down to us the week before, all day on Sky they had a film crews following them as they travelled the country saying how great they are for doing it, when our fans travel up there, not a mention

Shame the manager lost the game in the first half with the selection and tactics -

Alcarez was good last week, Jones threw him under the bus with that formation -

To be fair, Salisu was brilliant last week against Newcastle, shame the manager changed it -
Not saying it's right but I guess the club wait because they want the selling club to have little choice who they sell the player to, or perhaps the player is more reluctant to commit till they know they have no other options. Trouble is, you can come a cropper. Though if I recall Everton were apparently in for Alcaraz just before we signed him so who knows what's happening. Though you're right from the outside it does seem a mess
-
not sure who this twitter account belongs to I've never heard of them before, but then I don't use Twitter, seems to me like they're just trying to rile the fans with a headline people on here use all the time. That said I guess the perfect fit means getting a player on the cheap, so now Everton have their new money to spend we could end up with nothing as we won't get into a bidding war with them.
-
maybe Jones thought that with a weakened team, goals could be scored and he wanted to protect Bazunu from that
-
Yup, I agree, I just wonder if the club had given Ralph the striker he was telling everyone we were getting if he'd still be here, I'd imagine any motivation he had disappeared the day the transfer window ended and there was still no striker, must be pretty demotivating when you're promised the tools to do your job, then not given them, especially when it's your reputation as a manager on the line.

It was a little tongue in cheek saying they want us relegated, the problem is, they should have taken action last summer to attempt to keep us up, I'm no football expert, but even I could see we needed a striker, the worst thing to happen to us was Che scoring those 2 goals early on, I reckon the club thought he could be the man after that. We now seem to be in a limbo where we want to spend to try and stay up, but not too much in case we go down, meaning the players we need are out of reach. By the way for those saying how great Brighton are, found this article today, which pretty much sums up the premier league https://inews.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league-big-six-southampton-brighton-2101622

What a load of crap, regardless of whether we've heard of the player, or we think he's good enough, the club clearly wanted him but have spent so much time 'negotiating' and trying to play hardball Bournemouth have come in and are looking likely to have got the deal done. Bournemouth are only a couple of places above us, so hardly going for Europa league. The club will try and sell this as he wasn't the player we were after, whilst the 3rd or 4th choice player we inevitably get will be lauded by the club as the one we wanted all along, whilst said player goes on a scoring run like Adam Armstrong. The club is an embarrassment at the moment, they need to stop fannying around and realise we are are not in a strong negotiating position and clubs will want us to pay over the odds for players, if they had done this properly in the summer we wouldn't be where we are now. I still think they don't believe we'll be relegated this season, the lack of urgency around the club is astounding, unless of course they want us relegated.
-
Irrelevant, they will eventually sell their best players and replace them with lesser quality, they might get lucky a couple of times, but eventually their luck will run out and they'll get a dud and won't be able to afford to replace them like the big clubs do when a player doesn't work out. If a player is choosing between Saints and Brighton, the first thing they'll look at is wages, followed by whether they think they can be a success and it's good for their career, right now a player would choose Brighton over us, I really don't think players care about the local bars, they can afford to be chaufered anywhere in the country for nights out
-
Brighton will be the same as most provincial clubs who do well, eventually their players will be bought, then one or two replacements won't quite be as good, they'll start to lose games and fall down the league whilst the rest of their good players get picked off. It happened to us, Leicester and will happen to them. The problem with clubs like us and Brighton is, when we buy a player and it doesn't work out, we're stuck having to try and make it work for the next few years or till we can get rid, we can't do what the bug clubs do and say fuck it, lets just spend another £30m to replace him and stick him in the reserves. This is what leads to the downfall and every club will buy players who don't work out. Fair play to Brighton I say, but let's see where they are in 2 or 3 years time, I guarantee they'll sink back into the pack like we did.
-
Why are we the only team who has to wait weeks for players to get up to speed, Orsic especially, at 30 and just playing in the world Cup, should be able to play now, but no let's keep playing the shite that got us in this mess
-
Don't forget he was refusing to sign a new contract, so selling him for £30m was excellent business, unfortunately we thought Adam Armstrong was the man to replace him and we all know how that's going
-
I'd have Ings back, but he can't be the only striker we buy this window, he's just as likely to be injured after the first game back as not, then we'd be back to Adams and Armstrong again.
