Koeman's first Southampton press conference 11/7/14
doddisalegend replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
Enjoyed that. RK seems pretty open and honest yet you get the feeling he could be a bit of a nasty bastard if he needs to be. Overall he seems to give off an impression of quiet confidence that is very re-assuring starting to look forward to next season now. -
I never had an ill will towards the board reckon they were between a rock and a hard place with regards to mopo and the want away players but they've IMO got decent money for players who didn't want to be here and appointing RK looks like a good move (though we can't be sure until he has a dozen games, at least, under his belt). I think they're doing a decent job in tricky circumstances myself .
-
Youth is a major part of the club ethic now I think people need to get used to youth players stepping up to the 1st team. I'm pretty sure one of RKs major plus points for the club was his bring through of youth players at Feyenoord. If people are going to expect like for like replacements for every player that leaves they are going to disappointed IMO If the club thinks there is a viable replacement in the academy they will promote them to the 1st team over buying a replacement.

What about Jonathan Fortes finest moment.... -
-
Like that looks really nice.
-
Well I'm pretty sure Mopo said that Europa league held no interest for him but now he is gone the club said they were aiming for Europe so it looks like our ambitions have actually gone up......to getting into the Europa league
-
Playing for ****ing Norwich who.......... er got relegated his manager was Chris Houghton FFS. He is excellent for England under 21s and shone out as one of Birmingham's best players in europe the year they were in the Europa league he is also still pretty young if he had come out of our academy people would be getting all excited about him.
-
Please let this be true cracking player would be a great signing.
-
We will have to disagree then. I wouldn't call Cork of Davis immobile myself and both are decent passers of the ball. As good as Morgan is I would rather have lost him (with our current midfield options) than have lost Adam
-
Hardly a disaster Morgan is absolute quaility no doubt. However central midfield is probabaly our strongest area in the team Cork, Victor, Davis and JWP with Harrison Reed on the up is still a very good PL central midfield group. I'd be gutted to lose Morgan but reckon we can cope with him leaving better than other players who have left. Even if we didn't replace him our midfield is solid can't say the same for our attack and defence right now.
-
That kind of suggests that Gaston isn't a thinking footballer then. Surely he should have accounted for Lamberts strengths and weaknesses and adjusted his game rather than trying to get Lambert to do the impossible. Gaston played with J-rod to, no lack of pace there, yet I still don't remember him having much impact.
-
I seem to remember him just walking off the pitch in one game last season leaving us with 10 men because he was fed up/injured. Gaston does seem a bit unfit/injury prone seems to get knocks easily, struggled to be match fit, getting cramp easily maybe he was just more suited to the slower pace of Serie A
-
If that's the criteria we could ban half the forum:D
-
This. Doubt we could replace Morgan but central midfield even without Morgan is still pretty strong there are other areas of the team that are in need of players more than central midfield. Morgan going would be a blow but a survivable one if we can strengthen our defence and attacking options IMO.
-
I'm still waiting for him to unlock some stubborn defences keep being told he is the answer to breaking down teams defending deep yet I can't really remember him ever having an impact coming on as a sub and doing that.
-
Exactly look at the quality of the players these teams are bringing in and the money these teams are spending (not to mention huge wages no doubt) there really is no way saints can compete with that. Having said that a lot of the other teams seem to be going for frees and dodgy signings (I'm sure there will be some money signings before the window closes though) a few more decent signings from saints and I reckon we can be in around 8th again next season the money we've made from player sales if invested well along with the players left should still be a strong team in the PL I reckon.

Dusan Tadic - DONE DEAL, official and everything

Hey there's a big untapped market in getting birds in to football .......................we need to increase our revenue as a club a team of male hotties will get more ladies through the gates equalling more £££. We could even get the Chippendales in as the half time entertainment. -

Don't forget Harrison Reed in midfield to. I wouldn't be surprised to see him a lot more involved in the 1st team this year. -

I remember thinking the Dutch guys playing total football with youth players seemed like a good move at the time Seem to remember pre-season being quite promising and then it went down hill pretty soon after that. -

Charlton at SMS tail end of 08-09 season took my son to his first ever game (thought it might be his only saints game to be fair). We weren't relegated at that point IIRC but Charlton where. Bucket rattling by Lawrie Mac and Crouch before the game followed by saints being smashed by a really crap Charlton side......although BWP did actually score a really good goal:scared: -

Did we really just pay less for Tadic than Fulham paid for Ross McCormack....
