Condolences for Jay, but lets talk replacements
doddisalegend replied to Saint86's topic in The Saints
if that's the case I can't imagine him being all that available and fecking expensive -
Great player, shame how many saints fans seem happy to turn on him as soon as he goes two games without a goal, even worse were how many said selling him to West Ham would be good business. On another note how sad is it that Gareth Bale won't be at the World cup? It's amazing that such a great player will (probably) never play a major international football tournament.

I had Solent on in the garage yesterday so caught the pompey game after the saints game had finished sounds like their best player was this kid The same kid that was part of a defence that leaked 7 in the youth FA game. Given that you have to wonder just how ****e their team has become, I reckon our under 21s/development squad would be to strong for pompey's 1st team these days. TBH I can't see them going down what I really want is to be drawn in one of the cups against them next season just to underline our superiority on the pitch:).

Can't see Boruc's ego coping with being the No.2. But agree with the sentiment we need a new GK despite their position in the league I like the look of David Marshall at Cardiff.

Recall Mayuka?

Well Done Leicester City Welcome to the Prem

Do you think they would let us have Kasper Schmeichel......... -
He isn't good enough (hardly his fault) but with a first and second choice keepers out the lad was all we had ( or possibly have for the rest of the season) better to support him until we get a (hopefully) new keeper in the summer.

......Sunderland who fielded an ineligible player against us last August http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26878545 Don't remember him having much impact TBH. Sunderland have avoided a points reduction for which I reckon they will be very relieved:lol:.

Josh Sims signs Professional contract at Southampton
doddisalegend replied to Lallana's Left Peg's topic in The Saints
The next Adam Lallana I reckon saw him play against the pompey youth in the FA cup best player on the Pitch IMO so I reckon this is great news. -
I feel the same about Liverpool fans I can't work out why there are so many blokes at work who are all Liverpool fans despite never going north of the Watford gap and speaking with a fine southern twang.

No doubt those Italians are great cooks
-
Good call he doesn't look happy, threatening to sue his team mate at the moment, feels WBA are not backing him. Deffo the sort of player we should be looking at IMO http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26857805

I think you need to chill I was merely pointing out that IMO this statement wasn't true No other team in England has risen so high and so quickly in the last four to five years as us. FACT

I think Rickie will be up for this one this is his chance to help Liverpool win the PL. Having said that I kind of agree perhaps Gallagher up front he is pretty mobile and fast for his size so let him press and harry their defence to death and then unleash a fired up Lambert on them for the last 30.

Listening to this on the radio at lunch time interviewing various (wo)Man on the street about eating fruit and veg and the most common excuse was fruit and veg is to expensive for people to eat that much. I never thought fruit and veg was that expensive compared to other food stuffs or I'm missing something? I mean I can pick up 1 kg bag of carrots and a big bag of onions for less than a frigging happy meal. Bummed about fruit juice I like fruit juice and thought it was good for me. The wife tells me frozen veg is also now bad for you...

So basically NC has done a bit better than Delia Smith with more (of someone else's) money. Cool go NC........
-
I hate to say but Norwich achieved league 1 to PL in the same time scale as us one season before us with arguably a worse team, I'm willing to bet less cash spent (I could be wrong on that) and with Delia ****ing Smith running the shop they also finished higher than us in the 1st season back in the PL so it's not like NC is the only one to achieve this miracle.
-
Quite. I wonder what the respective values on the two teams are wouldn't be surprised if Osvaldo cost more than the whole 2003 squad put together.
-
I can't agree with that one our academy was turning out gems long before NC .....

Problem is all that drive and ambition was built on someone else's money KL might be rich but she isn't a bottomless pit of cash either. I think her family have invested something like 50 million quid of their money to get us to where we are it was all very well NC promising CL and a new bigger stadium as wasn't coming out of his pocket. It seems to me a lot of fans are being a little ungrateful and instead of looking at what KL and her dad have given us are now crying over not getting what they feel NC promised them.

Financial results for year ending 30 June 2013
doddisalegend replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
Isn't that what Pompey fans said just before it went tits up (twice)? -
Clearly Adam - lots of players have great seasons but Adam has excelled really don't even need a poll this season. Special mention to Jack Cork for stepping up when called on after not being able to get close to the team early season.
-
On Solent commentary this week (or maybe the week before) Dave Merrington made a comment about people now working at the club being happy and going to work without fear.....I figured it was a dig at NC

I thought the owners wrote of a load of debt and took it as shares which left us basically debt free? -

Just underlines why Champions league or even a top 6 finish in the PL is very unlikely we've had to put ourselves back in debt (weren't we debt free when we came up from the championship?) just to get where we are a top 10 PL side the kind of spending required to go further just isn't IMO on the owners radar. Not that I blame her sinking all your cash into a black hole like a football club is a quick way to get poor. TBH I think I would rather have a well run (with as little debt as possible) mid table side than a top six club riddled with debt. The academy bolstered by a low number of sensible player purchases has to be the way for a club like us to go. Spending on the training facilities will hopeful pay dividends in the long run if we can continue to bring through talent from the academy and use the training facilities to get the best from the players we have.
