I see the hypocritical NOTW, sister paper to The Sun are now charging to view their pages online. So when we charge them for pictures we're out of order but it's ok for them to charge us to get on their website. Not really got a problem with them charging us for their product but I do have a problem when they take the moral high ground when they have to pay for our product.

Bournemouth chairman "not welcome" directors box (sigh)
Millbrook Saint replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
Exactly, people are too ready to have a go at Cortese or the club. If I walked out of a bar without paying my bar bill I don't think I'd be made very welcome again. The only reason he's paid it now is so he can run up another bill, I wonder how much it would be this time? Added to that the crap he was spouting off during the manager business why the hell would he be welcome, the nob. -
How do we not know that we got permission to speak to Adkins from S****horpe, we then spoke to Adkins, Cortese told him what the job entailed his reposibilities, wages etc. Adkins agreed this was ok, then Cortese said we'll let you know. Adkins told the S****horpe chairman how the interview went, the chairman assumed it was a done deal and put it on the website, having a whinge that compensation hasn't been agreed when we hadn't even offered Adkins the job. All along Cortese may not have made a decision and is being slated for it.

Have to say, I'm not sure how good Martin O'Neil would be, there were stories of player unrest at Aston Villa and after he left wasn't there stories that the players all cheered.
-
So what we're saying is Nicola, who is super secretive about every deal the club do has said to someone 'I'm going to sack Pardew by Christmas, no matter what', this person has then gone to ff and repeated what he was told, knowing full well he'll post it on the internet. I would have thought if Nicola thought this he would keep it to himself rather than talking to some blabber mouth. The first 2 points fair enough, any player would probably know who Papa's agent is, so 2 and 2 put together, likewise any employee would know Nicola's been away. I think someone is using ff for their own agenda knowing full well he likes to stir trouble and will post what he's been told on the internet.

The Budget VAT Up - What do the LIB DEMS say to that
Millbrook Saint replied to John B's topic in The Lounge
I used to work for a company who had a contract with the public sector, they were all admin staff in there so no nurses, fireman etc. Towards the end of the year their manager used to say they hadn't used all their sick days up this year so they'd better take them if they didn't want to lose them. It used to discust me the way they used sick days as extra holidays. I actually heard them discussing this quite openly in the office so this isn't second hand information. -
Has anyone ever traded carbon credits, I have heard that there is money to be made but am unsure if it's worthwhile.
-
Rubbish!! And there was me thinking family tax credits were there to help struggling families. Just because someone earning £20k a year is entitled to it to help put food on the table, doesn't mean someone earning £50k a year is entitled to it to help run the car or finance the nice foreign holiday. Times are hard at the moment we all need to tighten our belts, benefits should be there to help people with hardships not to boost an already decent wage.
-
You never answered my question, do you think people earning £50k a year need family tax credits. By the way I have 3 children, my partner and I both work full time and earn less than £35k a year between us, we don't claim tax credits and we get by ok, I'm sure if we can do it on £35k someone on £50k can manage.

I thought he said for people earning £50k or more, no problem with that, what about you?

Response - 100 reasons why its better to be a Saints Supporter
Millbrook Saint replied to St_Tel49's topic in The Saints
Because we don't use this as a sex guide like them -
Thought he would have won man of the match today if he carried on in the second half like he did in the first. The mongs around me abusing him should take a look at how bad we were once he went off.
-
Bit like crouchie then. The biggest worry for me is when these players play for England their heads get turned by players in teams further up the leagues.

The Itchen corner is definiteley not open, I tried to get my old seat

That was all well and good before idiots like Abromovich and Man Citys arab came along, they have changed the way football is run, we did so well in the past (80's) because it was more of an even playing field and running the club sensibly you could achieve something. Even when we were in the Premiership we started to struggle, other teams had more money than us, as sugar daddys started buying teams and pumping money in, trying to live within your means just means you will gradually decline unless you're a worldwide brand (man u, liverpool etc). As crap as it is the only way of achieving anything in football is by spending money, if you don't jump on the bandwagon you get left behind. It's no coincidence that the most successful teams are the richest.

Red Bull is Austrian I think
-
Surely though if this were to happen Pinnacle could turn round and say the football club was never in administration, nor would it have been if you had let us do the deal. We will now sue you for forcing the club into administration

The media vs Nick Illingsworth & Richard Chorley
Millbrook Saint replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
How bizarre, what do you expect the Echo to do get the phone numbers of every Saints fan, give them a call and quote them, I don't know Nick but he runs a popular Saints forum so he is the obvious choice for them to phone up and get an opinion from, he in no way states this is every Saints fans opinion, though I expect it pretty well is. It seems to me a lot of people on here have an agenda against him. Saying that I don't know him so he may be a complete knob -
To be honest I know how you feel, I have a season ticket and have seen some dross over the last few years. The trouble is, now it's not about supporting the team anymore, now it's about supporting the club, if there is the possibility of wealthy investors on the horizon we need to show them that it is Southampton FC that's worth investing in and not some northern ****hole. How gutted would we all be if they pull out because they don't think the support is there. It is imperative for the future of the club that we all act now. Sod the team they may not be worthy (although I think a decent manager would have improved results) of our support but our club is.
-
I think anyone who was thinking we were going to go into administration were deluding themselves. Lowe is not interested what division we're playing football in as long as he still owns his shares, to that end he will do anything he can to stop us going into administration even if the consequences are getting relegated. It would never have benefited lowe if we went into admin, the club, maybe by getting rid of him. A team in div 3 or 4 would suit lowe more than losing his shares so I don't think he will ever voluntarily put the club into admin, it will have to be forced upon him by the bank or whoever.

Listen to the Swansea fans when Dyer's got the ball, even if he loses it they are cheering. Compare that to when he plays for us, it's like the crowd is just waiting for him to lose the ball so they can shout abuse. I'm sure the players sense this and feel under even more pressure when playing for us. You can hear round the ground all the groans when the ball is lost. I think it's all about expectations, Swansea are an up and coming team so their fans are loving every minute of the team playing. Whereas with us we've had the stuffing knocked out of us so many times the whole club is on a downward spiral, the fans don't beleive or expect anything better and are continually waiting for the next let down.

I don't normally post on here but I have to say this is something that really ****es me off. I know they're paid well and they're professional footballers blah blah blah. The thing is on Tuesday people were around me were shouting abuse at the players loudly and it was obvious they could hear who it was directed at. I work in IT and if someone was to come up to me giving me abuse or shouting down the phone at me, it certainly wouldn't motivate me, I'd think what... **** you I'll take my time, your problem will go to the bottom of the pile. These lads are trying their best, they're at the beginning of their carreers and know they still haven't made it yet, they're not likely to be strutting around tossing it off like old players looking for one last payday. The fact of the matter is they may or may not turn out to be good enough but people shouting abuse at them because they don't play like players they watch on tv isn't helping them or the team.
