Aye, happy days. Don’t Saints hold the record for fielding the most England captains – past, present and future – in the same team? Six, I think it was. I can’t see that ever happening again.
-
Granted it’s going back a while, but Terry Paine stayed with us for most of his long career and I seem to recall that Mick Channon stayed for about 5 years after his first England call-up. Of course, things were different back in those days.

As we’ve moved up the leagues we’ve replaced inferior players with better players. Now some of our players are replacing us for what they perceive to be better clubs. It’s no great mystery; it happens at every club throughout the land; it’s football. However, IMO, there’s a right way and a wrong way to go about it; Lambert is a prime example of the former; if everything I’m reading about Lallana is correct, he is rapidly turning into a prime example of the latter.

"No Planes Hit The Twin Towers" claims ex-CIA agent
Halo Stickman replied to SO16_Saint's topic in The Lounge
Perhaps UA Flight 93 was heading for the White House as a sick dramatic grand finale? One of the things I struggle to understand about the conspiracists’ take on 9/11 is their seeming obsession with the towers collapsing. Justified or not, surely the ‘war on terror’, increased police powers, invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq etc. were instigated the moments the planes struck their targets, not the moments the towers collapsed? -

Ain’t that always the way? How many times has anyone on here ever said: “Having studied your posts, I have changed my mind and now realise I was wrong about this, and would like to thank you for putting me right.”? Zero, probably. Go on, be a ground zero breaker, pap. -
How will you be voting on Thursday in the Euro and local elections?

Cameron? Yes, the CCTV caught him red handed. Milliband? Yes, she has to post on the UI now. Nick Griffin? Yes, the cops are on their way. Nick Clegg? Yes, the cops are after him too. Farage Hitler? Bloody hell, the cops better bring him in as well. Edit: Sorry, I thought I was on Bletch’s Hilarious Fun With Words thread. -
Cheers Weston. It’s a shame Dawson’s injured, I like his combativeness. Still, Wheater did well against Leicester – I’m guessing we’ll play him and Bates over the coming weeks.
-
The way Vince is batting I wouldn’t be surprised if we lose him to the England team pretty soon – he’d be a big miss. Does anyone know how long Dawson is likely to be out?

Keep up U Jeff – it was bloody sugar ffs! God, I’ve missed this place these past few weeks -
They couldn’t decide between motoring forum and lounge so they did a Clarkson and toe-ended it into here.

I’m pleased to hear that Krueger is interested in our club’s history, FF. When I think about Saints, yes, like everyone else, I wonder about what will happen in the future, but I also recall all the fond memories acquired through supporting our team for nigh on 50 years now.* Striving for future success and appreciating our history and heritage are not mutually exclusive. * I also enjoy reading Hagiology’s books about the even older days, despite Mrs Stickman moaning on and on about the bloody forklift truck parked next to the bookshelf.

Bear, Krueger's on the line, he wants a chat about your Shrek movie

Great stuff, Ralph! Thanks for sharing, FF – all sounds very encouraging

DOORMAN REQUIRED

Described his occupation as ‘bank robber’, didn’t he? Looks like prison didn’t set back his career plans.

U R Frigging Rubbish : Chatterley Todd Dixon (I never heard them referred to in any other way, so I'm assuming that's their first names )

… sometimes when you’re least expecting it. The wife of an ex-work colleague of mine became pregnant a few years after he’d been snipped. Let’s just say this caused a fair degree of angst within the marriage for a while. Turned out his vasectomy had been reversed because he did a lot of deep-sea diving, apparently.
-
Tim makes a very good point here, because, although vasectomies and sterilisations can be reversed, I think that anyone undergoing this procedure has to accept that this can be problematic. Although I was being tongue-in-cheek when I made my previous remark referring to your wife being sterilised, this is actually what happened in our case. After our second child, my wife was adamant that whatever happened, including divorce or the premature death of me or the children, she did not want another child. She also made the point that, whereas she only had a limited biological time left to have children, I would, hopefully, be able to reproduce for the rest of my natural life. Therefore, she decided to be sterilised herself; thankfully, it was a very straightforward procedure … and left me with no pain whatsoever.
-
There’s a lesson there for anyone choosing names for their new-born.
-
Granted, there is that advantage! Although, perhaps not straight away: I haven’t had one myself, but, from what I’ve heard, you won’t want anyone to go anywhere near it for at least a day or three.
-
You could speak very nicely to your wife and suggest that she be sterilized instead.

Careful, don’t give Fitzhugh Fella a reason to start touting his book on this thread!

Removal of Michael Jackson statue caused Fulham relegation
Halo Stickman replied to Saint Rees's topic in The Lounge
I’m guessing Jackson would have blamed it on the boogie. -
Michael: 1. Channon 2. Mills 3. Svensson

Yeah, but didn't the OP mention they had to have played for us?
