  1. Getting on for 18500 posts now and I can't keep up. Has anything official been published about Monday's hearing? Is it going ahead or not? Or is it just a brief five minutes to confirm suspension of the proceedings?
  2. Alan Pardew is absolutely the right man at the right time for this job. The state we were in last summer, most fans just wanted the security of avoiding a second consecutive drop. To be this good and still in the hunt for the playoffs is a bonus for this season. Stability and continuity are the most important things for this club right now, something we haven't seen in a decade-and-a-half. It would be criminal if our new owner was to allow the boat to start rocking again. For the first time in years, including the cup final season, I'm thoroughly enjoying a winning season with something to play for. I'm sure others feel the same and that's why we're getting 20k+ every game. If we don't make the playoffs this season - and I don't expect it - there's no need to panic. There really shouldn't be a need to spend big next season. This team - Pardew's team - has only been complete for a matter of weeks. Think how good they can after playing together for another year. Patience.

  4. Just watched it myself. He did look a bit glum, but I got the impression it was something else, not the job. Seemed to be going through the motions. Smiled a bit though, when the interviewer mentioned the fans singing his name. Thanking the fans at the end was the genuine bit.
  5. 2-0 Saints impressive

  7. Sounds like Marcus has been calling a few friends and getting those Swiss bank accounts frozen... http://uk.reuters.com/news/video?videoId=48827549
  8. Thought I'd re-visit the start of this thread, all those months ago: http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showpost.php?p=366787&postcount=2 Alps, you got it ****ing wrong again. It'll be TWO years.
  9. And that's why they're bust. Saggy: "Peter, Seen this guy - Utaka - got to be a snip at £7m" Storytime: " Nice one 'Arry. But we can only afford £80k a week - including bonuses"
  10. tcwtb?
  11. Well if we're quoting Dickens: "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.." - Tale of Two Cities (winky eye thingy)
  12. No real surprises there, the guy's totally false. Back to Gordon: whatever your political persuasion, it can't be good to have someone so nervous, stressed and impulsive apparently in charge of the country. But then I guess that's the job of the Civil Service anyway...
  13. Great post! Glad you got to see the two cup games and experience the electric atmosphere at a full St Marys. Those kind of memories will stay with you forever.

  16. Grow some extra toes and fingers? Webbed, of course...
  17. Should always play the best available side. If Rickie's fit and in form, he should play.
  18. Tall Storrie quotes: ESPN 18-Feb-2010 Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie told Soccernet: "Of course we don't want to sell any more players, but we have no choice. Of course Avram Grant still believes he can keep us up, so he doesn't want to sell any more players. But if it's a question of survival or selling, there clearly is no choice. "We have some immediate cash flow issues to resolve, and we are hoping for a positive reaction from the Premier League to our request to open up the window for us." ESPN 20-Feb-2010 He also claimed that he was abused by the fans because they believed he wanted to sell more Portsmouth players from an already threadbare squad outside of the transfer window, a fund-raising idea mooted earlier this week but turned down by the Premier League on Saturday. Storrie said that the idea had originally originated from the Premier League: "That was their suggestion, the idea came from them in the first place. I can understand objections from other clubs but I didn't even know such a rule existed." Lies, mis-quotes or dementia?
  19. He may not be MLT, but the man's classy enough to wear the number 7. Another great scouser who's become a Saint. Happy Birthday Ricky.
  20. Good post.
  21. I used to think the same until recently. There are a lot of decent football fans out there who were unfortunate enough to have picked P*rtsm*uth to support, for one reason or another. As many of you will recognise, once bitten, the support of a football club stays with you for life. These guys will always appreciate football and would support a future 'AFC' type club in the future, no matter what league they started in. Sure they'll hurt if/when the club gets wound up, but they'll always have their good (and bad) memories to cherish. Unfortunately, their club is also supported by a disproportionately large number of the total and utter ******s that usually form only a small minority of supporters of most other football clubs in the land. They have also been saddled with corrupt and incompetent corporate leadership since the 70's. The recent shenanigans have gone totally beyond the pale and shown what a thoroughly contemptible organisation they now are. So for me now, oblivion for the current PCFC (Dis)organisation and razing of their crappy shed can't come soon enough.

    Trouble?

All handbags really. OB, the horses and dogs had it all sewn up tight. Couple of the Yoof had a swing at W******d's crappy old van as it left.
  24. Tim, I actually agree with you in part. Late goals have been a problem for years, not just since September. However, I disagree that AP isn't doing anything about it. The players he's brought in January are/will improve this, and with Puncheon has added a bit more pace. The problem today was they were cup-tied. The main reason it happened today was (swallows hard!) that Poopey's players were by and large more skilful, pacy and slick in their passing moves. The only way the Saints players could compete today (and they DID compete) was to press them at every opportunity, get in their faces and hustle them. That's a high energy game that very nearly paid off. I thought before the game that if we weren't winning by 75 minutes we'd lose it in the last 15. Lallana was absolutely knackered at 70 minutes. I still think it was worth 'going for it' in the last ten minutes. The team had done us proud by then and I don't think shutting up shop when you're losing in a cup game - even against that lot - makes any sense. I think they'll all learn a bit of a lesson today, including Pardew, but there ain't much wrong, so chill a bit. Oh, and Utaka(?) was about five yards offside - twice.
