  1. If the guy is part of higher echelons of the club management I really don't see the issue seems to me a lot of clubs have high level managers who aren't football people but bring other strengths. Going back to Woodward aren't a lot of the things he tried to introduce being employed by lots of football clubs now an appointment before it's time that had NC done it instead of rupes would have been hailed a masterstroke.
  2. My thoughts are I want MP to stay if he wants to be here.....but if his heart isn't in it or he feels NC leaving changes things for him then I'd rather he left. A talented manager who isn't really interested is no use to the club. I haven't made my mind up whether MP really wants to be here or not yet.
  3. I remember the same question being asked before Pardew and NA were sacked....
  4. Radio Solent said Jos had and eye problem or something so couldn't be picked, I guess Lovern is not match fit so barring some wonderful academy product not sure what other options MP had.
  5. Lamberts form dipped when NA left and MP arrived NA played to Lamberts strengths MP not so much Lambert hasn't just become **** over night he just isn't best suited to MPs style. Worth holding onto him and until we see if MP is staying in the summer I still reckon another manager could get more out of Lambert. Having said that he's hardly our only player wasting chances Jrod and Lallana have been pretty guilty of spurning plenty of good chances recently. As for Osvaldo despite being so great he scored less goals than Fonte and Lovern and never looked like scoring as many as Lambert or J-rod
  6. Disappointing a win for negative football but if we don't put our chances away we can't expect anything else. Our attacking three are all guilty of spurning to many, of the many chances we make. TBH though I find myself nothing more than mildly disappointed because the season feels pretty much over anyway now.
  7. Can he convince RVP to sign for us - if so take him I say. As for AVB I'm not so sure he has a habit of ****ing of senior players we'd probably end up with Adam playing in the development squad or something.
  8. That's illegal in most countries..........
  9. TBF Luke Shaw was one the better performers in that game (not that that is saying much) others have more to apologise for than he does. ****ed as I am about the whole thing I 'm kind of over it now. We still have a dozen, no pressure, games of football left before the season ends hopeful the players can play with a bit of freedom and enjoyment pick up a few results (I would dearly like to see us beat WHU on Saturday) and as supporters we might as well just enjoy the football.
  10. I quite enjoyed NC leaving it was amusing to watch the press and posters on here prophesising the death of the club within days of NC leavening (players going, owner going, manager going) only for the results to actually improve (FA cup game aside) after his departure. Of course it might go tits up in the summer but is wasn't exactly the instant death people made it out to be. I would say you would struggle to find anyone who hasn't enjoyed the football or our position in the league this season the main argument seems to be whether you consider 8th (or there abouts) in the league with no other trophies a great/good season or merely an enjoyable one.
  11. All the more reason to try and enjoy this season best we can (Cup aside)
  12. I'm willing to bet if the game had been SMS we would have a much better turnout than Sunderland's small crowd. I went to both FA cup home games but the truth is home games are expensive enough when you consider travel and other expenses let alone traveling all the way up north. I think those who went deserve a lot of credit but using the number of away fans as an indication that no one is bothered by winning the FA cup is erroneous IMO.
  13. Your first effort was better.....
  14. Result might have been the same but there is difference between doing everything to win and losing and just not even trying. Yesterday should have been our best possible side on the pitch players should have been rested against Hull to give us the best shot at the cup . If we had then lost few would be so upset it's the fact we didn't even try.
  15. play the under 18s probably to give them a taste of the big time..........
  16. If they leave it will be their choice not much point them being here if their hearts not in it.....
  17. JWP is one of our two best players:scared:
  18. Well it appears CB has already written down my thoughts on this thread .....
  19. I doubt it probably the ones on here tonight saying they don't care about the cups would have cried at our failure to overtake Newcastle and moaned about us throwing away our CL place.... but most (normal) posters would have seen the reason behind it no problem.
  20. Ha my sons first ever game quite surprised he ever came back for more. You're right though not our lowest point by a long shot (losing to Rochdale at home in league 1 sucked worse) but a missed chance to have a go at the cup with (unusually for saints) no pressure in the league.
  21. None of those players would need resting if MP had been prepared to rest them for a nothing league game against Hull though. At this point with little riding on the league we should have put reverse teams out the last two games and saved our best side for an assault on the cup today. 3 dropped points at Hull would have made no difference in the season overall what so ever.
  22. Why? we gave Man city a much tougher game than we gave Sunderland today.
  23. We're not in the champions league. At the end of the day this season has been enjoyable, more than last season, but not anything like as enjoyable as the three seasons before that. In twenty years time when I'm talking to my grand kids about saints I'll have probably forgotten all about this season but I'll still remember being at Wembley for the JPT final and the two promotion seasons. If we win the FA cup I'll always remember that. Coming 8th in a league (any league) won't live long in the memory. This season is nice (and I enjoy the football) but it's lacking something in excitement (apart from NC leaving) even relegation dog fights make for exciting seasons.
  24. Last few years we have had excuse after excuse why we couldn't be distracted by the cups. Avoiding relegation was more important, getting back to the PL was more important, avoiding relegation from the championship was more important, getting to the league one play offs was more important, getting back to the championship was more important, getting back to the PL was more important, avoiding relegation from the PL was more important this season for the first time since 2003 we had no reason not to go all out for the cups we were in a good safe mid-table position and had nothing else to play for and yet we didn't bother. It's not the losing that hurts but the total lack of effort to even try.
