Agreed, he will likely be back in the champ this time next year. Opportunity to prove himself in the PL though.

Do we know when the presser is? Normally it’s announced in advance on the official Twitter or at least by Alfie.

One I’m sure we would have been keen to sign, does this end their Smallbone interest?
-
Well it seems pretty unlikely, but I’d welcome Prowsey back with his tail between his legs if it was true!

Agree defensively we have concerns. 4 shots on target against us so far this season and all were goals. Martin’s Swansea also conceded more than expected from few chances given away. Let’s see where we are on September 1st, we should have a better idea if we can emulate Burnley’s successful season or not by then.

Pretty sure they did sell their best players (Pope, Tarkowski, McNeil, Mee, Weghorst etc) and learn a new possession based style after Dyche-ball. Stylistically they had a lot of similarities to Swansea, lots of the ball, lots of shots, few shots against. In fact they were the only team that had more possession and shots than Swansea. Seems a fairly logical comparison to me. You could argue our squad was much better, certainly in terms of asset value and that gives us more freedom in the market than they had. It’s a shame the teams we are competing against for promotion are stronger this time around.

It should be part of the JWP sale agreement, if not we have missed a trick!

If Palace are in the race, surely he goes there? Otherwise, you’d hope his relationship with Martin has the same pull as it did with Manning.

Wash your mouth out, Son… 🎵

Shifted so far: Caballero, Lis, Salisu, DCC, Tino, Diallo, Prowsey, Elyounoussi, Walcott. So 12 more: Lavia, KWP, Adams, Sulemana, McCarthy, Perraud, Lyanco, Onuachu, ABK, Tella, Bree, Mara. It’s basically an entire squad, I just don’t see it. If people are watching Wilcox’s progress, it sounds like all they will see is someone overseeing him solidify Southampton as a bang average championship team, whilst bringing in what must be a record in sales money for the league? If we kept Tella, KWP (super unlikely) and replaced Adams well, we could be competitive, but kids would be the only squad depth. I just don’t see how you can lose 21 players in one window and have any chance of being successful. Even if most of these players have let us down, it’s just too much change. Coupled with new system and management changes throughout the club. Don’t know about you guys but I’m starting to feel a bit concerned if this is true.

Prowsey is held in such high esteem to us emotionally invested fans simply because he hung around so long. We have had better talents come through our academy that jumped at the first opportunity to leave. We’ve also had players like Lallana who went on a journey with us before doing so. I love Prowsey, great servant, seems a very intelligent and decent bloke. As a player, he is world class at free kicks, has excellent stamina, keeps the balls well and is never injured. He really cared for the club. He is a little one paced and he did play a simple passing role for us mostly. I think his edge of the box finishing is pretty good and something we didn’t use regularly enough. £30m is probably about right, he’s worth more to us but that is his market value. Telling that bigger clubs weren’t interested in signing him. Think WHU is a team he should play regularly in, PL and Europa next season. Higher salary. Can’t blame him for not sticking around as much as I wanted and hoped he would. All the best, Captain.

Smallbone’s agent just doing his job to secure him the best new contract at Saints?

Aboard the HMS Piss the League? 😉

We were linked last summer too.

Someone have a word with Nathan Tella, he didn’t complete the set.

Guessing this one won’t have a stream anywhere? Pay for audio the only option if you’re not going to the game now?

People saying we will struggle to create against better teams, I think better teams will leave us more spaces to attack. Wednesday were low block counter last night, pretty much every man behind the ball, all styles of football can be frustrated playing against such a defensive team. We are still so early on in our journey with this new style. I saw a lot of control, so much composure playing out from the back and just a lot of nearly moments in the final third, which will likely improve with each game. We looked like a PL team playing a L1 team last night, don’t think I’ve ever seen us dominate/control a game like that. It would have been very hard to take had we not scored that late winner. What a way to manage the injury time. Much less stressful, although I somehow still harboured an expectation we would give a chance away, it’s just what we normally do - see Leicester at home last season as an example.
