Nicola Cortese wants to return to English footie
Greenridge replied to Delmary's topic in The Saints
Tracksuits would fit. #moneysaving -
Les and Ralph are only interested in us regularly playing in the Champions League so as long as we don't get relegated while we are waiting for this then all we can hope for is a little entertainment on that journey. Then we'll just pounce while no one is looking and Champions League winners we are. Bingo.

You don't often hear a player saying he is unhappy mid-season. Not unless you are intentionally engineering your exit.

Fits the recent blueprint. We'll probably sell Targett too and shuffle Cuco across. Awesome.

SWEEPSTAKE ALERT - Puel departure announcement timing - all welcome

Can you imagine the reaction amongst the fan base, considering the groundswell of desire for him to leave, if Les announces he's staying? -
I know this is an extremely unpopular view but personally I think he'd be slightly mental not to take up an offer from one of the Premier Leagues top four or top club abroad. He'd be doubling his money at a minimum and regularly be playing Champions League football against some of the worlds best players. Life at the top is relatively short for a top player and you are only one bad injury away from ending your career. VvD has maybe 7 or 8 seasons ahead of him, that's all. Why would you want to tread water with a club battling for 8th 7th place?

David Wagner at Huddersfield has been getting some very positive reviews. Got a good pedigree and seems to play some attractive football. I guess he's already been mentioned. Don't know his contract position or whether he could be tempted away.

Just ask AR10. -
It was the start of his relationship breakdown with both players and fans alike. Whether this was of his own doing or under instruction from higher authorities maybe we'll never know.
-
Edit Sorry, I can't count.

That's certainly the most glass half-full assessment I've seen of our £10m goalkeeper this year. 'All right', seriously?

The 'review' could well be tomorrow.

I have a good friend who is a fanatical Stoke supporter. Goes to every home and away game regardless. There are some interesting parallels. He says, and has said for several years that, especially under Pulis, that if they win it's just about bearable to watch the dire football they serve up. When they start losing they lose substantial levels of support apart from the minority hardcore like himself. It's an entertainment business and clubs need backsides on seats. Only a few thousand of those will come hell or high water and it's the rest that clubs need to attract. Not just Saints. If folks stop attending the club will act. It's not rocket science.

Saints 0 Man Utd 0 - Buildup, Match and over-reactions Thread

Yes it's amazing what some people will make up to try and make a point. Still, they get caught out in the eventually and end up looking rather silly. -
Saints 0 Man Utd 0 - Buildup, Match and over-reactions Thread

Do either of you ever go to any games? Every time I look at a match thread they are trolled all over by you two. -
You might want to check that again.

Was this a different set of representative fans to the racist anti-French ones you spoke with recently?

From the BBC Sport website the day Phelan was sacked..

You can quote one example from a whole season. Excellent.

6 games over three months the last of which was over six months ago.

I didn't mean we were near relegation but that teams have proven time and time again that a good cup run of a handful of games is not necessarily representative of their overall 'form'. A lot of credence is attached to our EFL cup run, maybe rightly so. Maybe not. A couple of things have frustrated me with Puel. Firstly, his grossly exaggerated rotation system to cope with a total extra of 6 Europa games over a near 3 month period. Secondly, that since we have been free of the onerous demands of Europa and in conjunction with having had extra time to impart his tactics and brand we have seen no real trend in improvement in either performances or results. To me he's just a very average manager who I'm completely ambivalent towards. But I do think we could do better and I think even with the squad we have we should be playing better than we are.
-
You've missed out your number 1 reason from yesterday that the SFC fan base is largely racist against the French. The one you made up and then tried to dig yourself out of.
-
It would be a combination of results plus performance but I can't see anything changing dramatically at this late stage when he's had a whole season to make his mark. Question back to you. I'm intrigued as to your level of vehement support of Claude that is pretty much unique on the forum, bar maybe one other. It seems beyond that of a run-of-the-mill fan to so vocally support a manager who, on the face of it, has produced very average results and performances over the course of the season. I accept the EFL argument although we've seen plenty of poorly performing clubs reach cup finals over the years with several of those also being relegated, or very close to it, the same season.

That ranks right up there with 'the dog ate my homework Sir'
