  1. Also cheaper than Mane with iirc 18 goals and 25 assists last season.
  2. You have to ask yourself though if he so amazing why a) no big club was willing to take chance on him before Southampton? b) why the only club now interested in signing him are Liverpool? Even Man U last season never actually bid despite interest. For the best player to ever play for saints he doesn't seem to have excited any of the big clubs enough to sign him.
  3. Is he? exciting to watch yes but his goals and assists were exactly the same as Pelle's and like one better than Long's. Mane is not as bad as some are making out but neither is he as good as some are trying to make out.
  4. There is no evidence we don't put up a fight. We offered Mane the best contract ever offered to a saints player and he said no. We have constantly got big fees for players we've sold again no evidence of us being shafted.
  5. I doubt sponsors give a **** tbh I doubt they signed up to a long term deal expecting the exact some team personal from start to finish. Same with season tickets how many fans don't buy season tickets because a certain player or manger isn't at the club....
  6. Well tbh if not being a selling club gives you the season Everton have just had ......I say sell on. Your argument would hold a little more water if Everton had achieved anything by holding on to Stones.
  7. Saints fans expectations have risen steadily every year thanks to the clubs up ward trajectory. Now thanks to Leicester fans expectations in the PL as a whole seem to have gone through the roof.
  8. John stones was also turd all last season and it helped Everton to finish in the bottom half of the table. In retrospect they would have been better off cashing in on Stones and using the money to strengthen their crap defence.
  9. It works both ways though the last few summers have shown saints fans are also prone to over estimating how good some of the players leaving are to. On his day Mane is brilliant but I cant see how anyone can argue that he didn't have some very poor patches at saints.
  10. True so its good money from that point of view but his goals and assists stats are way above Mane's and he was Bundesliga player of the season so he looks a bargain compared to Mane.
  11. Man u just about to sign the Bundesliga player of the season (18 goals and 25 assists) for 26 million Dortmund paid 23 million for him http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11667/10326082/henrikh-mkhitaryan-to-manchester-united-transfer-at-advanced-stage Puts Mane's fee in some context
  12. We ( according to VFTT) offered Mane a contract to make him the highest paid player in club history what more do you want?
  13. Worth quoting If VFTT is ITK we offered Mane a very good contract and he chose to leave anyway ....not sure what else the club could do
  14. Liverpool fans have a very different outlook to us. If the roles were reversed we would have creamed ourselves for two cup finals and 8th but when you Liverpool fan it's just another season with no silverware.
  15. This has been on the cards for ages so I don't know why people are acting all surprised and shocked. His great end to the season also did a good job of covering up the abject middle of the season. We could have kept him one more season but would have lost him around Christmas for the AFCON anyway and sold him for a fraction of what we got now in a years time....because he didn't want to stay. As long as the money from the sale is put back into the team I'll cope with it.
  16. What you Think NC found him all by himself with no input from Les Reed....
  17. According to his agent only the elite few of football clubs can afford Lukaku now.....if any of them would actually want him is another matter.
  18. Didn't look any worse than most of the crap served up in the Euros so far.
  19. Players sign for clubs not managers....
  20. Ah Ok I was going on the Jeremy Wilson article on the 2014 summer meltdown Krueger would then come out publicly to say that no one else would be leaving. A £10 million bid had been made by Tottenham for Schneiderlin in the belief that he had a release clause. Schneiderlin thought this had been agreed with Cortese when he signed a contract extension the previous year. It left a difficult situation to manage but, after sounding off on Twitter, Schneiderlin met with Koeman and Krueger at the club's training ground. He was advised to think about how his career might be affected by any refusal to play. He was given two days off to clear his head, returned fully focused and has been Southampton's best player so far this season. Tottenham never returned with another bid once it become clear that there was no release clause. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/southampton/11140340/The-inside-story-of-Southamptons-brilliant-start-to-the-Premier-League-season-under-Ronald-Koeman.html
  21. No, rightly or wrongly, Les wants a good training ground coach to develop the clubs players after talking to Pellegrini Les decided he wasn't that type of manager.
  22. No manager is a big enough name to keep Mane because the manager doesn't pay his wages (or more importantly his agents cut of a move) .
  23. Except he appears to have been nudged aside because he wouldn't commit to the club. Would the club be showing more ambition by letting Koeman wind his contract down? Seems to me by asking Koeman to commit longer term Les was showing plenty of ambition.
  24. Has a saints player ever had a buy out clause? I can't think of one? Morgan thought he did which is why spurs tried to nick him on the cheap two summers ago, but he didn't, hence the hissy fit.
  25. Based on what?
