I've not really picked that up? There was the recents incidents with Chelsea, supporters not letting that bloke on a train..and the Sterling incident. But if i'm honest I've not picked up the 'English football is a racist hellhole' vibe. All the media attention i've seen has been the well publicised stuff about Eastern Europe and Italian football.
-
To be fair I've just read the article again and Danny Rose doesn't appear to mention it occurs in the Premier league. He seems to be talking about his experiences playing for England, and lambasting the action (or lack of) taken by FIFA.
-
If i'm honest what Danny Rose did or didn't mean doesn't really bother me. What I do find a bit sad is whenever a post like this appears you can almost play "It's not racist' Bingo. The same old cack is wheeled out 'Oooh what's the difference between racism & being called a ginger ****?' 'Ooh it happens in all football ground's' "Ooh my grandad was Scottish & he got called Jock it never bothered him' 'ooh what about when black people use the N word' "ooh black players bring it on themselves, chucking money about' ...and it goes on. You start thinking well this forum probably represents a decent cross section of the voting public (obviously I do know peoples skin colour) no wonder we just go round and round in circles.
-
'It's obviously racist but insults are part of football' I find that quite a troubling sentence..but I am a snowflake. I am slightly stunned by some of the views offered above. I don't perceive myself asa racist but some of the above posts suggest that if Danny Rose is playing at St Marys then I can make monkey chants at him & call him a black bastard and still keep my 'Not racist status' as it's different to going up to someone in the street and being racist....because it's just an insult and all part of football
-
Trouble is this is what you've posted 'Players are generally abused because they play for the opposition, not because of their race..even if it is a racist insult' I'm being sincere when I say I don't knowhow a player can be abused by a racist insult...yet it isn't racist? . You seem to be able to differentiate between someone having racists insults slung at them..yet it not being racist. But I fear that some people might link the shouting of racist insults to people actually being racist.
-
I'm assuming you're an adult. If you genuinely don't understand the difference between racism and calling out someone for being ginger then it's impossible to have a debate. (Don't get me wrong i'm not in favour of the bashing of gingers either) But seriously grab a few history books

Fair play Pompey. Cracking game.
-
ha ha, Pompey take lead. they must be gutted as they've already stated how meaningless this competition is. Can't wait to get into work tomorrow and take the ****! This weekend keeps getting better!
-
Yeah, I didn't really explain sorry. i was thinking of the time some of our fans had 'Scum Army' flags and wore Ched Evans facemasks outside a pub in Southampton I think. It was a story in the Mirror. In fact if you google 'Ched Evans Mask Scum Army' you can find the whole story & pictures from 2015. That's the embarrasing bit.
-
Yes, that's a decent article, which explains the point I made on the first page, that many Tottenham fans have adopted the term 'Yids' to try and gain control of what is considered a slur and render it impotent. A minority of Saints 'fans' have attempted to do something similar by adopting the label 'scummer' and forming the slightly comical 'Scum Army'. Much to everyones embarresment.

As a wise man once said...'I've met the man on the street..he's a ****'
-
I've read this three times. And this is one of the worst arguments I've ever seen..It's actually difficult to know where to start with this one. Sadly this bloke is probably the 'man in the street'
-
It doesn't really open up a 'new can of worms'. It's common knowledge that Spurs fans have called themselves this for god knows over 30 years? Its a well worn argument about reclaiming the term and taking the power out of it, which I don't actually agree with (I suppose a bit like a black rapper using the 'N' word, or our infamous 'Scum' army..ok that's not racist but the same 'depowering argument applies' ...but lets not use it as a smoke-screen for the behaviour of a tiny minority of Saint's fans, who are probably so confused they don't even know what they are chanting about..they've just heard someone else do it,

Is the Ralphball experiment over?
-
Massive wake up call for some. Ralph-Ball simply not working.
-
No come to think of it you are probably right.
-
This will almost certainly lead to a points penalty, so happy days for us. Hopefully we are now virtually safe. Phew!
-
Probably justice done. Fair result
-
As a fan, when you're chanting a players name from the stand, you have this illusion that the players care as much as you do. But that video is the reality I suppose. Tadic is a bit tired..the teams not as good as it used to be. He's off. He's not that bothered. Not a criticism of him at all..just a realistic insight into the mentality of most premiership footballers.

Oh dear. I believe the word 'Whooooosh' is appropriate at this point!

Shane Long's last 4 league goals have come under 4 different managers? Can that be right?
