Have to say I think it was very harsh, the ref had already given a yellow, maybe he could have given a red, some refs would have, some wouldn't. The issue I have is that var is supposed to be there to correct glaring errors, a yellow in this situation wasn't a glaring error so should have stood. This smacks of Dean looking at it, deciding he would have given a red and telling the ref he should too, the bloke is either incompetent or corrupt, either way he shouldn't be involved in officiating any football matches

I personally think Ralph is thinking about how to stop the opposition, so is using more experienced players, personally I prefer a settled team of your best players, but there's quite a few youngsters in the squad
-
Happy with the results this season so far, so happy to give Ralph the benefit of the doubt, lets see what the score is at the end of the game
-
Any team who has Stephens starting at the back is already starting with a disadvantage, our forward players are going to have to be on top form today to stop this game running away from us. if west ham get an early goal we'll be in trouble

Till they get hit by a cyclist Not sure about your second paragraph, on the face of it, it sounds wrong, how do you work that out, not disagreeing with what you said, just interested to know. Still doesn't change the fact that no one stood up for low paid people who can no longer afford to drive their cars into London because of the congestion charges.
-
I'm all for a tax to fund care, it's long overdue, just hope it actually goes where it's supposed to. The congestion charge is still a tax and it's a tax only the well off can afford, or avoid paying by purchasing nice new electric cars. The other solutions are more expensive than the congestion taxes, you ever caught a train from Southampton to London. I'd be more open to the congestion taxes if the money got spent on research and development into things like hydrogen cars, or on subsidies to help people replace their older cars with electric ones, but no, that helmet running London uses it to put up more cycle lanes so lycra clad twats can speed round London holding up all the traffic and causing accidents and slowing down any traffic who can afford to enter London now.
-
What I find odd is that the same people (mostly labour and their supporters) screaming about how it's unfair on low paid workers, the young etc are absolutely fine with the congestion and pollution charges being expanded further across London and it's outskirts, after all a low paid worker can't afford to go out and buy a brand new electric car to reduce the cost of the charges thrust upon him, once again the low paid taking the hit. This will also likely happen in other cities. This has to be because of one of the following 1. It's a labour mayor so all is good 2. they don't really care about social care, not as much as raising a few quid for the London mayor 3. it was a tory idea so they want to cause as much trouble as possible without offering any solutions 4. all of the above

Completely agree with this, in fact I think other clubs will do a similar thing to this in future, clubs like Chelsea hoover up so much young talent, then fill the first team with ready made players, the young players coming through won't see a way in to the first team, coming to a club like us suits all parties, we get a potential top player before he fulfills his potential, whilst the player gets the chance to actually fulfill that potential by getting much needed game time.

Have a day off mate

so basically vaccine passports then, I see saints are doing this as well. I don't suppose it matters with it being football fans though, always the easy target it seems

They could well be flooding the rumour mill, who knows, could all be made up that Palace have almost met their demands the day after we sell Ings, or maybe Palace have moved because they don't want to lose out after realising we have the money now. Hopefully the powers that be at the club know what they're doing, it's a dangerous game they're playing
-
Well we got 30m for Ings, Blackburn have seemingly achieved with Armstrong what we attempted and failed to do with Ings, stir up a bidding war, in this scenario I think we're going to have to pay close to what they're asking
-
A couple of differences there, firstly Armstrong is in the last year of his contact, like it or not they have to sell and know it, we've been stung that way, crap but what can you do, secondly we haven't spent half the transfer window trying to unsettle a player who clearly isn't for sale with 'briefings' to various ex players and friendly media, followed up by insulting the club you wish to buy the player from, he has a long contract so I'd add a villa clause of an additional £25m on top of the £50m we'd have taken for him if they hadn't been knobs
-
Quite frankly offering us that is an insult and if I was the club I'd tell them that it's £75m or nothing, no addons, cold hard cash, now, who do they think they are, if they want to start acting all billy big bollix by spending half the transfer window trying to unsettle our player, then put your money where your mouth is and pay what we want, instead of going all spurs on us, another joke club
-
I've voted both tory and labour in the past, though labour won't get my vote at the moment, I have no idea what labour are about these days, all I see is starmer kneeling like a little subservient to blm, the incompetent racist Dianne Abbott on the front bench (is she even there anymore who knows), there doesn't seem to be any policies, and all they seem to care about is identity politics. I don't see anything about labour which would help the working man. As much as you hate all things tory, most likely a bigoted view for them being posh who knows, peoples lives, not withstanding the lockdowns are good, people can pay their mortgages, people can feed their kids, people have disposable income, the vaccines have been rolled out brilliantly, people were paid not to work with the furlough scheme, the brexit deal was done (irrelevant what you think about it). On the whole peoples lives are good. We're a diverse population who get along, despite blm and the labour party trying to sow division. As for the screaming about poverty, mostly bollix as far as I'm concerned, better money management would help in most cases and I talk as a child of the 70's who's mother was abandoned by her husband with 3 baby boys, she brought us up alone in the 70s with the stigma of being a single parent, the benefits would have been minimal but never once did we not have food on the table, our clothes were from oxfam but we didn't care, though I never saw my mum go for a night out, that's what being a responsible parent is about. If you want to look at incompetent go back to the 70's and the strikes, I remember the electric going off most nights, schools finishing early, riots on the streets, then later on people were getting their houses repossessed. As for Hancock, do I really care about some bloke pushing it in to someone he works with, not really, do I care that he should have been socially distancing, not really, they were working in the same room together. Labour need to start telling us how they'll make our lives better and stop focusing on hating the tories.
-
pretty sure throughout the season there were reports coming out saying the only sticking point was the length of contract we wanted 2, he wanted more?
-
2 year deal at Leicester? So when Ryan was refusing to sign his new contract as we only offered a 2 year deal he was lying, would have had more respect for the bloke if he'd just said he wanted to explore his options once he became a free agent

As far as I can tell, most of the stories are coming from ex players, are they being briefed by villa to try and unsettle our players, is it just a wish list from these players trying to 'do their bit' for villa, or trying to be relevant, either way villa and the ex players are acting way above their station, providing none of this is true
-
sounds to me like villa have moved on from trying to sign JWP to now trying it on for Romeu. Normally when these sort of things reach the press, talks have gone on behind closed doors with agreements already in place, has this happened with villa, or are they really trying to use the media to unsettle our players, if so I would think it would take a bigger club than Villa to be successful with that tactic. They're coming across as a tin pot club who think they're way bigger than they are, acting way above their station.
-
I really hope you're right about him not going to Villa, it's not the selling of him, I could begrudgingly accept it to a top team, it's the fact it's to fookin Villa, these are our direct rivals, it would be definitely be a statement of intent and not one which we should be looking for. I know it's all coming from their side at the moment, but now reports are coming out that he's not opposed to the move, could be all made up of course but I get the feeling it's not.
-
Just look at the messages above, we're already spending the money, there's being pragmatic and there's bending over and taking one up the wrongun, we seem to be pretty willing to do the latter. It's not fans jobs to balance the books, it's our job to push the club to strive for better
-
This doesn't sit right with me, by selling to Villa we are basically putting ourselves in the newly promoted club bracket, as a club we seem too keen to do this and as fans we seem too willing to let the club get away with it. I know the club is skint but selling to Villa should just not be allowed, what next selling Walker Peters to Norwich? At some point we as fans need to let the club know it isn't acceptable to be selling players to teams we consider direct rivals?
-
well according to Alan Nixon from the sun, we've been ruled out by the £25m price tag for Armstong
-
The Birmingham press are really pushing this Ward Prowse to Villa story, now saying the owners want him in before pre season. Anyone know if there's any truth in this, are the club delaying as long as possible to get season tickets sold? I personally think this would be disastrous for the club, I could understand if he went to a top 6 club, but not Villa, selling our captain to a team we consider to be our rivals would just show potential targets and the fans exactly how we view ourselves in the league

Supporting the players in taking the knee
Millbrook Saint replied to SaintJackoInHurworth's topic in The Saints
Perfectly put, people should be treated equally whether they be black, white, red, yellow, straight, gay, ginger, fat, thin. No one would object to a simple message stating the need for equality. What we don't need is this divisive message from BLM who clearly want division, look at how it's already dividing people where they weren't divided before. You have Ian Wright and Gareth Southgate accusing England fans of being racists because they booed. You have people on here accusing people of being racist just because they disagree with BLM. This country has been heading in the right direction for years with regards to race relations, all this pathetic posturing from footballers kneeling at every game, the ramming down our throats of every white person is racist has set the cause back years and will cause racism, but I guess that's exactly what BLM want
