Saints' kits through history (+other striped teams)
saintfully replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
The classic 1977-78 for me. Long hair compulsory. -
Perhaps the fact that intelligent posters are arguing who'd make the better PM, Boris or Brand, helps explain why the politics and leadership of this country is sometimes such an embarrassment.
-
Thanks for that - worth watching for the ending alone

41, scientist, live in Hassocks near Brighton, born on Isle of Wight. Fondly remember ferry journeys on Red Funnel from Cowes to go and watch the match. First game was at the Dell against Ipswich, 1981. 1-3 down at half-time. 4-3 win at full-time. Brace from Armstong and goals from Moran and Keegan. Who could not be a lifelong fan after that!

Global warming really is happening... (well, duh!)

Two bites already Trousers, not bad. In other news, Boris can't tie his own shoe-laces. -
Logic. I guess Labour believe that if they had been in power, the economy would have been stronger - enabling some cuts to be reversed. Indeed, if George Osbournes/the OBR's forecasts had been correct, the economy would have been stronger. Now that it turns out the economy isn't stronger, but actually much weaker, it would be weird to maintain the same position wouldn't it?? (I'm not a Labour supporter btw, IMHO they're all fu.ckin useless).
-
Yawn. The global economy was on the brink of non-repair in 2008 (if that is the time you're referring to - your sentence actually refers to the time when Labour took over, which was 1997?). I don't think the dead grey hand of Gordon Brown had so much power and influence he could bring down all the econmies of the world... Is your argument that Cam and co would have acted differently? Zero evidence for that. In fact, more to suggest that they would have been even looser with the regulation. Finally, nowhere have I suggested that his speech will make me want to vote for him. Just that it was mis-represented. #whatthefr.igruonaboutyouone-eyedToryweirdo?
-
Actually he will say that the economy is now so fuc.ked he is unable to reverse them - which is not quite the same thing is it.
-
That would be you Trousers
-
Time to emerge from your closet then - standing proud and brandishing your red credentials!!! (innuendo intended)
-
Yeeehah - whats your annual GDP guess for 2014 Trousers? 3%, 4%???

Should I accept Glasgow's friend request? Poll please.
saintfully replied to CB Saint's topic in The Muppet Show
I just rejected Glasgie's advances. Now I feel like a lonely fool who's just punched his own face in the mirror. And I'm not even orange. -
I think that just means you were being remarkably boring.

Pleased to see such confidence in UK growth prospects from Trousers et al. Hope chickens arent being counted too early... weve seen these sort of projections before havent we?

Indeed, its like stepping in a dog turd and then refusing to look where you're walking.

Despite incompetent government I think a corner has been turned. Hope they don't blow it with a disasterous mini housing and consumer boom - instead, must maintain (and actually make effective) the focus on rebalancing economy away from City and services and salvaging/improving whats left of our infrastructure. Lets see what happens eh...

Cor blimey, its back.... 1. ‘methinks’, ‘doth’ ? Where do you think you are, the Oxford Uni debating chamber? This is a footy forum! 2. Poor attempt at misrepresenting a genuine question. 3. Still not really any of your business though is it. Clearly it’s up to Lord D – and I’m sure it’s within his ample wit and capability to anonymise his response. If you wouldn’t be clever enough to manage that, it’s hardly his problem. 4. I’ll admit that I assumed from your boorish (and boring) approach that you read The Express (at first I’d thought the Mail but quickly realised that would have been beyond you). So, yes, I’m surprised to hear you read The Indy – but not that you don’t seem able to accurately comprehend anything that doesn’t fit your prejudice. Perhaps The Express is the paper for you after all, or maybe even The Star? 5. If you think my response was hysterical offence, then again I suggest you have trouble with basic comprehension. I refer you to my earlier observation – there is no sting in your tail. 6. Rather than ‘cool and sophisticated’, perhaps you should try for ‘overambitious and limp’. Good luck – but I don’t think you’ll need it!! ‘Swat’ Buzz-off.
-
You again! Crumbs it’s like being attacked by an angry aging hoverfly – it looks like it might sting you, but hasn’t got any bite. Firstly, ‘naïveté’ - in English that’s written as naivety and as much I’m sure you’d like using the French spelling to suggest the coolness and sophistication of your avatar, in fact it indicates that never has the association been more misplaced. Secondly, the observation that it is naïve to ask Lord D for his wife’s examples of waste etc is I would say rather naïve in itself. It says to me that you believe that in every department in all hospitals there is eye-popping waste, poor care and laziness visible for all staff to see – and yet do nothing about. I think you’ve been reading too many crap papers. Thirdly, thanks for the advice. But, assuming that wasn’t a really lame attempt at sarcasm, I already knew about the PM feature. Rather, I was hoping Lord D would bring his wife’s experiences to the table as a discussion point. It’s really useful to have some first-hand evidence. I’ve no doubt there is a lot of waste and examples of poor nursing and laziness – I simply wanted to know some examples to consider whether there is an explanation beyond the fact that the NHS is a large public institution. There may not be – but I’d like an example to talk about from someone (second-hand) who actually works in a hospital. What a proper Charlie!

I'm sorry, I had no idea you were Lord D, I've always found him to be an intelligent poster (albiet one I disagree with). Why not use the same user-name rather than ponce about with two? Of course, if you're not Lord D then wtf are you on about? I was asking about his Missus experiences - genuinely curious. As you correctly point out, you'd have to be an idiot not to have heard of mid-staffs and an idiot not to have thought everyone else writing on this thread would have too. Do try and keep up old man.
-
Wowzers, what hospital Lord D, what does she do on the front line and what are some examples of waste, poor nursing and lazy staff?
-
I look forward to you setting up and running your own personal emergency services. Or, you could rely on private hospitals, paramedics, police, army etc. ? In fact, maybe its just true that there are just some things the market isn't very good at supplying. These tend to be the things that we all need and use and that society (there, I said it) can't do without to function. Telecoms - yeah fine, privatise (although I object to the monoploy BT has on line-rental), but water? Energy (heating)? I accept inefficiencies in order to guarantee supply to all. Its not as though the private sector is immune from wastage is it.... that remains a facile argument.
