At the end of the season. There were two players I'd thought would go this summer Vic and Mane. Did people really convince themselves he was going to sign a new contract and stay? He has two seasons left and will miss several weeks of one of those at the ACON. So 30+ million isn't bad considering he'll leave next summer for a lot less ( which upset loads of people when it happened with Vic)

I assume the club think they do or they wouldn't still be at the club. It's a major part of the club philosophy so they are going to find a manager to implement it come what may I guess.

Not with one years contract and no other buyers it isn't.

If we don't sell them they just leave for free eventually which would bite us on the ass to if we kept letting that happen. We can't force players to stay who don't want to stay.

We did last summer. We've said "no" to two other players the last two summers and they just left a year latter anyway. Hard as it may be to take some players (usually the good ones) see saints as a stepping stone to else where.

No the club want a training ground coach and someone to bring through youth they clearly didn't think that was Pellegrini after talking to him. I get the feeling what the fans are looking for and what the club are looking for is very different right now. Seems to me Les found, in his opinion, the perfect manager/coach in poch and is now looking for someone in the same mould. Looks to me like a bit of a risk and the club may be guilty of being a bit to dogmatic about the "Southampton Way".

I want to get excited but I just keep thinking Remi Garde...

I assume the targets are nothing more than a starting point that identifies managers who might fit what the clubs wants rather than a list of phone numbers they just call up and offer a job to. I doubt the likes of Pellegrini or Klinsmen were ever on the black box list in the first place.

So reading that Les basically wants a mopo clone. Might as well just go to spurs and offer poch four times his current salary and everything he wants Les....

He's in the England team and first name on the team sheet while playing at Leicester. If Leicester have offered him another 30 grand a week he probably felt a move to another club, where he'd have to prove himself again, is a risk he didn't need to take. He's guaranteed 400K a month for 4 years which pretty much sets up for life with the associated risk of a big club move.
