  1. RIP Rik the New statesman was one of my favourite shows in my youth Alan B'Stard: Who in this country was not moved when that great Englishman, Gazza, wept bitter tears at the World Cup last year? People thought that he was crying because he had been booked by the umpire and so would miss the final. But that was not the reason. He was crying at the thought that the Conservative government, the only government this young hero had ever known, was behind in the opinion polls. He was weeping at the threat of the return to power of a Labour rabble led by a bald Welsh windbag, dedicated to destroying Britain's prosperity, running down our currency, encouraging satanist abuse of our children, spreading AIDS through their sponsorship of homosexual behaviour, abolishing the House of Lords, and executing the royal family. Gazza didn't want that for his children, do you want it for yours? Or do you want a government that lets you share in Britain's prosperity by offering you the chance of five, yes five, free Sun jackpot bingo cards with every registered Tory membership application? Yes, apply now to join the Tory party at this week's once in a lifetime special offer price of only £9.99 and you will receive a free Tarzan Teenage Hero Turtle T-shirt, a Gazza car tidy, and the News of the World every Sunday for a year.
  2. hell yeah only the big games for me. Of course if we drop down the leagues the club might try to encourage more plastics by not requiring two adult tickets for a free child ticket, classing a 12 year old as a young adult or by enlarging the family area so that your usual seats in the chapel suddenly drop in price......
  3. yeah gave mine up when we reached the PL .....Just a glory hunter me only interested in watching saints in the JPT and league 1
  4. I don't disagree getting the academy to work for us is long term thing that needs to be built and no doubt a part of it is selling on some of the talent for good money. Just find it a bit sad when the bright young things like Luke are ready to blow us off so quick. Adam I can cope with better his given us a fair few years, Luke has barely played for us (much like oxo, Walcott and Bale).
  5. Maybe the best bet is to go with the last job he had where by all accounts he was a big success. Like others have said aren't many managers that don't have a sacking or two on the CV.
  6. I find the whole thing with Luke wanting out a bit grating. It seems we can devolop our academey and bring on great young players and then, if they are considered any good, we're lucky to get to see them play for one season. At least with Adam we got to see him devolop and got to use his talent to push the club on. I mean the cash from selling Luke will, if it is re-invested in the team, no doubt buy a couple of good players but it would be nice to get to see some of academey players stay a while. Watching Oxo play in the England game the other night reminded me how much I enjoyed watching play for saints. I love that saints have a good academey and clearly the top talent won't want to stay at saints forever but it would be nice to get 3-4 seasons out of academey players rather than see them buggering off before they even reach 20.
  7. What school do your kids go to?
  8. I believe he is Robbie Williams best mate/hanger on briefly had a go at being in pop star in the early 2000s (I think) always gets invited to soccer aid because a) he is Robbie Williams mate b) had a trail for Crewe Alexandra (or someone like that) once hence is a footballer (sort of)
  9. uuuuummmm taken from the article But if, like me, you follow Southampton, you'll feel you know him intimately Clearly badger you know Adam better than I do .............does his meat hang to the left or the right?
  10. Getting ready for the saints pompey pre-season friendly at SMS........
  11. Yes well their was something fun about being the big fish in the little pond like we were in league 1. Being in the PL and being the mackral in a sea of sharks just doesn't give the same sort of fun level......
  12. Prehaps not Sunderland they're like super saints kryptonite. West ham are always a good laugh though just becuase spam fans always seem to get upset about saints:nod:
  13. Considering we are likely to be looking at a new manager and quite possibly a very different looking first 11 an easy game at home would be best. Newly promoted sides are likely to be well up for it so a poor estasblished team at home to get us off to a winning start would be good say West brom or Villa.
  14. yes but our defence included jos, yoshida and KD in goal that day hopefully they won't be our line up on the opening day of the season
  15. The Mexico international is also wanted by Serie A giants Inter Milan and Spanish side Valencia yeah can see why he'd choose Southampton instead...................
  16. First off I work the old charm on KL and get her to up the budget to 300 million then go out a make a team of ex saints back into saints Bale, theo, oxo and Dyer should provide a bit of pace upfront and out wide keep the central midfield and defence (apart from left back) as it is bring in Manuel Neuer as first choice keeper . Just for the crack bring back Joseph Mills and Dan harding for left back and Lloyd James to organise the after match parties. Get Nigel back as my number 2 and play all out attacking football and f uck defence loads of exciting high scoring games for the supporters. Meanwhile set up the MLT cloning project so we can turn out endless MLT clones
  17. Reports since mopo left suggest they didn't all love him only those in his special tea drinking group seemed to be happy others felt left out with mopo leaving it to other coaches to talk to them...allegdelly anyway
  18. What difference does that make? we can still say no even if he does put in a transfer request can't we ?
  19. Quite this line is good Kop boss Brendan Rodgers is worried that Southampton are pricing attacking midfielder Lallana out of a move to Merseyside. I think that may be kind of the point Brendan.......
  20. and don't forget a proper birthday present for players either:p
  21. Agree England just look better without Rooney IMO. Quite like to see a 4-3-3 with Adam, Rickie and Sturridge as the front 3. Just get Sturridge to wear a J-rod mask
  22. I read a couple of articles of Magath didn't come across as someone who was popular with his players at all....can't help feeling we need a very positive manager (a bit of a Adkins type) to put a bit of team spirit back and connect with the players. Magath coming in and giving the squad some sort of military style pre-season might not be the best thing after a summer of upheaval.
  23. Thought Shaw got done by Valencia a bit to much tonight and didn't get forward like he does for us.
