lib dem and a nice outcome.a hung parliament:D
-
good luck to her and a nice looker to.
-
all 3 party's got a shock but the tories not getting a massive mandate with all of major tax avoider ashcrofts money bank rolling them and fleet streets backing and a recession and a unpopular brown. government. labour got more seats then i thought they would and i expected the libs to have more seats. good result and a hung parliment but i see the same old tories are against a fairer election system and elected second chamber ..

good luck duncan

kicking off here. Taxman claims another £17m in charges taking unsecured sum 2 £105m. add Chainrai debt + upfront transfer fees 4 £135mish
-
i agree but you may be one of the independant voters and sadly their is not enough of them. i might have been tempted by the torys but having a tax exile like ashcroft funding them and seeing the tory leadership hob nobing with the same bankers which caused this recession showed me they are just another blairite party.
-
i agree it makes me laugh how many on here have only ever voted for the tory party, you could put a bag of potatoes up foe election has a tory mp and this lot would still vote for it. the 80.s the rich got stinking rich at the expense of the ordinary person and lord ashcroft and his cronies and the same bankers who caused this recession will come out of this smelling of roses with their paybacks it would be nice if the tory party worked for all Britons but i doubt it..

don,t forget the poll tax where a millionaire paid the same as a low paid worker and trickle down economics rubbish and 2 terrible recessions with mass unemployment, massive vat increases ,underfunding of schools etc. it was a great time for the greedy but alot of people suffered under the tories in the 80,s hence cameron trying to appeal to the centre ground and not wanting to be linked to the 80.s torys.

he must have been well hung:D

The Falklands Main article: Falklands War On 2 April 1982, the ruling military junta in Argentina invaded the Falkland Islands and South Georgia, British overseas territories that Argentina claimed.[81] The following day, Thatcher sent a naval task force to recapture the islands and eject the invaders.[81] The conflict escalated from there, evolving into an amphibious and ground combat operation.[81] Argentina surrendered on 14 June and the operation was hailed a great success, notwithstanding the deaths of 255 British servicemen and three Falkland Islanders. 649 Argentinians also died, half of them after the cruiser ARA General Belgrano was torpedoed by HMS Conqueror.[82] Victory in the South Atlantic brought a wave of patriotic enthusiasm and support for the government.[71] Thatcher's personal approval rating rose from 30% to 59%, as measured by Mori, and from 29% to 52%, according to Gallup. Conservative support climbed from 27% to 44%, while Labour's slipped from 34% to 27%.[83]

michael foot has labour leader;)

look at her poll rateing then,it was a disaster before the falklands war,i lived threw that period and the nation came together to rid the argies of our falklands.
-
i would not say maggie was a wet and ken clarke was a good chancellor laying down the foundations for recovery.
-
shw won but it was the falklands war which saved her bacon from a massive defeat at the time.

no some of the 80,s was bad,we had mass unemployment twice under the tories ,public owned utulities sold for a fraction of what they were worth so the tax payers lost out big time, and the selfish society of me me me which we still have. taxcuts for the richest in society and underfunding of schools and hospitals. maggies motto " their is no thing has society" north sea oil wasted on the mass unemployment created by the torys.and overvalud exchange rate and high interest rates of 15 % and vat went up to 15% from 7 % and the hated polltax. the only good thing was the unions were tamed.

Gordon's bank bailout was the brave work of genius
solentstars replied to Wade Garrett's topic in The Lounge
i think history will show that brown and governments around the world did the right thing of saving the banking system and pumping money back into the ecnomomys or we could have had another 1930s depression. my problem with the labour party is that they have in power to long and like the conservatives before them they have run out of ideas. -
Labour candidate: "Brown worst Prime Minister ever"

the guys a nutter,i expect hes getting ready to jump ship and join the torys after the election and damage labour in the process.. -
dune instead of supporting the bnp or tories i suggest if the britsh public wanted us out of the eu,they have a choice and must all go and vote for ukip, they are the only party who said they will leave.
-
sorry i thought you were one of the anti eu dreamers-we have that flexibility now,we have opt outs from the 48 hr week,we are not in the euro so are currency can go up and down. do you believe we will have all the benefits of the eu club by being like norway who are on the outside but who still have to follow eu rules to trade and have no say in the making of the rules.
-
your jokeing right:rolleyes: leaving your biggest market and loseing alot of britsh jobs on a whim and then paying peanut wages to make us ultra competitive in your make believe world. the eu industrys would have encomies of scale which we could not compete with on the outside and they would still make the rules which we would have to adhere to to sell in the eu market .

Norway’s relations with the EU are mainly governed by the Agreement on the European Economic Area (EEA). The EEA Agreement is in force since 1.1.1994 and extends the Single Market legislation, with the exception of Agriculture and Fisheries, from the EU Member States to Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein. Through the EEA Agreement, Norway also participates, albeit with no voting rights, in a number of EU Agencies and programmes, covering i.a. enterprise, environment, education and research programmes. Norway also, along with its EEA/EFTA partners, contributes financially to social and economic cohesion in the EU/EEA. Norway is as integrated in European policy and economy as any non-member State can be, and the close EU-Norway relations generally run smoothly. Norway furthermore participates in the Schengen/Dublin co-operation as well as Europol and Eurojust. Norway is actively seeking association with EU CFSP/ESDP, participates in EU joint actions such as the EU police mission in Bosnia, and has pledged personnel and equipment to the ESDP Rapid Reaction Force and to the EU Nordic battle group so long as the EU actions are undertaken under a UN mandate. Norway is also considered a valuable partner for the EU on the international stage with frequently shared policy priorities, as e.g. in the area of energy and climate change. Despite two failed attempts by referendum to enter the European Community in 1972 and the European Union in 1994, the question of whether or not Norway should once again apply for EU membership has been regularly raised in the past few years in the national Norwegian policy debate. This, however, is not going to have any practical consequences in the immediate future.
