  1. Oh go on, please keep responding - every time you make a comment the more your true nature becomes apparent. Its very funny.
  2. In March 2002 when Milly Dowler dissappeared and the phone was hacked, not only was Wade editor, but Andy Coulson was Deputy Editor. Of course, they both knew nothing about it...
  3. Erm, what are people supposed to save with? Most of the people I know don't have a pot to **** in, let alone spare money to chuck about. And no, I don't smoke, don't own a house and only go out about once a month. My salary goes on rent, travel and food and thats about it. Oh, and before you ask I'm a research scientist with a public sector pension and I'm fu.ckin keeping it.
  4. This is why we need a complete overhaul of our democratic system. Right now we have three parties that all basically say and want the same thing, will make the same mistakes and continue to fu.ck over the same great majority of the population. Spivs. Until we have a system whereby our MPs are truly accountable - ie. where individual votes count, and at a local and not just national level, this country won't change - too many vested interests with their hands near the levers of power - FFS, the three most powerful people in the country went to the same hyper-expensive private school that 99.999% of us would never be allowed near. For a free, supposedly democratic country, that is embaressing.
  5. I think in this case its best to be sympathetic rather than offer a confusing intellectual choice... I fear he may not have developed beyond 'rich=good' vs 'poor=bad'.
  6. Or were sponging immigrant workshy teacher dogs stealing our *****es.
  7. I'm afraid I can't be bothered to read through all this thread. However, IMHO you lose the argument simply for quoting Hazel Blears. This can never be justified.
  8. Actually I 'work' from about 6am until 11pm most days and that includes weekends. Like most people with professional positions I don't stop working just because I'm not in the lab or the office. Work is an obsession that I don't really withdraw from until my two weeks in the sun. But thats not really the point is it - you clearly have no understanding/empathy with people different to yourself. In case you hadn't noticed, not everyone is capable of working the long hours you enjoy. Does that mean they deserve less? Are they lesser humans? As for your snide little quip about bankers bonuses... I certainly do think its disgusting that people are paid huge bonuses while working in a socialised industry. The big joke is that you probably think bankers are working at the sharp end of capitalism, whereas actually they're nothing but parasitic little communists - the state picks up the tab. When banks are allowed to fail, I'll start to respect them again.
  9. I agree that a persons success, or otherwise, in education can't be described by a single letter. I don't agree that the point of exams is to identify the elite/cream. IMHO, exams have a variety of aims. One might indeed be to help spot talent. Another is to measure what people know - the extent to which they've been educated. Mostly, its about being able to discriminate between members of a group - spotting who's good/bad at what. Grade inflation is only a problem if it prevents that from happening. In my experience this is a red-herring. The big issue I experience when trying to spot who is a talented student and who is not, is that exams tend to identify only who is good at exams - and its always been like this. The best measure of a students ability is achieved by inteview of by using a reference from a former teacher/tutor. The latter requires that teacher to have a close relationship with the pupil. That requires more teachers/smaller classes. This is what Gove should be focussed on. Exams are a distraction that panders to a media driven preconception about changes that certainly have happened to exams. Are they easier? In some respects - however, students undoubtedly have to know more now. It's just that they are now under less pressure to be able to synthesize information to create a new answer. I agree this a shame and needs to be reversed.
  10. Do you really think that how hard people work is measured by how long they do it for? Or that how much people deserve to get paid is related to how many hours they work? I find it difficult to believe you really are as thick as you portray yourself? I can only conclude you're on a wind up. Well done.
  11. Does this mean that Mr Gove is pledging to make exam results worse then? I look forward to the Conservative Party celebrating more children failing at school.
  12. I saw it too and am really glad that I did. I echo what's already been said and agree that more people should see the programme. The take home message for me was that, to our leaders, life is worth very little. Sri-lankan cricket team is playing here now isn't it? Perfect opportunity to make a point.... opportunity ignored. Probably the most depressing thing I've ever seen on telly - genuinely shocking.
  13. Dune starts yet another pointless thread. Where is Hypo to complain when the forum needs him most? All is lost.
  14. Rooney is a top player?
  15. The forum's loss.
  16. Climb the strategic staircase to success. Put a pound in the cappuccino machine and see if it comes out frothy. Gather in the low-hanging fruit. (I'm now off to be sick, have a dump and finally a cleansing shower).
  17. Im glad we have the spokeman for all UK journalists here on the Saintsweb forum. Aren't we lucky.
  18. Really not looking to pick a fight, but 4 points out of the first three games was a pretty shocking start considering how we ended the previous season. I think most fans were thinking a minimum of 7 from 9 ? I think next season, a reasonable minimum expectation from the first three games would be 4 points.
  19. Actually this would be great... actually quite exciting if true. Imagine Zenden linking with Lallalana and Oxo!!!! Nice.
  20. Kind of agree - although I think that there have been a few examples recently of players bought from lower leagues who, given time, have proven surprisingly successful in higher divisions. I wasn't sure about Simeon Jackson in the Championship, or DJ Campbell (!) and Jermains Beckford in the Prem. All have surprised and done a job. Question is, would our fans give a striker not proven at Championship level time? Hmmm.
  21. Absolutely right. Not only was there some absolute dogsh.ite signed when he was at Liverpool, but he's also committed the cardinal sin of having a big mouth in his first interview (if this is true). Cortese won't (and shouldn't) appreciate the AOC comments and general 'openess' of the interview. Completely at odds with how the club is run these days. Big Meh!
