Which is not much use considering we have very little presence in the air from our front line. I don't want to see endless crosses into an opposition box containing one (two if you are lucky) saints players and half a dozen opposition players. We are much better when we play to feet or get to the byline and put in low cutbacks.

He has to get past Dele Ali first a player who is actual as good as the hype.

I believe Long's conversion rate was the lowest in the squad last season and Redmond was our second highest scorer after Austin. Long was shocking last season I certainly don't see him as much of an upgrade (or any upgrade) on Redmond. What we need is someone similar to Antonio at west ham IMO.

we don't pay the sort of wages he would want nor are we the big club he thinks he is entitled to.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: Chelsea set to sign Arsenal midfielder http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/41077833 -
Did you go to the cup game the other night? if so you would have seen what our forward line looks like without Redmond's pace. Trying to watch a combination of Austin, Tadic, JWP and Boufal counter attack at (no) pace was ****ing painful. Redmond starts because we don't have any other players in his position with any pace. If we had another player comparable to him then his place probably would be under threat but dropping him and replacing him out wide with JWP, Boufal, Tadic or Davis is a worse option than playing Redmond.

not suggesting squad rotation are we....

Eh? What if he has a bad injury a week before the season ends? -

Maybe we should let Les and the club know 30 is the new 10... -
so he is going to refuse to play for the next 5 years fair play to him for sticking to his convictions then.

Selective memory Charlie. Victor did several very public interviews telling everyone he was ready to move to Arsenal and better things. Victor kicked off as soon as he found out spurs were interested the only difference between the two is the VVD saga has gone on longer because Liverpool , unlike spurs, showed their hand very early. If VVD is here come first of September he will have a change of heart (just like Victor did because is he really going to not play for the best part of 18 months in the prime of his career?) and if he has a couple of good games most of the fan base will just turn a blind eye to what went on just like the did with Victor.

Keep him he will play and like Morgan I reckon he will play well or he ****s any chance of getting a dream move to one the big boys next summer. If refuses to play he rots in the reserves (preferably unpaid if that's allowed).

29 year old Jonny Evans is worth more than £23 million in the new mad transfer market... Jonny Evans: Leicester City have a second offer for West Brom defender rejected http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/41071705 -
That's a huge stretch...but I like your optimism.

really? It seems pretty bloody similar to me short memory? Victor Wanyama has been left out of Southampton’s game against Norwich today after refusing to back down on his bid to join Tottenham. It is the second matchday squad in a row that Wanyama has been omitted from after he was left out of the Saints' Europa League party to face FC Midtjylland in midweek. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/victor-wanyama-left-out-southampton-6349265

I like this bit Despite a public show of discord between player and club, midfielder Steven Davis insists that Van Dijk remains a popular figure within the dressing room and any antipathy towards the 26-year-old would be cast aside if he is still at St. Mary’s on Friday. “That door has never been shut,” Davis said. “There has been a lot made of the situation outside the club that isn’t necessarily true all the time but we will welcome him back. He’s a top quality player and he’s done well for us over the last couple of seasons. “Everybody knows the quality that Virgil has got and what he can bring to the team and we’re obviously hopeful that we can keep hold of him and he can come back into the team and challenge for a place again because he’s a top quality centre half.”
-
These two things are probably related. Back in the lower leagues we had a pretty constant core to the team, player songs stuck, and were available to sing for a while becuase the players weren't ****ing off every summer. On top of that we had a Wembley final and two promotions that gave us the chance to sing about going to Wembley, being top of the league and being promoted. Now we have none of that leaving us with a pretty limited song list.
-
I assume if he refuses to play we refuse to pay. And who says we have to sell in Jan?
-
Really? we haven't sold any of our best players (yet) which is what everyone said they wanted. We have off load some dead weight like Jrod and Gazza and the new signings can't be judged for half a season at least until they are settled and playing. Maybe this summer will be gash but you won't be able to make a judgement like that until the end of the season.
-
He would improve our squad a lot I reckon strong, direct and pacey just what we are missing up top.
-
Reckon their best player is Michail " not good enough for the championship" Antonio....
-
Should be now we've replaced a manager who was holding back a team of really good talented players with a manager who can get the best out of the team with exciting pressing football ...
-
Interesting to see what moves he has left....begging, crying in Les's office or offering Ralph a hand job..
-
It's a two way thing the team have to give the fans something to support. One goal from open play this season (not to mention last season) is sucking the life out of the fan base.
-
On that performance I don't think it is Hudders that need to be the team worried about relegation...
