Didn't have to wait that long Heisenberg Jr AKA Batman was in like a shot. I'd like to at least watch him play a few games in a saints shirt before I write him off but I realise that isn't really the Saintsweb way...

Happy with that myself. It is easy to come up with loads of players needed to improve the squad but we are never going to bring 8 or so new players in one summer. I don't think we can undo the issues built up in the squad, the last couple of seasons, in one transfer window. A dominant CB and a good quality 10 would certainly improve us and be a good start for next season.

We have a bloated squad full of average players and Targett is very average I'd quite happily off load him along with the several others especially if it frees up funds for some better players. Honestly if we where looking to buy Matt Targett from another club as a Bertrand replacement this place would be having a meltdown. I get that every time we sell a player we have to have a meltdown on here, which I can understand if they are a big player for us like Morgan, Vic or Mane, but a player who hasn't ever been close to the first team, earns 45K a week and isn't even that good really isn't worth a major meltdown. Having said that in todays market when even dross is expensive, Fulham can **** off at £10 million we should be looking for more.

I think this coming season will be better than last so I'm looking forward to it. Hughes isn't really my cup of tea but unlike MoPe at least he can get the basics right. The squad isn't great (certainly not good enough to be pushing Everton or Leicester for best of the rest next season) but again I think Hughes will get more out of it than MoPe……and who knows maybe Austin will manage to stay fit for a whole season and score a bucket load

Yep renewed a couple of days ago. Never in doubt that I would I just like to keep my money in my account for a long as possible. There is more to going to the football for me than just what's going on on the pitch so us being a bit ****e isn't a deal breaker for me.

I'm not sure those four are either especially based on last season.

I've always been a fan of Tadic I always amazed he got so much stick on here. Quite strange reading this thread to find out the act of him leaving has taken him from the player everyone liked to moan about (only slightly less than Redmond) to our best player who is all but unreplaceable..

No way are we buying 8 new players and shipping out 10 never going to happen.

Deal breaker apparently. Saints only offered him one shirt which is why chose Leicester Les has a strict one shirt per player rule which is costing us signings...

I don't know why people think we have no money we clearly do and we spend it (when was the last season we didn't buy any players?) more of nan issue for me is we haven't spent it very well the last two seasons.

Guess that Juve and Napoli weren't that interested then if all they had to do was stump up 15 million and he was theirs.

I'd ****ing kill for a CB who is happy to keep it simple and not be afraid to smash into row Z or just hoof it long when the situation called for it. We've got enough wannabe ball playing defenders trying to show off their skills and losing possession around our box already.

What are expecting for a CB hardly a position that screams entertaining video. Still Boufal's youtube vid was amazing and that worked out well..

I don't disagree I've always been a fan of Tadic. I do think we have an issue with a bloated squad and wage bill though and like you said we need a good clear out. Problem is the ones we need to offload are unlikely to get better wages elsewhere if you can find anyone to pay money for them in the first place so are going to be hard to shift.

A couple of years back when they gave a load of players nice new contracts and started increasing the contracts from 4 to 5 or 6 year contracts the vibe on here was generally positive (most likely fueled by the Clyne and Victor situations). It looked like the club was trying to get away from selling or at the very least give us more power when we did sell. Of course the down side is it upped our wage bill and left us with a squad full of average players on high wages its going to take a while to sort that out I reckon.

I don't think we are selling in order to create money to afford to buy players more that we need to watch the wage bill. Perhaps we can't keep adding more players on big wages to the wage bill indefinitely without off loading some as well?

Didn't we just bid a club record fee for some bloke from Norwich?
