  1. No sh*t, Sherlock. Who came out with that, Merrington?
  2. We have to sort out this set piece vulnerability before it really costs us.
  3. True but at least we now have options rather than just keep plugging away at something that's not working. He has 4-4-2 up his sleeve.
  4. That'll happen if we're playing 4-5-1 and we're not as fluid as we need to be.
  5. Possession is 58/42 against us according to Saints Player.
  6. Absolutely. If he hasn't figured that stuff out yet he can hardly be viewed as "coachable", so I'm not sure we can expect much improvement in his game. He's probably reached his full potential and if you folks don't think that's good enough, which seems to be the case, he's not going to last long here. The only thing that might keep him here is squad depth but AP has withdrawn him in two straight games and seems to be growing tired of his errors and erratic contributions.
  7. Papa pic looks like he can't believe he's offside yet again, again, again, again. That's a view shared by 21,000 others.
  8. The 21,000 is a hell of a crowd for this division considering that MKD didn't bring very many.
  9. I hope that Mr Liebherr is smart enough, with Cortese's and Pardew's help, to realize that the squad has been rebuilt very well but with a relatively low cash investment. I suspect that things wouldn't look as rosy if the loan players were recalled. We have a chance of getting out of this division this year with a squad that could also be competitive in the Championship. My hope is that, now the (crowd and playing) potential of the Club has been confirmed, the management team will start figuring out how to extend the loans and convert them into permanent signings in January.
  10. I'd like to see him extended to the window, and then - if things keep going the way they are now - we might see the next test of whether Marcus is willing to put his hand in his pocket for another real impact player.
  11. It's obviously not as important as points but it's still significant that only five teams have a better goal difference. Given the parity in this division, that 11-point gap between us and the playoff positions can be closed by Christmas. I certainly don't see six teams running away from the rest of us.
  12. So al‑Faraj certainly did make those comments to the newspaper but "believed the conversation was not for publication." WTF did he think it was for? Fun? Foreplay? Intellectually and financially he seems well-suited for Pompey. The way things stand, on and off the pitch, I'd say they're even better candidates for administration than we were. And we were a much better rescue proposition than they are. After what we've been through I still can't help feeling sorry for the many decent fans who follow Pompey.
  13. 21 and change.
  14. I think part of the reason for 4-5-1 was that even AP still wasn't sure how good his team is. Now he's found out that we can comprehensively outplay a top 3 side with a more aggressive formation I think we'll see it more. At home and away. I particularly like all the options we have for changing things around, and the fact that AP seems to have a good intuition for making those changes. Haven't seen that in ages.
  15. We have a lot of adjustment options and a manager who knows how to use them. I'd forgotten what that felt like.
  16. We're far better than we were but we still need that two-goal lead.
  17. That doesn't sort out the problem, though. They're really balanced but it's not going to be like that every week. Most weeks we'll get someone else's Will Cope!
  18. This fricking cutting out is driving me nuts. Has everyone with Saints Player e-mailed a complaint to the address Plumstead provided? customersupport@premiumtv.co.uk
  19. As a huge believer in width, I'm not underestimating what he's brought to us. I'm voicing frustration at his continual offsides and inability to take a legal throw-in. The hard stuff he does quite well. The simple stuff he screws up.
  20. I hope I haven't been un-PC. Never know these days.
  21. After using two posts to say the same thing, you only have one post left now don't you? Good.
  22. I get the distinct impression that Papa Waigo is far from being the sharpest knife in the drawer.
  23. If, before my lights go out, I were to draw up a list of the 100 people who have given me the most pleasure in life, he would be on it. We haven't had that many genuinely "world class" players in our 123 years of existence but he was most certainly one of them. And his class wasn't just confined to his footballing ability.
  24. That's really good news. I hope they're scared spitless and that they remember forever what that feels like. Perhaps the next bunch of gutless morons will think twice before kicking people in the head while they're on the ground. It blows me away that some people would be happy to look the other way and leave the reputation of our club in the hands of such neanderthal halfwits.
  25. Yes. We do very well for Prem soccer, with the Setanta package anyway. Five or six live games each weekend. But the BBC and other online stuff (except for subscribed Saints TV), which I thought was the point of this thread, is inaccessible.
