  1. I've highlighted the bit that was the problem once Poyet got them playing like a team they got some decent results including beating us three times.
  2. yes but Koeman who wants Pelle wasn't our manager when Lambert left.
  3. Does the pretty words and aims of Europe that is the main aim of every club in the PL outside the top 7 including us it was last season and it will be every season.
  4. I really can not believe RK would have agreed to come to saints without knowing were he stood on player sales that being the case he must be happy with what is happening and there has to be a plan in place. Not even the most stupid board and manager are just going to flog and entire team with no plan on how to proceed. Sure it's a bit upsetting to see popular players leaving but they don't want to be here any more. A team of want away players isn't much good to the club while a team of players keen to impress and with something to prove might just be a good thing.
  5. Not really no. Shaw, like Oxo before him, has barely been here long enough for me to grow attached to him. Adam has come across as a bit of a p rick in this whole thing. Rickie is a Legend who I find impossible to dislike.
  6. You really think any of them are interested in coming to saints Michu is a injury prone mess at the moment, Bony(though I would love him to come here) says he will only leave Swansea for a big club and Hernnandez would probably **** himself with laughter at the thought of playing for a club like saints. As for Rhodes over Ings that's a bit mad really. People need to get a grip we are a mid table PL side any really good players (either already at the club or at other clubs) would rather be elsewhere we won't get top class proven PL players we have to hope our scouting network can source hidden gems from the lower leagues or abroad. Players who will use us as a springboard into the PL. Then we have to get used to the fact that if they turn out to be any good they'll ditch as the first opportunity. We can still have a decent team but we have to take risks on players with potential like Ings.
  7. Give us names then ones that would want to come to saints of course. Also how many of our strikers in the last two seasons were proven PL strikers when they came to us?
  8. You mean we've tapped him up without Burnley knowing:? we're like a mid table Liverpool.........
  9. Burnley co-chairman John B told Clarets Mad: "We have had no enquiries from Southampton, or any other club, regarding Danny Ings and we would not welcome any." I imagine most clubs feel the same about their star players:rolleyes:
  10. He's also younger than I thought. I'll be much happier with the club signing young up coming players with something to prove than older players if I'm honest
  11. A signing would be nice to lift the spirits Ings would be a good start.
  12. Whose shouting. You asked about saints winning silverware as far as I'm aware the JPT is a recognised (even if only recognised as not a very good one) piece of silverware. The other cups the club has made every effort not to win the last few years in favour of the league. none of that has any bearing on our academy in any ideal world our team would have Bale, Oxo, Walcott, Shaw, Chambers, Lallana, Dyer, JWP and Surman in it but the world is not Ideal.
  13. ...or Wilfred Bony
  14. in other words how much does cost to take say a 12 year old and bring him through the academy and in to the 1st team. I honestly have no idea but I figured someone on here might know. In the light of Luke's departure I thought it would be interesting to know.
  15. We have. Didn't we have academy products on the pitch when we won the JPT?
  16. To give us some attacking options (both strikers and attacking midfield) I'd like to see Nathan Redmond, Saido Berahino, Nathan Dyer and Bony.
  17. Well it would be nice to start seeing some players coming in the door instead of going out. Clearly RKs team is going to be a very different team to the one we've got used to seeing.
  18. I'm disappointed about Shaw because in my fantasy world we would keep all our academy products to forge one hell of a team in the real world however this is just modern football and 30+ million is good money. I'm quite relaxed about the whole situation as I really don't think Koeman would have come to saints without knowing the lay of the land with regards to players, I'm pretty sure if a mass fire sale was on the cards he wouldn't have bothered, if he is happy he can work with budget and players staying to improve the team then I'm happy enough. Still it gives St Charlie, dig dig and Alpine plenty to get upset about the three of them have been like pigs in s hit since the last day of the season.....
  19. Really? I personally would like to see us build a team of academy players it gets pretty depressing to keep churning out players like Walcott, Oxo and Bale and then watch them fly out the door after a season or so (which is not what I call a decent innings) to one of the big boys. Still that's modern football I guess and I can live with it if the money is put to good use.
  20. Exactly. If we get 30 million for Shaw that would have paid for Victor and Lovern last season and still left 10 million. We might not have (arguably) the best left back in the PL but three decent new recruits might be more valuable to the team in the long run.
  21. You don't think we can replace Lambert with someone better?
  22. Like it. Maybe X-factor style team selection anyone (English) can audition for a place in the team.
  23. Well clearly he doesn't but personally I'd like to see an Englishman manage England, foreign managers at club level doesn't bother me especially when club sides are so multi-national, but I just feel my country should be managed by a fellow countryman.
  24. Ok So you think Sean Dyche could be England manager? Actually Nigel Pearson is English isn't he so discounting Redknapp as to old we've got Pearson, Dyche and Pardew as English managers in the PL I guess the next England manager will be a foreigner then.
