  1. Yeah his injury record really isn’t great, averaged 117 days injured over the last 6 seasons, best part of 4 months and that’s not far off half a season. We can only hope that’s he’s going to buck that trend and stay fit for the season, otherwise we may be recruiting for this position again in January! At least we are signing a player that isn’t injured on arrival so we may see positive contributions from him and if he does stay fit it’s a really good match for our style and a player that has the quality to be Dutch number 1. Can we just get lucky for once? I’d say our survival might heavily depend on his fitness and it’s a risk we don’t need to take, as much as I like this player when fit as a match and improvement for Saints.
  2. Our new number 26
  3. Our new number 18
  4. De Telegraaf and Fab
  5. I recall the transfer fee was only about £5/6m and so he got inflated wages. Still seems a bit steep though doesn’t it!
  6. Prowsey shouldn’t have left, but that £30m fee will have helped massively with the financial situation. He’s a PL quality player and I’d take him back without hesitation but not for anything like what we sold him for. Feel with the moves we’ve made this window, the club won’t see a spot for him and I’d rather loan a decent keeper for this season than any other position.
  7. Greaves looks like a decent signing for Ipswich.
  8. Left at half time, has a concert in Serbia later or something. Or maybe he couldn’t handle the nerves!
  9. I thought of Archer as an achievable option and think he’s probably as good as we can expect for our budget on a permanent. I’d imagine if we played Archer, Arma and BBD it could be a very fluid front 3 as all can play wide and central. Lesley looks like a big, strong and powerful unit that can pass the ball well. Seems like the perfect attributes that we needed to add to our midfield. Ipswich did well to get Phillips but this could be a signing that is equally as important.
  10. Fingers crossed we are feeling much more confident in the squad come 30/08. Appreciate the update.
  11. Slightly different profile to our last no.32!
  12. Might want to put this wind up merchant on ignore.
  13. If Bournemouth are loaning Mamardashvili, that is one less suitor for Ramsdale. Ajax loan rejected and Arsenal still saying they want a sale but can see a loan happening before the end of the window. Wonder if we are still in the race ‘right now, for that one?
  14. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5695430/2024/08/14/southampton-tactical-guide-premier-league/?source=ukfreedailyemail&campaign=711528&userId=5527189 Athletic article on our tactics ahead of the new season. Let me read it without a subscription so thought I’d share.
  15. He would be a great signing. However, didn’t Villa technically just buy him back and therefore having transferred him into the PL this window, they can’t then loan out to a PL team in the same window?
  16. I may or may not also be interested in any reliable, paid for services that people may or may not be considering using for the upcoming season.
  17. https://www.fotmob.com/en-GB/topnews/14119-season-preview-southampton Someone has predicted us to avoid relegation.
  18. Many clubs were sniffing around MOR from the off. Celtic are going to be patient to increase the transfer fee and MOR can evaluate his options for as long as he likes. It’s really not that simple as we just pay the money and get it done. The other parties have a big say in the speed at which the sale happens. We are currently not the most attractive option and patience is required. Look at THB on deadline day last summer, no way we would have signed him any earlier but he became available.
  19. ABK avoided shoulder surgery because he wanted to make that World Cup squad with Germany. That was his only motivation. He’s not worked out, let’s take the small profit and move on. Hopefully a sell on clause in case he does become the player we had hoped elsewhere. Need this money to improve us now.
  20. I wonder if that’s the permanent solution or just using what we have in a different role for the time being. There are still suggestions we could look to bring in someone new, going off Alfie House’s tweets on this subject.
  21. Would be good to get a straight answer on the Wilcox replacement, I know it’s a group effort and Bitcon has stepped in to cover for this window, but going forward what is the plan? What are the conditions where we can justify hiring a direct replacement? We knew Wilcox was going for many months and this window is key to survival, are we taking an unnecessary risk?
  22. 1. How many starting players are we looking to sign before now and the end of the window. 2. Given Bazunu’s save percentages etc ranking him bottom of starting keepers for the last 2 seasons and now picking up a big injury, are the club looking to improve this position permanently. Loan with option/obligation would make sense. 3. Is Ross Stewart anywhere near being able to contribute anything to the team or is he done? 4. How much of a role do you expect Lallana to play on the pitch this season. Are we looking to transition him to a coaching role after this season. 5. Is Alcaraz likely to be loaned for further development or do we need to generate funds to improve the starting lineup. Assume the latter. 6. Do we see Wellington as a Saints or Goztepe player for this season/half season? 7. Thoughts on a more pragmatic style being required to be competitive in the premier league, as we did successfully in the playoffs. 8. Why are season ticket and members retail discounts now ‘at certain times in the season’. Do you plan to communicate when they will be?
  23. Not sure how Leicester finish anywhere other than 20th if the expected points deduction lands. Rumoured to be up to as much as 15 points!
  24. Pretty sure it was the Athletic that reported Ralph had rejected the opportunity to sign both Olize and Elise whilst manager of Saints.
