  1. We need to play Reeves out left for the next couple of games. None of the wide men played well, one corner from De Ridder does not count as a good performance, although that is better than his usual contribution. Guly looked lively though, but it needs a rethink for Fulham.
  2. From the news Pompey are already in Hartlepool after setting off via coach on Thursday. Two nights in a Hotel for a league one side is pushing the boat out, but for one in Admin ?? Facepalm thingy !
  3. Enjoyed the last 2 minutes, very relaxed as the score had already come up on SKY. Decent performance, good clean sheet. I was only ever worried about free kicks and corners for them. Out of the bottom 3 and 2 weeks to prepare for the next one.
  4. Good performance. One mistake all game and punished. Definite penalty, certain booking for williams which was his second. Ref bottled it. Keep that team and we will pick up more points. They need to learn that if in doubt put it in row Z or even AA
  5. I think Landford Saint may have a point. If Barclays reposess a house from a bankrupt, they do not have to sell it to a bid they regard as too low, no matter how many valuations to potential buyer may have.
  6. Scored the goal that took us to Wembely. Dribbled the ball up Frank Clarke's arse at the start of the 2nd half when a square pass to Austin Hasyes would have put us 2 nil up. He was also very consistent with his crossing, picking out the away section in the Archers road every time.
  7. Puncheon was just looking to score, taking far too many touches and getting caught out, so he had to come off. as bollockings from ther line weren't sinking in. Not sure why RL came of so early, but we weren't winning the ball up front, and he made a difference. Defensive shape looked better until we got stretched in the last 20 minutes. No cover from AL for both goals. Glad there is an international break to get some people back to fitness.
  8. Yoshida looked class, and we looked much better with 2 full backs that can mark. Puncheon responded well to the rocket he must have got up his arse at half time. Ricke needs one morre goal to beat Paul Mersons target ( won't score 5 ) Liked the look of the keeper, although he didn't have much to do. Zambian lad looks a handgull too. As for Gaston, you can see why we signed him. Oozed class and worked his socks off. Fantastic signing.
  9. One thing I did like was when Arsenal broke down the left late on, and crossed towards someone umarked on the far post, Ramirez ran from the half way line, slid in and passed it back to Kelvin to clear. Clyne and Puncheon were caught upfield. I thought it showed a great attitude and a good reaction to a dangerous situation, especially compared to Puncheon, whose reaction to a pass being intercepted was to drop his shoulders and sulk.
  10. Thought the centre backs did ok. KD should have done better with the 2nd, and we either need to board up the near post, or get another keeper. JWP was class and Ramirez looked good but we have to start defending the flanks better. Thought JyRod looked much better up the middle. Gordon or Boruc on a free please.
  11. The skates better stop winging about the reffing conspiracy letter. Beian Howard got away with a straight red momemts before the 2nd goal and there was no conracr for the first sending off. Cheating continues ....
  12. At the moment it is very fine margins. If Fox had headed it out for a corner at City, if Rickie had put his header against Wigan in the same spot as yesterday, and if Fonte had wacked it out for a throw in, we could be mid table now. Some things we are going to have to work with, the Left back problem for a start where someone has to defend wide. I am sure that we wont see subs like that again. I thought at the start that 4 forwards was a bit unbalanced. NA may not have anticipated having to defend a lead for 40 minutes. Maybe Chaplow would have been a better sub for one of the wide positions ? I still hope we can bring in a few free agents ( Grosso and Boruc would be good), but I hope that the results will pick up as we get more used to the new shape. All of the back 5 made mistakes yesterday, but we have few options other than coaching them through it. Skirtel and Reyes have made some howlers lately, so **** happens.
  13. But can they play centre half or left back ??
  14. I know that Michael Owen sat out the transfer window, waiting for someone to ask him to dance, but what other free agemts are there out there, and could they do a job for us ? Upson on a 6 month contract could be worth a punt, maybe a better option than Seabourne. Anyone else tickle your fancy ?
  15. The liverpool story is quoted at €5m for an initial loan, and then 15m nezt season. Given that Bolonga insisted on 8 or 10 Mill up front from Saits, it seems unklikely that the Liverpool deal would allow Bolonga to pay their debts and sign the players they are linked with with just €5m. Would be strange if Bolonga accepted Liverpool's Jam Tomorrow deal.
  16. Having Redknapp as a transfer consultant would be like letting Pete Doherty run your Pharmacy. As for Harry's comment that he is best when he can manage top players, no **** sherlock. Try getting Paul Wotton, Simon Gillett and Wes Thomas to recreate the Tardelli goal in the World Cup, that would be good management.
  17. The keeper that got Swansea promoted, De Vreis is now on the bench at Wolves. Good shot stopper and great distribution. Doesn't seem to fit in at Molyneux so could be worth a go ?
  18. Don't often agree with Birtles, but we needed to move the ball a lot quicker. Definate foul for the 2nd, but he still took too long on the ball. I think there will be a few new faces in this week, as today we looked a bit like Swansea without their wingers. We did hit the post twice though, so it could all have been very different. Nigel needs to show them a video of that Channon goal against Liverpool. One touch training all week for us.
  19. Once we sort out the flanks we will get better. Got caught out a few times, JayRod made a few bad choices first half, and our midfeild needs to work out where to stand at corners ( Nasri andTroare for the last 2 ) Played very well though. If we can add the 2 wingers and some CB's we should do OK.
  20. For those of you interested in new technology, I have managed to track down a picture of the Super Computer that the PST used to come up with it's budget forecasts. It was also leased to Portsmouth City Council, to calculate average spend at homegames.
  21. I think Chinny is streets ahead of most of us in cunning. He will have some plan of how to get all the best out of contract players in without him putting any money in, while the club keeps ticking over until the PP's run out. Probably image rights again. This will equate to having to sell 400 shirts with Brain Howard on the back every week. He has already put them into admin twice, but in such a way that his finger prints were never on the trigger. Another 2 years trying to get back to the big time, with no risk to himself, and another admin if it doesn't come off.
  22. I am fairly certain that Lawrence and Kitson were signed by Lambitt when Chinrai was last in charge of the club, though that doesn't stop Chinrai pointing the finger at them again, rather that those who gave them the contract in the first place. Oh the irony!
  23. I think Morgan could flourisj alongside another Defensive midfield player, to give hom more freedom to move forward and also to stop the opposition wife men cutting inside and shooting. He has pretty much all the technique of Schweinsteiger, he just needs a bit more time to develop. Cork on the other hand is a typical english cm, who runs around a lot, often bewcause he is in the wrong position to start with. For the Norris goal, he was chasing the ball on the half way line, when he should have been 5 yards in front of Fonte. He is just like Henderson of Liverpool but with a worse shot.
  24. As another thread on here has turned into another debate on the merits of Guly, it got me thinking about the players over the years that some fans love to hate. In the 80's, 3 of us moved our Season Tickets from the LoverWest to the Lower East Terrace, as we were fed up with the constant abuse hurled at Paul Rideout. Rideout was harranged for not being as fast as Rod Wallace, not as skillful as Le Tiss and not scoring as many goals as Shearer. I would have liked to have been brave enough to point out that a player with those attributes would be worth more than Van Basten . Instead we moved to somewher more positive. Rideout got his revenge years later at Tranmere. What are other posters memories of the boo boy victims ? I can remember Bally getting some stick ( from me too ), and also Sideways Jim Magilton. Maybe we can come up with a boo boy's eleven ?
  25. I voted, but I found it hard to pick the number of choices for CB, CM and CF. Jageilka, Cahil and Lescott are good. Rio is past it, Terry is to busy trying to look hard and King is a fitness gamble. Are there really no other english centre halfs ? Barry and Parker are good, but Gerrard and Lampard are past it. Up front Rooney and Crouch are the only ones in any kind of form ( SRL and Holt aside). The wingers do offer some options. First Defender, goal kick, goalies hands or occasionally find one of there own players. Looking at that lot, it's ashame Harry didn't get the job, as it would be fun to see the press go for him when they are on the early flight home. Its a good job I'm not that patriotic, as I would be in for a disappointing summer.
