It was pretty much a done deal NC was happy to off load Lambert. He is only here know because KL and her mates stopped it happening. That being the case why would people think NC wouldn't have happily off loaded Adam or Luke if the price was right?

England World Cup Squad - Lambert, Lallana and Shaw included

Happy for all three but especially Rickie, at his age this was his one chance, you just feel it means more to him than anyone else. The rise from league 2 to World cup squad is just such a great feel good football story. -
How is that a bad thing would you like us to be a club with debts. How times have chanaged a few years backmost of us would have all been happy with a debt free club, a great academey and retaining PL status now it seem that is not good enough. Also not having any debts will surely stand us in a better postion in future seasons?

You'd think Man U would be shouting from the roof tops about this deal to cover up their ****ty season yet strangely they're staying tight lipped.......... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27368029

Yet we would be in exactly the same position with the old board...why people think NC was magically able to stop this situation happening is beyond me. He was happy to flog Lambert to WHU and he couldn't stop Oxo going to Arsenal why would he be able to stop Luke or Adam leaving now?
-
His young playing in a pretty poor team he'd do much better here he had some decent appearances in the Europa league for Birmingham couple of seasons back....... plus you think Jack Cork is s hit which kind ****s up your opinion on players anyway
-
Surely Luke is such hot property that if he is going he can do better than Utd surely Chelsea need a replacement for Cole? If he is going lets hope a little bidding war starts ......
-
but which people the club or the alleged ITKs......
-
compete with who? top four, top six the rest of the PL. Funny how people weren't talking like this at the end of last season.
-
Just a minute the club said they had had no offers for anyone earlier today now your saying this has been a done deal for a long time?

Fair enough I can just see the new manager asking the Man U board for some money to buy some new players he wants to build his new lookteam only to be told the club already spent the cash before he got the job.
-
Don't they need a new manager before they start trying to buy players?

Problem is the first five years were the easy (and the less expensive) bit. In league one we were competing against the little kids, in the championship our peers and now in the PL the big boys. The journey from here looks much shorter than the gentle slope we've been climbing the last five years sadly the new journey is up a f ucking steep mountain covered in snow............ -
Seems to me MP is keeping his options open no point signing a new contract until he knows there are no better options open to him. His stock is high right now so it's a good time for him to get a move to a bigger club and a better contract.

Only you and some other numpties still crying about NC leaving seem to be getting this message the board clearly don't want to sell any players but they are realistic enough to know we are not the biggest fish in the pond. The sad thing is you all seem to think that if NC was here we wouldn't still be in the same position that we find ourselves in now. KL was still the owner and had control of the purse strings when NC was here and considering the season we've had our players and manager would be in demand right now whether NC was here or not. NC was within days of selling Lambert to WHU in January and the one player during his tenure that was really in demand he couldn't stop from going to Arsenal. This is the success that everyone craved, now he we have to deal with the reality of that success, which is bigger clubs with deeper pockets will want our best players and decent managers this is the state of modern football people we need to deal with it -

It doesn't really matter what he says some have already decided that KL and the board want nothing more than to sell all our players and relegate the club. MP is quite clearly refusing to commit in case a better offer comes along (and yes there are better offers than managing saints) if nothing turns up in the next couple of months he will no doubt sign a new contract (though it hardly shows much commitment to the club on his side). As for players people can cry about it all they want but every player has a price and we are not the best offer in town. If a player really wants to move to a bigger club there is f uck all the board can do about it but get the best deal. More important than players leaving is how money from player sales is re-invested in the team and how new academy players are brought into the 1st team. Having said all that at this time the club is saying there are no offers for anyone so how about we give them the benefit of the doubt for now? -
Having seen him play I have high hopes for Josh Sims being a very similar player to Adam (though with more pace)................No pressure on the lad:).

Taken from the BBC man U pre match preview It's no secret that top six clubs are coveting World Cup hopefuls Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Luke Shaw. Shaw's the best young English left-back I've seen since Kenny Sansom, even though he's played just 66 club matches. Lallana is a genuinely gifted attacking midfielder with pace, guile and 60 goals in 268 games, who could fit into any title-winning squad. Lambert's ability to create just off the frontman marks him out as more than just a scorer of 117 goals in 218 matches. First I've heard of Lambert being a target for a top six side.............

Guly pretty much confirms he is leaving Saints this summer
doddisalegend replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
That's half the problem there no wonder he got a lot of crap when people don't even know he isn't a striker he's an ATM he even says that himself. -
If that's the case then he would be off even NC had stayed if our players want to play CL football at a world famous club we aren't going to hold on to them no matter what the boards ambition is. This constant undertone on here that this wouldn't be happening if NC was still here is so much bollix.

Has katrina got the money to get us to next level?
doddisalegend replied to Roger's topic in The Saints
What's the alternative? To buy expensive players and pay our current ones even more...still no guarantee of success a few injuries and a drop in form and we could still end up relegated and in the financial do do. I don't believe we have the money to push on further (and never did have despite NCs claims) unless KL wants to sell up to an oil sheik. The club needs to concentrate on being self sustainable so that relegation doesn't equal collapse and administration again. The club (IMO) needs to keep improving the academy and aim to have a large number of good academy players in the team mixed with decent signings. I'd rather see money spent on the academy than more Gastons and Osvaldos. -
I'm just gutted for Nigel that Reading missed out to Brighton in such a dramatic way. I think Brighton would get stuffed in the PL, not sure they have the money to strengthen the team that much, so bring them on and guarantee us 6pts next season.
