Commodious! My point is that things are not as simple as the images suggest. Not surprisingly the reasons why we fu.cked-up financially and why we are likely to remain fu.cked are more complex than just 'Labour are rubbish'. No need for a thesis, just more honesty. It's getting very boring saying all the countrys financial troubles are down to Labour govt. when evidence shows this not to be the case. There are lots of different reasons why we're fu.cked - and maybe the Tories support for Labours financial policies up till 2007 is one of them.

Have you put it in pictures to keep it nice and simple for you?

Meh, Lounge.

Surprised that a UN resolution was achieved and kudos to Dave if he managed to push it through. Hope it works and that it achieves its stated aim of protecting civilians. Not too comfortable with the idea of killing a few hundred conscripts who in all likelihood didn't have much choice about what they were doing either... BUT, better them than random punters killed because of tribal loyalty/living in the wrong city/peacefully demo-ing about democracy. Best hope is that Gaddafi is removed quickly by internal forces. Sadly I think most likely is long, protracted civil-mess requiring UN involvment for years to come. Is this better than leaving Gaddafi in place? Probably. Doesn't really feel like a great cause for celebration though - and it doesn't make DC 'not a bellend'. Maybe it makes him 'not a bellend on this occasion'. I suspect however that there is still plenty of time for him/Hague but probs Liam Fox to drag humiliating co.ck-up from the jaws of victory. Lets see.

The companys growing - headline profit means very little.

(Nice work - 'Tips Hat'). Actually I find the bit where she reminds us that Sunday comes after Saturday incredibly moving. As I'd imagine a colonic irrigation to be, in fact.

Its what evil looks and sounds like. And like Herpes, incredibly catchy.

Not that anyone should care but I'm glad Aidy Boothroyd has been sacked because I think he's a jumped up little pri.ck who gets teams playing anti-football. While I accept that 'Route-1 plus muscle/cheating/organisation' can be effective, its hardly rocket science. He always acted like he invented it - Graham Taylor was doing it years ago and Im sure others before him. Small rant over.

As others have said, a current player dying is a different situation to an ex-player so lets park that one straight away. Regarding your other points: i) You think that different players lives deserve to be celebrated differently. Who decides? How do you decide? If its just 'what you reckon' then it might as well be 'what Cortese reckons' or does his opinion not count? He only persuaded someone to buy the club and now works/runs the club? Oh yeah I forgot he's a foreign newcomer so he's not as big a fan as some of the other no-mark hangovers from a bygone era (where, IIRC, we ended up failing miserably and being relegated). ii) Why don't we treat/pay everyone the same? Because how much we pay someone has fu.ck all to do with how much respect you give someone after they die. iii) Dean Richards is a player most fans can remember. Yep, including me, saw him play many times - but I don't feel the need to pretend to be a super-mourner. So that makes us different. My opinion is that agreeing to remember former Saints on a single day accepts that people will feel differently about different players and provides a mechanism for those differences in feelings to be accommodated. That way you needn't get into weird arguments about who was more important than who and people can concentrate on the football.

Celebrities and other 'famous' people you think are total bellends.

The old Queen Mum - Gawd Bless 'er -
Heaven, Hell or Limbo? Have you met Elvis yet? How about the Queen Mum - Gawd bless 'er!

Thanks for that considered, but I think flawed, response. Craigs contribution to Saints might have been smaller, but that doesn't mean his life should be celebrated less. Do you have a sliding scale of recognition for Saints players according to who you respect the most? What would you recommend as a tribute should the following die in consecutive weeks - Lawrie Mac, Le Tiss, CMFG, Dodd, Channon, Shilts? Do we have a minute for each or vary the length according your nominated respect points? Maybe we should have a vote, cause that would be really dignified! All Saints Day recognises that each individual makes a contributions, that might appear to be different in scale, but are actually equally valuable. In case you hadn't noticed, football is a team game - this approach compliments that reality. Maybe if we had a bit less identification of heroes/villains and supported the entire team/club, the place would be a bit happier - and more successful. As for emotional incontinentence - glad you agree with me. It would have been hugely embarressing to re-name the stadium or produce a statue at this time. Maybe in the fullness of time when the true value of the contribution can be measured? Bottom line is I support Saints - I'm not a member of the Matt Le Tiss fan club, but I am a fan of Matt le Tiss because of his contribution to the Saints. Its not that complicated really.

Provocative but accurate. I am so bored with people unable to see beyond the end of thier own noses. If a fan can't be happy with a 3-0 win then may I suggest the problem lies with them, not the club.
-
All Saints Day is sufficient and in my view is a thoughtful approach to this issue. Each (Saints) life should be equally respected and remembered and this kind of day makes this possible. I like that fact that the Club are comfortable not to join the trend in being emotionally incontinent like so many others we see today.

'Man who is not Bob Crow in personal anger issue' shock - in 'highlighted on Saints forum by Tory sympathiser' shock. I'm shocked.

Once again Burchill states the blindingly obvious - there are a lot of tw.ats out there. I thought it was pretty clear that condemning Israels human rights abuses was just that, and not excusing the obvious failings of parts of the Palestinian culture and state. If she's really still bothered about "fighting the powerful", why isn't she writing about that? I think the article was probably written out of a misguided attempt to try and remain relevant rather than any sincere feeling.

Pathetic.

The difference between Southampton and Brighton...
saintfully replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
What the stadium gives Brighton is potential, that's all. Let's see how you compete once Poyet goes (which he will) and results start to go against you. FWIW, I think the city/catchment is big enough and attractive enough to support a see-saw team like WBA or Norwich/Ipswich. Any talk of a 'fun-size Barcelona' however is as embaressing as a monkey-petting zoo. -

Thanks for that - I've just spilt coffee all over myself laughing. I live near Brighton and drive past the new stadium regularly. If you think that its in the top 2 in the country its because you've spent the last few years slumming it at the Withdean. Your problem= 22,000 capacity. -
Good player, good attitude, unfussy but effective - and occassionally scored a belter. I agree with the comparisons with Morgan.

I love it. In particular the desperation of Jo Jo.

Putting the local government job "cuts" into perspective
saintfully replied to trousers's topic in The Lounge
The total private wealth of UK citizens that are worth over a million is 4000 billion sterling. A 20% tax on just those people would raise 800 billion. This equals our entire national debt. Its not just about bankers, its about inherited wealth and land. HTH. -

The vast majority of council staff have wages well below the national average and well established contracts so cutting wages might be more difficult than you imagine. But thats not really my point - costs, as I'm sure you are aware, are much more than just wages. How much has petrol gone up since 2008 for example? How much has food gone up? You state that your costs and staffing have decreased since 2008 but you still manage to get by - but 'getting by' isn't really good enough when your talking about Meals-on-Wheels, for example. Also, Im glad that you're getting by okay, but how do you know? Has your profit increased? What about your customer satisfaction? I've no idea what your business is, but since by Dunes standards you were running it inefficiently in 2008 (which is a paradox because I understood that private business couldn't run inefficiently?), you must have a poor day-to-day measure of its success/failure. Finally - it might suit your world view to think that its a political game but that doesn't make it true. Please stop reading the Mail and being so divisive - 'we're all in this together' remember. -

There is such a thing as inflation y'know. If you reduce income to 2008 levels, dosn't mean that your costs are at 2008 levels. Happy to help. -
Ahem, sorry about that.
