so what do you want the club to do? Not get players to sign extensions?
-
So he is doing a Victor? I'd be disappointed with Jose if that's the case.
-
This seasons Man U are a lot better though and have a better manger so it would be bloody hard to get a result but you never know though early season form is usually all over the place for everyone so a few shocks are always assured.

Generally I agree with your points but the red bit really?. I can think of several games last season alone were we were just as bad if not worse (second half Leicester at home, second half Bournemouth at home, whole game Bournemouth away, Midget-land (both legs), Liverpool in the cup, Spurs at home, Everton at home and Man U at home all come readily to mind) -

To many fans with delusions of grandeur these days. I mean the champions lost to Hull yesterday at team with a squad of 13 1st teamers and no permanent manager there is no such thing as an easy game in the PL which is why it's popular. -
I doubt it. The club aren't exactly trigger happy with managers unless we look nailed on for relegation he will be given time and support by the club. Koeman got away with a very average start, a **** poor middle and a decent end to last season which covered up some real dross being severed up with out any threat of being sacked.

Would be pretty mad to let him go now the season has started unless the club have got another VVD/Toby lined up (which I doubt). I can't believe given his history with the club Fonte would be anything but professional if we said no. So just tell him no.

fair enough it was a stat on the BBC match thread OptaJoe 2004 -The last Southampton manager to win their opening PL game in charge was Paul Sturrock back in March 2004 (2-0 vs Liverpool). Saint. 1:39 p.m. - 13 August 2016 -

You could level that criticism at most of the team yesterday. -

They did but there were opportunities to get in behind if we played the ball quicker. To many times yesterday players chose a poor safe ball giving Watford time to regain their shape when an early ball would have unlocked them. -

I saw a fact yesterday that Sturrock was the last saints manger to win the opening game of the season... which is pretty bad TBF -

It should. Long and Redmond could have a field day with the right through balls and quick ones over the top. They got a lot of balls in poor positions yesterday I mean balls to Redmond's head or with his back to goal are pointless he isn't a CF. JWP was the weak link but the new manger is still getting used to the team and there is bound to be a few team selections that don't work early doors. I'll be worried if JWP becomes a regular starter but I think Hjojberg will get the nod from now on and we looked much more dangerous with him in midfield. -
Watching his goal slowed down on MoTD was a hell of a strike with his left foot through a crowd of bodies.

Tadic's work in the first half deserved a better finish from Long. Long was quiet yesterday apart from the one break aside though balls through to him and Redmond were pretty **** poor yesterday. -

Watching MoTD and plenty of sides looked off the pace in their opening games not just us. Shearer more impressed with Redmond than most of our fans. -
Our top scorers got 11 each last season. We haven't had a 20 goal a season striker since the championship.
-
I don't think Redmond (or Long )where getting the best of balls today. They need the ball played into space behind the defence instead Redmond was getting balls played into him with his back to goal or aimed at his head he wont do much in those sort of situations.
-
I thought he did ok today. He did the job he was asked to do. Looked to move the ball forward and protected it well and he was always available to receive a pass. Some of his passing was poor but you could aim that criticism at most of the team today. He does dive in at times when he'd be better of just standing the player up but in general I rate him.

We had width I think both Cedric and Targett where playing high up and trying to get toward their final balls where poor though. Cedric in particular didn't seem to realise Pelle doesn't play for us anymore.... -

Is it heck more like the usual over the top saints web dramatics after one whole game. I saw enough in the second half once the players started to get in to it to be confident we can have a decent season. -

On the train poor first 30 minutes cost us we looked off the pace and a bit confused. The team grew into the game though and had a very decent second half. VVD and Romeu were very good. Hojbjerg was class and showed JWP up. Pied had a decent cameo doesn't seem afraid to shoot. Redmond showed glimpses of what he can offer. Lots of solid with dodgy moments from the rest of the team. Cedric was poor but got better. Tadic faded in the second half. Long very quiet. Targett ok at best. Yoshida was well Yoshida. Sadly the let down was JWP poor all round. -
Even more hype around Friday night - Pogba Debut

Jose and Cedric have all ready given Pogba a schooling this summer... -
Apart from posting #wemarchon on social media he hasn't actual done anything, that we know about, other than revel he would be tempted by Barca and Real in an interview..
