Last year Saints fans, me included were proud of our players being called up for England, we actually felt that roy was going to give players not in the top 6 a chance. What we didn't think would happen was he would give them an insight to England then make it clear they wouldn't actually play or feel part of the squad unless they played for one of these clubs. As far as I'm concerned England is a busted flush until players are played because of their form and not because they are good marketing for the fa. The England manager shouldn't even be allowed in st. Mary's as it gives us no benefit as we all know it will follow the same format. Player picked, player 'advised' to move to big club, player agitates for move, player gone. So like me I'm sure some foolishly believed being picked from England was a good thing. Not any more

I take back what I said about Les Reed, although I do think Koeman had more than a little bit of influence

Morgan's head gone- Update: It has been re-attached
Millbrook Saint replied to Chez's topic in The Saints
Do we have any of those then -
That is true, I'm not sure what other options the players had though, also were they all our first choices?. I reckon Pelle and Tadic were down to Koeman, did Taider want to come or was he pushed? Long was desperate to get away, Forster, I didn't hear of any other interest. As I said I'd love to be proved wrong but
-
Koeman's reputation might help secure a signing, the problem is that Reed has to sell the vision first and that is where i reckon it all falls down, he seems like a ditherer, I can imagine he has the charisma of a wet flannel, I fear the problem is he just can't sell the club to any potential players. I'd love to be proved wrong though

My view is that it doesn't really matter if we have targets, unless you're one of the elite clubs you'll be seen as a backup, this being the case said players agent may give positive indications of wanting to join us as they don't want to burn bridges. In the meantime the agent will be hawking his client round other clubs, if then towards the end of the window the player hasn't found a club his agent will come back to the players second, third or fourth choice and the deal may get done with the normal bull that the player always wanted to join blah blah. Long and short of it is, if you want a top player we have to wait until the top teams decide they don't want him, alternatively we go for a lower quality player who knows a top club won't want him
-
So he's not played for what will almost be a season, in that time he's had the best medical care and rehab money can buy, now he's getting better he won't sign a contract knowing full well we'll have to sell him on the cheap to spurs or get nothing for him, nope doesn't owe us a thing. And I agree we should have offered him a new contract ages ago, doesn't change the fact he is being disrepesctful to Saints after what we've done for him, no doubt put up to it by levy and the argie *****
-
Have to say I feel a bit let down by Jay, we've offered him a contract even though he was injured and we had no assurances he would get better and yet he won't sign it, has obviously been tapped by that disrespectful argie *****, but i still think he should have signed and given us another year as he will have been out on full pay for the best part of a season when he does get back

Are people saying that spurs have issued us an ultimatum? if so is this anywhere in the press, the cheek of them if so. How does this work when we've said we're not selling the player. levy calls hello, this is my last offer of £1 for your player you don;t want to sell and even if you did I'm not offering a decent price, take it or leave it. ok thanks we'll leave it sounds like a pretty pointless ultimatum to me -
Personally think the issue is Reed, I reckon he is so far out of his depth with signing players that we'll have trouble signing anyone who has other options. Even gerrard said he was a difficult man to get on with, imagine him trying to sell a vision of the club to an arrogant footballer

Is It Worth Even Being Mildly Successful?
Millbrook Saint replied to washsaint's topic in The Saints
The thing to do is for all the fans of the so called non glamour teams to boycott home games where the top teams are playing. Can't see it really happening though -
still think allowing him to go is a bad move, any agent looking at this will now just tell the player to throw a similar tantrum and we'll end up selling. He should have been made an example of, make him stay till at least next year, if he sulks make him train on his own. I know we're makingh best of a bad situation but this one sale has firmly placed all the power in the players' hands

explain this please

Sky Sources: New 5 Year Contract offered to Jay Rodriguez
Millbrook Saint replied to Colinjb's topic in The Saints
Well my opinion is this, lallana has probably spoken with Jay under instructions from rodgers telling him how great liverpool is, and not to sign any contract extension and they'll come in for him once he makes a recovery. -
Totally agree, I still think he's likely to go, Koeman's had a word with him and he's been told to knuckle down and wait for the club to sort out his move. Just hope it aint the scousers or spurs that he goes to
-
or the scousers heard the comments from Kruegar and saw signing Rickie as a good way of destabling the club as a pre-cursor for the rest of their dealings with us.
-
At least the French are being honest. Do you really think that someone in the England setup, player or coach didn't let it be known to our players that to retain their places they'll need champions league football. Just anpther way of keeping the top players at the top clubs and not allowing anyone else join their pary
-
What a load of crap, the instablity is caused by a lack of leadership, but this down to the fact we have Reed as our 'leader' who may be able to spot a player but across as a bit wet, imagine what the players probably think of him. We need someone with more charisma who people can relate to, who can motivate and sell the club
-
Nice easy excuse saying that eh. 'Look we're selling all our players, the clubs got no ambition. I want out' Yes you f**kwit you're all threatening to go on strike if we don't sell you, what do you expect the club to do???? None of us know what the ambitions of the club are, saying that though, we are short of a figurehead with the ability to sell the club to both internal and external players and get across to the fans the direction of the club, Reed may be good at spotting a player but he seems to me to have the charisma of a wet lettuce and would have trouble selling the club to anyone. Cortese obviously excelled in this. The players wanted to leave, what can we do about that, they have been offered double/treble the wages, how do we know the club wouldn't have added a couple of £15 million players to improve the current squad so we could move on. Do we really think we would have bought no players this summer if none of the players left? pochetino obviously got into the players' heads and they saw him as their leader, he left and the others have all abandoned ship, Shaw and Lallana didn't even have the decency to speak with the new manager so how would they know what the ambition was. I reckon pochetino was part of the problem, he obviously wanted out and that trannsmitted across to the players, then when he left he told the players it was this for his own benefit, the players now either have taken what this man has said as gospel or they see his excuses and start reeling out the same old lines.

Dusan Tadic - DONE DEAL, official and everything
Millbrook Saint replied to S-Clarke's topic in The Saints
I doubt it he's been playing in Holland, who are part of Europe, if he's ok there, then he should be ok here. Or am I wrong? -
Well put, this is exactly how I feel, more of a resignation to the inevitable. Sky and the Premier league have killed football in this country, all they are interested in is keeping the big teams at the top so they can sell the brand round the world, the rest of us may as well just be a reserve league for these teams on their european conquests, using us to try out players to see if they're worth buying. The sad thing in all this is the fact that what makes the league successful is the likes of us, creating atmosphere at games for which helps the premier league sell itself. They know full well that supporters in this country are pretty much diehard supporters and no matter how much we're shat on will still keep turning up to support our team, if we didn't they might have to look at how to change the setup. Would love fans of all the teams outside of these 'elite' clubs to boycott games against them until the premier league do something about the lack of competitiveness in the league, imagine how that would look on the tv around the globe, empty seats and no atmosphere every time one of these clubs play. Trouble is football is so tribal, when one club gets pillaged, like us at the moment, other clubs see it as an opportunity to take advantage and cement their position. Until all clubs fans can stick together and say enough is enough we'll just continue being shat on.
-
Brilliant, maybe they can put all that money in the middle of st Mary's and we can all come and watch it. I don't blame the club in this by the way, they've acted with dignity and have done the best they can in a scrap situation. I blame the fact and premier league and to some extent UEFA for allowing the big clubs to take control and kill any competition or ambition any other club may have.

Good for you, I hope the little ***** fails miserably, and gets the reception, sorry the abuse the big headed **** deserves. Same goes for that cock Shaw. I don't want to see them clapping us in some show of faux respect when they play us. I want them to know exactly how we see them. I'm fed up with being ****ed on and told it's raining.
