Hopefully Spors finds the right level of support. Perhaps all agree an experienced assistant would be beneficial. Surely Tom Cleverley wasn’t at the PL2 playoff final as he’s joining as assistant? Interesting comment on Rohl here: Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl was previously linked with the Saints job, but the compensation package to move to a club within the same division was thought to be too expensive. i think he also wants a top league job as quoted elsewhere but interesting if we did chose Still due to compensation values.

Impressive to better last seasons point tally with a -£76m spend which included losing GK and both main CBs. The entire spine of the team sold in January actually.

Pretty sure it was being player of the tournament in the Toulon tournament that brought Mara to our attention. Had good potential on Football Manager as MLG will confirm but he’s never performed at club level to make a league look easy. ‘His Mum is attractive’ was one of the few attributes he had.

High performance podcast showed him to be a very honest, down to earth, humble yet ambitious coach. Very interesting journey so far and the tactical flexibility is going to be refreshing. He has dealt with players being sold left right and centre and also took on a top flight team with no management experience only to set their club record undefeated run immediately. As other posters have suggested, element of risk with any appointment but this looks like a guy with a track record over the last few years of getting more than the sum of his team’s parts. He’s highly rated by the France football expert and that in itself is encouraging. Getting this done before the season has even finished should assist the massive rebuild at hand. Let’s see what the squad looks like in September. I look forward to conceding a lot less goals, if his Ligue 1 defensive record continues.
