  1. But isn't what you mean by “see more ambition” really “see spending more money”?! For me, Saints show plenty of ambition, it’s just our ambition doesn’t involve chucking huge sums of money around. Our ambition is to build long-term self-sustainability by investing in the academy and developing younger players, whilst continuing to be successful. I’d argue that is a far more ambitious project than simply going out and spanking £35 million quid on a couple of Bentekes or suchlike each summer. I think you either buy into the Saints project, or as S-Clarke has suggested, go and support a club who’s ambition is to reach for the stars financially.
  2. I reckon Berahinho's 'petulant child' antics last season won't have endeared him to the black box much
  3. OK the first season of improvement was in a lower division and I agree you could argue that we finished lower (7th in L1) than the season before (23rd in the Champ) so technically we didn't improve our position. But we went from a horrible "gettingspankedwithPoortvliet&Wotteincharge" type 23rd to a exciting 7th, loadsa goals and a cup win. So I'm giving the old board 5 seasons and calling it 7 :-)
  4. Ah, ok, thanks
  5. Why?
  6. How would you get rid of him? He's halfway through a 4 year contract. Would you sack him for being injured?
  7. You must be ITK! Which teams are scouting him that you know of? Who's he going to sign for?
  8. Agreed. As he's under contract another club would have to come in for him anyway. These claptrap articles are always written as though players can just be given away at any point in time.
  9. I think if you are dead-set on seeing hundreds of millions of pounds being thrown around it is probably you that needs to go and find another club!
  10. VvD looks massive!
  11. How do you explain Yoshida playing in 20 league games last season for a team that finished 6th in the Premier League?
  12. This doesn't make any sense to me at all. I'm sure I read on Saintsweb that all our best players are desperate to leave and as for that Les Reed, he is completely incompetent...
  13. 1. Happy 2. Yes 3. Possibly, but it's unrealistic to think you could employ someone of equal quality to VvD or Fonte who would be content to be the back up plan.
  14. Wow, that is some reaction! Maybe you ought to go and have a lie down?
  15. You've not been there have you? Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk
  16. Whilst most of your post makes sense, you can't have spent much time in the countryside south of Manchester. The areas around Alderley Edge, Wilmslow, Poynton etc are a very long way from being crappy!
  17. I think we can safely say this will be the only high point of this thread
  18. Really can't understand this. Did you miss the bit where Les Reed presided over arguably the most consistently successful period in the club's history?
  19. You mentioned him so I had to watch "THAT" goal... Woof. Possibly my favourite 'non-LeTiss' Saints goal... ( possibly )
  20. Nicholl was Saints manager when I got into football supporting, so the first appointment I rememeber was Branfoot. I was too young and naive to be as underwhelmed by that as I possibly should have been!
  21. Without wishing to sound pedantic, that reads as thought there is no chance of him staying at Athletic. Presumably you mean "No chance. He's staying at Athletic"?!
  22. Maybe a bit too much of a "luxury" player for a relegation fight? Would be interested to see how he's get on in a team that gives him creative freedom. He seems to have pace and tricks.
  23. And the award for today's most pendantic reply goes to...
  24. Bravo sir - big respect. Another vote for MacMillan http://www.macmillan.org.uk
