Still noises that Everton want Sulemana, Gnonto staying at Leeds it seems if he’s playing for them all of a sudden and apologising etc. Straight loan, loan with obligation and permanent transfer are all still options apparently. But how do they have the money to buy if they sign Beto? I could see us looking to replace Tella with McAtee or Roberts. We have been linked to both this summer. McAtee may have interest from PL though. Despite what the Swans manager says, surely it is very likely we get Wood, especially as Jack’s injury sounds very serious. Hoping Holgate can do what Fraser did yesterday and show he’s motivated and good enough to help. I was pleasantly surprised with Fraser, looked immediately like he can help us. I can see Che going to Palace. I wish we could hold firm on him, sign Stewart and then in January if Stewart is fit and firing we could cash in on Che to a desperate PL team and everyone wins. Sadly player power means we will blink first and sell Che this week. His absence yesterday says it all. Lyanco to Celtic sounds good, he would probably do well over there. Hoping we don’t decide keeping Lyanco is a solution to Jack’s injury. Should be a very busy and interesting week. At least when we play Sunderland we will finally have the group confirmed and players that want to put on the shirt. We all just want to know what that looks like and if it’s promotion charge capable.

Including his end of season run at Swansea, that’s now 10 wins and 3 draws in his last 13 Championship games. He’s had a lot of change and noise going on for his first month of the season with us and he has handled it brilliantly. Looks a great appointment so far and generally a much better watch than we’ve had to put up with for the last 2 years.

Isn’t Sinclair Armstrong starting?

Impressive to sell out for QPR at home in the champs, great effort from our fans!

As much as I can see the logic in the sensible posts above regarding our current situation and wider strategy, selling a guy on a two year contract that just fired debt leveraged Burnley to the big time is not good business. We have a choice here and we are choosing to let an important player at this level leave, in the same week we will lose our main striker and reportedly lost out on his replacement and don’t have a big budget left. I can see what we are doing generally but as things stand, there seems to be a huge risk being taken with the goalscoring element of our team. The one place I’d rather we didn’t take that risk. Week to go in the market and we may yet keep Sulemana and buy a Che replacement that is better than Piroe, but I think it’s reasonable to have some doubts!

Feels like they rolled the dice, got burnt and now want to balance the books before doing anything. Unlike Gao they actually have access to money and seemed to understand you’ve got to invest to make money. I think being in the championship they are treading very carefully. In short still an underwhelming sustainable approach that isn’t competitive in this mega rich modern football space.

Well according to Jacob Tanswell on his Fraser announcement tweet, we are having to utilise the loan market as we spent so much last season. He pretty much confirmed that in his replies: https://x.com/j_tanswell/status/1695119121506058564?s=46&t=7raSKCMt6LV8RJ1C2d39WQ Record sales for this league and we don’t have much of a budget by the sounds of it? Maybe we need to sell Tella just to cover the loan fees and Wood…
-
I don’t support this decision. It’s a decent fee but it’s a bad call.

This time last year I would have laughed at you if you said he would got for £20m to Germany after his loan at Burnley. This one feels like a big blow for our promotion push, Fraser is obviously his replacement.
-
What do Mason Holgate and Ryan Fraser have in common? It’s been about 4 years since they looked like decent players. If they aren’t coming in for squad depth and are expected to be starters, that seems a bit of a gamble?
-
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Why sell Tella at any price? He can be an important player in this league, smashed it last season and still has 2 years left. We have made enough from realising asset value of other players. Che with a year left I can understand the pressure to get him to sign or sell him. Tella was dropped by Arsenal and we gave him a pathway to the PL and he didn’t really take it. We give him a loan to develop and he took it personally, crying when we told him and now seemingly happy to fuck us off at the first opportunity. You might say the fee is above his current market value but I still think it is mad to sell him right now.
-
If you’re Piroe and your first choice is to join Martin here, surely you wait? You only join Leeds if there is real doubt you’re not going to be signed? I don’t think we were 100% committed to signing him for whatever reason?
-
He did score against us for Swansea in the cup. Linked to PL teams for a few windows. He’s not been hiding under a rock like.
-
If Piroe was our first choice to replace Adams and he was keen to come (as local Swansea journo suggests), why is he not here? Have Saints got a better option lined up? is Che staying? You’d think Piroe would wait for us to sell Che if we were his preferred destination under his old manager. Not sure Leeds trying hard for a week covers that all off. I maintain that we could have had him if we wanted. Unless Leeds financial package is huge in comparison to ours? Something doesn’t quite add up for me.

TalkSport said we had declined to bid. I think your take on it sounds pretty logical.
-
Article does refer to him as Paul Wilcox, so not sure if that puts any doubt into the validity of their claims?
-
https://x.com/swanseacitylive/status/1695030810842214421?s=46&t=7raSKCMt6LV8RJ1C2d39WQ This says we were in advanced negotiations for Piroe and he was keen to come but the efforts of Leeds meant he went there in the end.
-
Trying to think from a positive angle here. Are these new loan players that need to rebuild their careers and coming in as competition. Using loan system to avoid having to sell the starters like Tella? Rather than spend on their replacements?
-
Ryan Fraser and Mason Holgate loans give me Ainsley Maitland-Niles vibes. Overpaid PL players that flatter to deceive. Dropping down a level might make them useful but I am concerned about their wages and motivation.
-
I’m also surprised that we weren’t in for Piroe. Surely he would have been interested if we were. It does put a lot of pressure now on either keeping Che or a gamble on a less known entity (for this league) hitting the ground running, should we sell Che this window. I’m in the hoping we keep Che camp. I don’t think we can sign better whilst in this league and I think I’d rather keep him than have Piroe too. Contract situation makes me think that’s pretty damn unlikely though, so I do harbour a lot of the same concerns as many other posters. Hoping we keep Che or have an exciting alternative lined up that proves Wilcox to be the head chef cooking up promotion.
-
This is the championship though, not the premier league. Both should be useful enough at this level, although I’d agree we can improve at CB.
-
Yeah I’d like Awe to be 5th choice. Charles to focus on CDM unless we have an injury crisis. Think we might need 2 actually, if 2 leave.

How do I do this using my iPhone?

I’m copying the link as normal from iPhone app and then changing ‘x’ to ‘Twitter’ but the text just goes darker red and never embeds. Are you having success on an iPhone? https://twitter.com/mailsport/status/1694273280700543060?s=46&t=7raSKCMt6LV8RJ1C2d39WQ
