  1. Reminds me of when Harry left here to go back to Pompey - the average IQ of both cities increased.
  2. ... or the manic depressives and hope-my-dire-prediction-comes-right pillocks.
  3. I thought this was a joke thread until I read this: Now I know it is.
  4. I'd say he has a good chance in either of the full back positions.
  5. Hat off to all of you.
  6. That's a really good point. One of the most dangerous places on the pitch is around "the D" on the edge of the box. It's amazing how many half-clearances end up there, and every one of them is a half chance - don't control it, just hit it and accept that some will hit the roof of the stand, but some will go in. We have nobody in our midfield who's consistently capable of that or even interested in it - Hammond occasionally, Schneiderlin not (other than a bit of a freak against Forest), Corky not. It's a key strategic zone and I think we waste it.
  7. Perhaps we're just arguing/discussing semantics. I'm not saying Adkins has told them not to shoot - that's not an accurate depiction of what I said. I'm suggesting that someone may be telling them to be very selective about when they shoot. Thus, his idea of "when the time comes" might be different to that of many on here. We're long on build-up and short on goals. We should be scoring more and putting sides away earlier. In my mind we have everything to gain by taking a crack more often. Hopefully it will come with Sharp.
  8. I'm not convinced. As CaM said, Lallana would let fly quite often and now we hardly ever see it. And he's not the only one to become shot-shy. God forbid it happens with Billy Sharp. It's almost as though they've been told not to waste the ball with low-percentage shots - "If the clear opening isn't there, let's double-back and try to create the clear opening." But it's good to see that even Adkins is now saying we don't shoot enough.

I think he's a good player, too, but with an infuriating tendency to go AWOL when we really need him - whether it's on a near-post assignment or for a prolonged passage of play. At times I'd like to slap him. However, I do confess to a near involuntary evacuation when Nigel brought him on in a snowstorm.
  10. You back from the dark side now?
  11. BTW Minty, for me it's not just shots from 25 yards (I agree with much of what you said) but also shots inside the box.
  12. Unless you're going to tell me differently, I didn't think anyone (even statto-nuts) keeps stats on "shot opportunities not taken."
  13. I agree with that and admit to being pleasantly surprised because I thought he'd be MIA as it wasn't his kind of day/pitch.
  14. Valid topic for me because it's a constant theme. I'm still burning about Lallana turning away from goal at P*mpey when we were 1-0 up and had just opened them up like a tin of sardines. Billy Sharp should bring that shooting mentality as long as we don't coach it out of him.
  15. Given that arrogant prat's track record do you seriously think that he watches replays? Why watch when you have nothing to learn?
  16. Happy but not surprised that most of the proper football was played by us. If we had two full backs who could cross a ball we'd have won comfortably. Nine times out of ten, on a pitch like that, this was the "final ball" we were missing.
  17. Yes, we need to score while we're on top (an ongoing problem for us) but the game confirms for me that we're the best team in the division. That's the division's in-form team that we're really dominating - on their on ground. We have skill and inventiveness, and we use the full width of the pitch. All we're really lacking is the final pass, but we've got plenty on the bench and I'd like to see how they deal with Sharp in their box.
  18. Indeed. Perhaps you should just let us have our Winter back. We haven't seen snow for ages and it has been so mild (touching wood and whistling).

Posts like this show what an obnoxious prat you are. You can't seem to participate in any topic without descending into moronic comments. Oh well, I guess you're just doing what you're best equipped to do.
  20. The window is rapidly shrinking for making that call because a lot of the travellers, home and away, are already travelling.
  21. Oh. boy. This could turn into one hell of an end of season decider.
  22. It scares the crap out of me when he takes corners on his opposite wing. I really like the idea of the in-swinger, what with all the sneaky keeper-blocking that's allowed to go on these days. However, it he overhits it or doesn't clear the first man, both of which he seems to do regularly, the ball can come back at us down his flank before we can properly react. He really does need to be more consistent or he should be stripped of the role. Having said that, I feel we're a much better side than Brum and I think we'll do 'em tomorrow.
  23. Ah, Michael Fish in the late-eighties. Much better than the technology-laden crap we see today, and just as accurate.
  24. Any sort of decent winning streak could put a lot of daylight between us and the chasing pack.
  25. Moving Puncheon inside will make us more vulnerable down our right flank, so I'm not sure what Nigel's doing there unless he's pushed someone else wide. Still, we're level and need to kick on for the win.
