I agree with both of you TWar and Miserableoldgit, I just feel the pr from the club should be a little more what the fans want to hear and I don't mean spending millions and getting into the champions league, but hoping to keep players a little longer, having ambitions to maybe win a cup and get into Europe. We all know our players will be flogged as soon as the big boys call, it doesn't mean we want that message rammed down our throats, I'm pretty sure the big clubs already know this and don't need a pr offensive from us to let them know. Why do we need to telegraph prospective signings to let them know what we're doing, I'm pretty sure they and their agents can see exactly what we're doing and this would no doubt be discussed during any negotiations. I agree I'd rather have the exciting players coming in to develop and see them for a few years, instead of the journeyman we've had in the past, but fans need something to be excited about, to look forward to, telling the fans our ambition is to produce players for the big clubs is not what I want to hear, although we all know we are doing this.
-
I completely agree with this, we've basically told any team in the league that they're welcome to our players, makes Crooks job even easier selling our players to other teams after every decent game. I know the reality is that if a team comes in with money then we'll sell, but I don't want to hear that from the club, I'd like to hear a little more ambition from them other than being liverpool's academy, why would I waste £700 a year just to know the club aren't interested in winning anything and are more interested in producing players for top clubs. The trouble with saints fans is that we're far too pragmatic and it makes the club able to get away with saying shite like this, can you imagine if the owners of west ham, everton, villa even palace came out with this, their fans would be in uproar, our fans have a small club mentality, just happy to be amongst the big boys and whilst we're happy to be like this the club will just match our ambitions.

This stinks of the bloke down the pub who bet on the wrong horse, then afterwards telling everyone 'yeah I was looking at that horse, I told the guy who won to bet on him, but I bet on this horse instead' Newcastle probably enquired in January and were told to do one, they, or the local journos then let it be known that they've been watching him for years (so it looks like they have a plan) and we were going to sell but it fell through because of the new owners, pretty sure us being sold didn't come out of the blue and no one at the club knew it was happening. They're trying to appease their fans as their blood money didn't attract the money they expected, I always had a soft spot for Newcastle, but the club, as well as their fans are quickly becoming dicks now they have money

Think we all know why that's the case
-
Why, moving his statue would insinuate he was in some way involved, yes things may not have been investigated as they would be now, but he cannot be held accountable for what is in affect failings of the time. The club has already held its hands up and apologised for what happened, we need to stop this ridiculous culture of destroying peoples legacies because they don't live up to todays standards.

That same report in the next paragraph also said the following 'This may have been the first-time questions had been raised about Higgins’ behaviour and it is impossible to say for certain whether the implications of ‘inappropriate’ behaviour, at that time, would have been fully understood by BM1 or anyone else to whom he may have spoken to in the Club.' BM1 being Ted by all accounts, this to me says he may not have even understood the seriousness of what was alleged, obviously now any mention of abuse would be fully investigated, back then this clearly wasn't the case. Personally I don't think he can be blamed for any of this and to tarnish his legacy would be criminal
-
Ridiculous, this can't be allowed to happen
-
That's if the agent is really interested in progressing his clients career, or if he'd prefer to make more money off a move to a bigger club
-
I think there is probably a gentleman's agreement in place to sell him at the end of the season if a top 6/4 club comes in for him, the new contract last season was just to fend off villa and keep him for another season.... or he could love it here and want to stay his whole career and win nothing
-
It seems odd, Southampton have never gets the respect we deserve from people in the media, they seem to see us as a non footballing town who should just be grateful we're anywhere near the premier league, it's the reason none of our players get a real look in for the England team, the comment from crooks above just highlights it, why doesn't he say the same thing about Coady, it's a total lack of respect and why coonts like him in the media shouldn't even have a job
-
Any player in any position, other than left or right back, who we seem to have plenty of, who could immediately step into the team and not be one for the future would be nice, failing that, either a goalkeeper, a centre back, attacking midfielder, striker, left or right midfield, oh
-
really, thought we're ok there, Perraud, then Small, even Walker Peters, though less likely now Tino's out, think the right side is more worrying?
-
There is no way the cheaters will go down now, the big issue for them was getting points off us and Everton over christmas, they've increased the likelihood of this by getting the games postponed until they can get in reinforcements

I have no idea if he's a conspiracy theorist or not, but he's right there has been more on field heart issues since the start of covid, an investigation into what's causing this can't be wrong surely? Personally I think it's more to do with either the supplements they're taking or how hard they train, either way to have an independent investigation come back and say 'seems like the heart issues have all been caused by too much cocaine, or whatever' would go some way in persuading people the vaccines are safe, whilst it keeps happening with no conclusions being provided just means people will draw their own conclusions.
-
Not sure what Boris has to do with it but hey ho. Can you tell me why living my life is selfish, I could get snuffed out next week, I'll make the most of the time I got thanks. Last year we were told the vaccines were a game changer, we all stayed in like good little monkeys, the vaccines come out, we get back to nearly normal, now a new variant appears and it's back to staying in, not mixing, well sorry I've had enough of that, what happens next, a new vaccine, back to normal, then a new variant, this could go on for years, I'd rather spend the time I got enjoying myself, instead of sitting indoors too scared to go out. People are more than welcome to stay in if they like, but I choose not to.
-
Not sure what he said wrong to be honest, whilst I'd disagree about the number of on field heart issues, can't think of too many to be honest. But he is right an investigation would help identify the issue, whether it be vaccine or covid related, or something else. Surely that would be a good thing? I'm fully vaccinated, with my booster due this week, but he's correct, people should be given all the information, the number of deaths from the vaccine, compared to deaths from other vaccines, the demographic of the people who died. They should be open about the number of people who've died from the Omicron variant, not with it, we've all heard the stories of people with terminal cancer who died with covid, with cause of death put as covid, when clearly they were on their last legs. Not only that, what's happened to the scientist from South Africa who first identified the Omicron variant, she said it's far more mild than the others, she doesn't seem to be getting any airtime, whilst the doom mongers are everywhere. This is what's not helping. Transparency is what's needed so people can make their own minds up, this onslaught of fear mongering will only work for so long, before people start refusing to do as they say. I for one will not be staying in, I'll be going to pubs and football, I'll also mix with who I like, I'd rather live a year enjoying myself than 10 being locked down in all but name

What makes me laugh about this, particularly the Newcastle takeover, was the way liverpool kicked off saying it was unfair they were allowed to pump their millions into the club. This was all ok when they were one of the few rich clubs, but now they're not, it's all wrong according to them. liverpool had the chance to stop this at root back when the premier league was formed by ensuring every club was on an equal standing financially, making the chance of winning the league more equal among all teams, but no, they wanted to be selfish, to give themselves an unfair advantage over other teams, to stop other teams progressing by using their financial weight to take other clubs talent. Well, read it and weep victims

what did he say, have to admit I didn't fancy a lecture at half time so switched off, I can guess that it was something along the lines of just being accepted and treated as a normal fan, though I still can't get my head round the fact he then creates all this fanfare about his sexuality, I guarantee most people he sits near wouldn't have even known or cared he was gay till he got up onto the pitch for his performance.
-
Think the issue isn't debt, the issue is the clubs perception to outsiders, the media love to tell the world how massive leeds, newcastler etc are, whereas the perception they give of us is the perennial strugglers, a little club on the south coast, now if you wanted to buy a club who would you buy?
-
Not really sure what you're expecting, most people don't care what you get up to in the bedroom and wouldn't treat you any differently from the next person, wanting and expecting the club to setup specific spaces for different communities to meet and talk is ridiculous, what do you want a space setup for asian people, one for gingers, one for fat people, one for caribbean people, one for africans, or shall we all just have a single community of saints fans regardless of colour or sexual preference, I know what I'd prefer. What you want just causes division and more hatred. If you're so adamant you want your own community set up a group on facebook, you can then invite who you like, but don't expect the club to pander to it.

My monies on the 46th president not calling them out as racists and declaring them guilty before their day in court

Thing Thing is Americans don't need a reason to carry weapons, it's their right in the constitution, we might think it's ridiculous, and I'm pretty sure matey thought he was all billy big bollocks carrying it, but that doesn't mean he broke the law. One of the people who got killed was heard threatening to kill him and others on the night, the prosecution couldn't disprove this, so when he got matey on his own and went to grab his gun, what was he supposed to think? The other matey was attacking him with a skateboard, sounds laughable but if someone attacked me with a skateboard and I fell to the ground I'd be worried for my life The 3rd was pointing a gun at him. Look at these 2 below, at a protest which could turn violent and a high likelihood of conflict and they have high powered rifles, with sniper scopes on top, well within their rights to do so, no laws broken and if anyone attacked them, then more fool them. Do I think that's correct, no, it's bloody ridiculous and thank god we don't allow such things over here. These 2 could easily end up in the same situation as Rittenhouse, wonder what the celebs and twitter would be saying then, I suspect it would be something along the lines of far right scum deserved it https://www.amedpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Armed-Wisconsin-father-daughter-say-theyre-protecting-Rittenhouse-protesters-1024x576.jpg

You're missing the point, some refs would have given a red, some a yellow, var is there if the ref missed something, he missed nothing and gave a yellow, if he'd given a red so be it, what happened afterwards was Dean looked at it, decided he would have given a red and instructed the referee to take a look again, it's not var, or deans job to say I would have given this for that, it's their job to say 'hey that player just gave matey a slap and you were looking the other way, go look' or 'you gave nothing for that challenge, think you should take another look, he took him right out' it's not there so dean can micro ref every decision made by the on pitch officials
-
Not only that, when he was looking at the monitor they played it back frame by frame rather than at normal speed, removing any context of the tackle, you can't tell how hard he hit him like that, all you see is the frame his foot touches him, he could have smashed into him, or just lightly tapped, you can't tell the difference like that, my opinion is the same Dean is either incompetent or biased
