There was a link to a last min loan deal for JWP in the summer but we eventually got Cornet. Would have served all parties well if we could have got that one over the line.

Look what we did!

I don’t rate him at PL level but he got the most goal involvements in the football league last season. One reservation I have is whether he can do that again next season in a Juric system.
-
We don’t have a goal scorer, so a straight loan until the end of the season would be ok with me. Crazy how we never replaced him properly, that was the end of Ralph and the end of us as a solid PL team.
-
That’s possible, but he’s Newcastle through and through. Boro might be more palatable for him.
-
I don’t like it either but he would have had 1 year left on his deal this summer and if he won’t sign an extension then we need to get what we can. He’s not been given many opportunities but I do think back to the QPR start where he couldn’t impact the game at all. Only ever looked good against tired opponents off the bench. For a player that’s contributed nothing it’s not a terrible financial deal. He may go on to live up to the hype but if he won’t sign what choice do we have?
-
Can’t see him ever playing for Sunderland! Again, surely we need him for next season?
-
We rejected Roma’s bid, they have gone for Victor Nelsson instead.

I reckon Blackmore didn’t look into Udoh enough before sending his original tweet. It would be crazy to bring in an academy prospect and get rid of a first team striker and call it justified.
-
I’d like to request we don’t make a ‘deadline day’ thread this time and just use this thread (so far so good!). We always end up with 2 threads for no good reason, let’s not!
-
Surely Udoh signing for the u21s initially (as per Alfie House), has no bearing on Cameron Archer leaving at all? We still have 1 PL loan slot left to use, would expect us to use it?

Welington has a similar running style to Bertrand. If he could be half the player he was, that would be nice.

Tbf THB was having a mare and clearly had a knock.

Yellow kit is nice.

We play 100% man for man, lose just one duel and it’s carnage as people go wandering to cover. This style needs speed and fitness, we lack a lot of that in this lineup.
-
The space in the middle is always there because our 2 holding mids have no pace, FBs go higher and then depending on which side we attack we end up with one of the three CBs going high too. Man for man marking then has one CB rush to the ball when it hits his man, leaving just the 1 CB in position. It becomes a very risky high line.

Looked quite quick to close down and get a foot in early on but has vanished as the half has gone on
