As last season showed for us where you finish is the important thing not what your temporary position nine games in to a season is How many times have Saints finished in the top six in the PL? Unless we finish constantly in the top 6 of the league we are not a top six club. I'm sure if a top quality, international, keeper who is happy to sign for the right wages (and Stek/ Forster are happy to sit on the bench) becomes available the club will snap him up.

What's to wonder about? Chelsea were **** against us.

Camila Batmanghelidjh and Alan Yentob

Well this made me LOL Disbelievingly Mr Flynn read out a Kids Company document claiming that if it was shut down, swathes of South London would “descend into savagery”. Mr Yentob insisted that this was “not a wild exaggeration”, because there had since been stabbings and a murder. Mr Jenkin said he’d heard this was because local youths could no longer use Kids Company’s money to “pay their drug pushers”. -
Not arguing that Kelvin's kicking was anything but **** but don't you think the total lack of effort to win the ball in midfield was more at fault? Honestly don't think having Stek in goal would have changed the outcome yesterday considering how powder puff our midfield was second half.
-
Surely Pelle is capable of dropping wide like Lambert to free up space for Jrod?
-
I noticed yesterday Mane and Tadic swapping sides during the game.
-
So after watching our midfield look completely outclassed in yesterday's second half **** up what do people think should be our starting, regular, midfield three when everyone is fit? For me it has to be Steven Davis - two games, this season, I've seen him subbed in the second half followed by us getting dominated yesterday and against Man U. You can criticize his lack of goals but his work rate and closing down of the opposition is 1st class Victor - despite his dodgy passing at times he is still the best DM we have might as well make the most of him before he moves to spurs next summer Romeu - picks up a few to many yellows but I think he has looked decent with some good ball distribution. Also seem to win a lot in the air. As for the rest Can't really comment on Jordy yet as he hasn't played enough. A couple of very nice passes yesterday to set Mane off on the attack plus the pass for the goal in the under 21s game shows me he has something about him that could be effective if we can get up to speed on playing in the PL. JWP not showing enough for me. he is technically good, takes some decent set pieces but he only really looks good when the opposition give him time and space on the ball in a battle like yesterday his inability to win the ball or protect the ball makes him a passenger. Harrison Reed - ermmm disappeared
-
errr yeah because they got **** all protection from a powder puff midfield second half.
-
yep Also thought Cedric looked good game, going forward and defending, today. I was surprised he was taken off...unless his head injury was giving him problems.
-
Yes
-
No they really weren't awful they have speed and aggression in abundance second half today. Not sure they will keep up they're current form though their defence is as leaky as a broken sieve which is being covered up by Vardy's goal scoring exploits at the moment what happens when his purple patch comes to end is anyone's guess.
-
True should have kept going but if that had gone in....
-
Actually the table looked much better than I was expecting we've gone up a spot only 3pts off 5th above Everton, Liverpool and Chelsea and only a point behind Spurs not terrible at all considering our up and down form so far this season.
-
Interesting from the BBC write up Southampton should have had the game out of sight, with Sadio Mane delaying after rounding goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel when 2-0 up, but the hosts tired as the match wore on with all 10 of their starting outfield players involved in international duty in the past week. Not looking for excuses, because the second half was poor, but that last line is certainly interesting (though no doubt Leicester had plenty of players on international duty to)
-
The future of KD seems to be taking all the flack for a shocking team performance something the rest of the team will no doubt be very happy about:p
-
From were I was sitting (admittedly in the Itchen North) he had gone around their keeper in the second half and the goal was wide open all he to do was shoot. Might change my mind if I see it from some different angles later.
-
yep though it is easier to focus on the back up keeper. Kelvin was in goal the first half and were in total control second half was down to our outfield players.
-
Love how people are trying to lay the whole thing a Kelvins door he did alright made a couple of saves. Yes his kicking was **** but he trains with the team every week the outfield players should be ready for that and adjust their game accordingly. This game was ****ed up (almost wrote lost there ) in midfield not by our back up keeper but our midfield who were out muscled, second to every ball second half and just seem to sit off the Leicester players inviting them to attack. Actually I should mention Bertrand to. Poor game from him today. I have got used to him being very good week in week out but he was slow, ponderous getting forward and poor defending today the yellow card he picked us was just stupid.
-
That for me was the turning point Leicester came out and bossed us second half but if Mane puts that ball in an open goal I think it would have taken the wind out of them and we would have won comfortably instead after that we just deflated as a team and just let them come at us time and again until the pressure told.
-
But the midfield players should have adjusted to the free kicks to compete for the ball the foxes midfield was allowed the freedom of sms to bring the ball down and play it in the second half
-
Clasie did manage a couple of really good passes that opened up (an all to rare attacking opportunity) if we can get him doing that on a regularly basis with the likes of Mane and Jrod he could be very effective.
