Wasn't it NC who wanted the club to be self sustainable? at least when he first arrived before he got all excited about the CL.
-
What NC instead of KL? is NC funding the club out of his own money or does he have a magic pot of gold to use. Would NC and no rich owner be a good thing? My own feelings are if he had stayed we would still be in much the same position even the legend that is NC can't stop players wanting to go to bigger clubs.

Clearly there are a lot of upset supporters at the moment, I get that, and I'm just as downcast about the situation as everyone else. However I'm amazed at how many posters want to give up season tickets, think this the worst ever time to be a saints fan in 50 years, never want to set foot in SMS again etc etc. So I'm wondering is this all just anger talking or has the current situation really become the last straw as far as supporting saints for people?

Southampton supporters need a reality check, says Kevin Davies

Doesn't it ? both wanted by bigger, richer, more successful clubs from what I can see. -

Were we? I thought he said any players sold would be sold in the best interests of the club.............which is open to pretty big interpertation, I would say, and leaves the board pretty much free reign to do what ever they think is in the best interests of the club (which of course might not be what the fans think is in the best interests of the club) -

Maybe he walked into the situation with his eyes open? At Feynoord he was expected to use youth players he also expected to lose his best players if bigger clubs came calling....probably one of the reasons the club thought he was the right man for the job at saints. Like he said after the Bournemouth game we aren't Man city maybe he just understands football and our place in the food chain better than the fans. -

I'd agree if all our players were desperate to go to teams like stoke,WHU or burnley but every single player, so far, has gone to a bigger club with CL football and the ability to pay more wages. We built a good team but we can't afford to pay the wages or offer the European football required to keep it to keep together. -
To late already got my tickets looking forward to it. I can't wait for the season to start so I can concentrate on supporting the team and watching footie.

LOL love it won't go down well on here though........... -
WBA barely avoided relegation last season, Big Sam will be managing with one handed tied behind his back, Monk looked out of his depth last season (and I still think they will lose Bonny) none of the newly promoted sides look up to much. Yes we might well struggle next season but lets not try and make out the rest of the league are suddenly all made up of quality teams and managers.

Pretty much. See I'm disappointed at how things are turning out but expected things to work out like this somewhere along the line so I'm not filled with the apocalyptic rage that some are suffering from. I remember being in the championship and not relishing returning to the PL, said as much on here but got shouted down, it took a season longer than I expected but it has pretty much gone as I figured it would in the end so I'm more filled with resignation than anger.
-
West brom with a manager who couldn't hack it in league one? big Sam trying to play attractive football at Wham? Swansea under Monk? all the newly promoted sides? Clearly we are not going to hit last years heights but there is plenty of dross in next seasons PL.

I was down at SMS yesterday getting a shirt for the nipper. Soon as I got down there I just wished there was a match to watch (got tickets for the Bayer Leverkusen game instead) I just want to watch saints play, sing a few songs and have some banter with the away fans don't care what league it is (still think League 1 was the most fun ever), don't care what players it is or who the manager is I just enjoy watching saints and would love to be able to afford season tickets for me and the kids.
-
Why? if the club makes a statement no one believes it anyway...It's all perceived as lies. I'm pretty sure they have tried to de-bunk the club is for sale angle before but people don't believe them. Also If I was trying to flog the club I'd be telling everyone in order to get the word out (like the bloke at Villa) trying to flog the club quietly don't make much sense. If the club is for sale it might not be the golden ticket some think it is we could end up with an owner that is even worse with even less cash.

Jose Mourinho: Signing Luke Shaw would have "killed" Chelsea
doddisalegend replied to doddisalegend's topic in The Saints
Though Jose is the master of bull**** I think he is telling the truth (as he sees it) looking at Angelman's list Shaw's new wage deal would have had him earning a lot more than several senior pros at Chelsea which might have caused some s hit in the changing room. It does IMO highlight again why we will never keep our best players if one of the big boys comes a calling we can't match their wage offers and FFP has pretty much made sure we never will be able to now. -
LOL Quick look on KUMB brought up After this, I am going to the bookies and putting £20 on us getting relegated. So that's us and WHU going down only one more team left wonder who it will be.........
-
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho claims he pulled out of a bid to sign left-back Luke Shaw this summer because his wage demands would have "killed" the club. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28498546

God I love posts like this some **** banging on that if we just have hope, ambition and a positive outlook the players would all stay and we'd push on to glory:lol:
-
Yep welcome to the new PL like the old PL yet even less competitive. All the FFP seem to have done as far as I can tell is make sure the big clubs stay big and keep everyone else away from the CL gravy train.
-
What if someone want's to buy it for four times what you paid for it is it still not for sale............
-
I bet pompey (and loads of other clubs) would kill for an academy like ours to give them a source of money. Without multi-million pound sponsorship deals' or owners with more money than sense that the big teams have we need the income which the academy can produce. We'd all love to have a team of excellent academy products playing for saints but that is never going to happen in modern football.

I just want to see some players coming in rather than going out. Even my positive attitude is taking a beating now with the players going out the doors. Some decent signings like this (and I think the two we have brought in) would really help right now.
